  1. We have done the Isuzu Insight Chalenge a couple of times and the 3ltrs generally did better on fuel consumption than the 2.5s. Maybe because they hold on to gear 5 longer when going up hill.

    Its reputed that the 1.9ltr version will be available here sometime next year. Dont know if it will replace the 2.5 or not.

    Also I think that the auto 4*4 is only available with the 3ltr engine.

    As I PM'd you ... go to the Motor Expo.

    In Thailand get an easy 1200Km to the tank out of my Isuzu D-Max 4X4, 3 Litre, Auto Transmission. Has more than enough power and idles up the hills using less fuel.

    I see where the same vehicle in Australia, under Isuzu drivers got 1447 Klm to one tank, however that was on the flats in the Outback.

  2. I see Israel did not get a mention at the talks. 'O' that's right they said if they find out Iran has a Nuke they will flatten the place. Now that's the way to keep them in place.

    Was there an official Israeli statement to that effect? Sort of doubt it.

    Regardless, Israel is not part of the negotiations, even though it is obviously concerned about/to developments.

    Words to that effect.

    Mar 21, 2014 - A rising chorus of Israeli voices is again raising the possibility of carrying out a military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.

  3. Went in to do my Extension/Retirement Visa today, arrived 10AM the place was packed, got retirement ticket at front desk and told to sit and wait for number to be called. 5 minutes later called to Retirement desk,biggrin.png lady asked for Passport and checked it, checked the front and rear of the TM7 form (Application for extension of stay in the Kingdom), checked the Stat Dec from the Australian Embassy re my finances, checked copies of front page of passport, checked date of entry and new Non-Immigrant ‘O’ Visa which was issued at Bangkok Immigration, checked TM6 number and Electric Bill with address on it. All had been signed on the bottom and the Mob No put on the bottom of TM7 Form. thumbsup.gif

    Asked for TB1900 receipt issued with a red card and told to come back at 9AM tomorrow to pick up Passport. As we are leaving on the 7th for OZ, she said I could get a RE-Entry Permit after I get my Passport back tomorrow. I was out of there at 10-15AM Quick efficient service. w00t.gif See what transpires tomorrow.

  4. My wife bought a True move H 3G+ WIFI. It is about the size of a small Nokia phone and can be used for up to 10 connections. Has its own internal battery that can be charged as you use it or you can connect it to your computer via USB of stand alone. I used it all over Thailand last month where we could not get a good connection from hotel WIFI connections. Worked like a charm. Cost of WIFI was about TB 990 with Air Card and TB699 for 6GB per month. Very fast any where we were. Can be topped up at any True shop.

  5. Try the Navy Base on top of the hill between Pattaya and Jomtien, they will be able to tell you if there is a place in town or you may have to go to Sattahip way Utapao air base/International Airport. Or the Military shops around town selling all types of military clothes and hardware, they may be able to tell you.

  6. "Gunmen separated out non-Muslims by asking passengers to read from the Koran, officials and witnesses said. Those who failed were then shot in the head".

    Sort of makes this an horrific slaughter by Muslims doesn't it?

    Could you imagine the fear that went through those people as they saw the first person who could not recite a verse from the Koran being shot in the head and she or he was next, knowing you were going to die. What a bunch of heroes these sh** Hea** are. Some of these gunmen probably could not recite a verse either, but follow like sheep. mad.gif How many have they murdered already and how many more will they murder. They will have to be stopped eventually, I hope sooner than later. I can only see ground forces eventually stopping these atrocities.angry.png

  7. This Submarine rubbish has been bought up before by the last three or four Governments that were in power. From memory in all cases the cash was allocated to the Military for them to purchase the Subs in all cases by all the Gov that were in power at the time. What ever happened to the money that was allocated.

  8. A man lost his life (this is the main thing!)because:

    a ) he knew too much;

    b ) he could embarass 'oils';

    c ) he was too dirty;

    d ) he had an accident;

    e ) he committed suicide.

    It's a 'multiple choice', not knowing any fact (none disclosed), my 'gutt feeling' would a) and b ), c) is far fetched for someone involved, positively, in crime suppression for years, d) and e) when it would have been, it would have been released with many details. IMO, that is...

    9 others that he was recently transferred to inactive posts with were yesterday charged with a number of crimes. That would suggest that he was going to be too.

    Just reading a bit more in the BP, 7 high ranking police were charged and 3 civilians two are still on the run. I could not, no I could believe the charges that were bought against them, talk about a fall from grace and a loss of face. The police officer who died, was either an informer of he could not face the charges that may have been bought up against him, of he just fall from some place high, it may come out later.

    Things seem to be hotting up since the Military started stamping out corruption, by offering cash incentives and possibly promotion.

    I see where 7 Police were given cash and awards for dobbing in people offering bribes at Phuket.

    Pay to have a recorder in your vehicle or your partner videoing on the phone from the look of it.

  9. OMG...does Pattaya beach generate enough foreigners looking for illicit sex to support 100 prostitutes?

    How does that translate across all of Thailand...Pros in the hundreds of thousands?

    And to think...it is all illegal...5555...coffee1.gif

    Pattaya Beach at night is commonly known as the Coconut Bar and yes the girls most certainly do a good trade there and the Lady boys at the other end do a good trade with their muggings.w00t.gif

  10. Sounds like you need a Toshiba dealer unless any member may have a non functioning fridge that that have in the back yard that they would let you have the lid/door, maybe a photo would help.

    Toshiba site is telling me there is no toshiba dealer in pattaya but another site is telling me tuk com, but i think that is proably for computers only.

    I Copied and pasted below hence the font size and NO phone number.

    Photos of fridge, inner freezer and part of door attempting to attach now.

    Shop Toshiba @ Pattaya - Tukcom Pattaya

    3rd Floor, Tukcom IT Center, 8 Moo 10, Pattaya Tai (South Road), Pattaya, Bang Lamung, Central Pattaya, Pattaya, 20260

    From memory the freezer tray should be directly up as close to the freezer as possible, not low with drinks etc on it as in your picture.

    You can also get the local glass windows and door guy to cut you a piece of Perspex/plastic , they usually carry it, you could then screw or araldite the hinges to it.

    There should also be a defrost position on the thermostat on the front, if not empty the frig out move it outside and hose the excess ice from it.

    I did see a second hand fridge being advertised on the notice board at the front of Foodland on centre road a week or so ago, might still be there.

    You could ask on here if someone has one for sale. All else fails, your up for a new one, they aren't expensive and from the looks of yours, you will save in power and in the long run food.

  11. The hotel where you are staying should make the report to immigration. That said no one ever asked me on my travels throughout southern Thailand. Not immigration, not any hotel. Conclusion; no one cares. (Phuket seems to be an exception!)

    So nobody ever made a copy of your passport when staying in a hotel?

    Just came back from a trip around the top of Thailand up the Cambodian, Lau and down the Myanmar edge of Thailand. Stayed at 8 hotels and not one asked for a copy of my Passport. However on the trip south, Hua Hin, Phuket and a different hotel at Hua Hin on the return trip, all asked for a copy of passport.

  12. He did this in front of the police station? Where were the police? At checkpoints making collections?

    Is this man locked up now waiting to pay bail?

    He will never face a formal charge because they will harass and threaten or bribe the woman to retract her statement

    I have never seen a BIB out on the streets at night patrolling, if they are on duty they are either in the cop shop having snacks or at a road block creating chaos to the traffic.

  13. The other main English news source states, total arrivals in October totalled 2.18 million, an increase of 6.1% from October last year. Here, The Tourism Department stated today foreign tourist arrivals in October dropped 6.1% from the same month last year. Up or down or the other way round. What a joke.

    Just read that myself in the BP that it's time to celebrate as tourism is up 6.1%. I just came back from a trip all around Thailand, middle of last month and just home from north today. Most areas are complaining no tourists and they are right, it was very quiet everywhere. The TAT don't have a clue re the official figures.

  14. This is very upsetting...particularly to my wife and I. We spent many mornings in that park...just before sunrise. In the 3 years that we lived there, we went every day, and saw nothing like this. There was a gruesome murder of a bar owner by his own staff, at his house...but not random violence at the park.

    Police and military are helpless against this kind of violence.

    I know it sounds bad....because it is.

    random violence happens everywhere. just a few days ago, an elderly asian-american man (who was with his wife) in nyc, was pushed onto the path of an oncoming subway for no apparent reason.

    http://edition.cnn.com/2014/11/16/justice/new-york-subway-death/index.html?iref=allsearch

    Maybe you should have added this. About five million people ride the subway every day in New York City. Every year, about 140 people are hit by city subways, many of them in accidental knocks. Fifty people have been killed by subway trains so far this year, and 55 died last year, according to the MTA.

    That does not come under the heading of an admitted Copycat.

  15. I can imagine how a survey might be put together:

    Please rank in order how much these issues might perturb you

    a. Martial law

    b. Murder of tourists with impunity

    c. rip offs and scams done with police involvement

    d. It's much hotter here than back home

    Easy to see that martial law might come in last, hence it is not a problem. End of story.

    Maby the University should have asked the tourists about all of the above and now added about the three drunken Thai's at Ubon Thani ,that that wanted to imitate the murders at Koh Tao, by bashing a German over the head with a hoe just for kicks and admitted it. Survey on Martial Law, what a joke.
