  1. Most of the tyre places are selling second hand sets of rims, as a lot of Thai's get new flashy ones and trade the old ones in. Ask as you go around, as you now have a sense of what you want and what new ones cost.

Make sure they are not buckled or damaged on the inside of the rim. If they have to use too many weights for balance they are damaged.

Most times new is best. Check out the car section on TVF there may be some for sale in there, or let them know what sort of vehicle you want to fit out with new rims and what sort of rims etc.

  2. I would advocate zero tolerance too, if we start with outlawing alcohol, nicotine and caffeine.

See how we go from there.

Ah there is plenty of tolerance for alcohol, nicotine and caffeine, especially as they are all legal substances.

Although we have no sales after 2am in Sydney for alcohol, we also have plenty of warnings on TV re one punch drunks can get 10 yrs to life for the fatal punch. Adds for drink driving in almost all country's that allow grog. Smoking well mainly medical adds and problems. But still all legal substances.

You should possibly go to the Emergency section in St Vincent's Hospital Sydney, any night and see that most of the problems coming in are illegal drug related.

  3. One of the Japanese hostages has been beheaded and the other was made to hold his head after the beheading.

They are now asking for a prisoner exchange for the other Japanese hostage.

Obama's comments, echoed Saturday by British Prime Minister David Cameron who condemned the group's "murderous barbarity," suggested that Western intelligence had authenticated the video posted online.

  4. Whilst not discussing the merits or otherwise of Capital Punishment, the Indonesian President make much noise about the Indonesian drug problem... So note that the charge was for smuggling of drugs out of Indonesia.. not into.

"The men were among a group of Australians, dubbed the "Bali Nine", arrested in 2005 for attempting to smuggle eight kilogrammes (18 pounds) of heroin out of the Indonesian resort island of Bali".

The president said he would reject call for clemency for more than 60 drug convicts, both local and foreign citizens, currently on death row.

I doubt they (the 60) were all attempting to smuggle drugs out of the Indonesia resort.

  5. When you find it.. Make sure you report that you searched for it and could not find it. Then demand 5000b or you will report them and demand a urine sample while you are at it.

Thank you I won't forget your very smart advice.

    This is in the TVF

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/783282-bangkok-shakedown-tourists-report-increased-harassment-by-police/

Japanese expat's gives Thailand a roast on Facebook about Suvarnabhumi, but that is in the BP paper

Police harassing tourists is also in the BP under Sukhumvit shakedown

I am sure the TVF have run this before on the site.

  6. For those that want to deal in drugs, this may change your mind. The deaths are not clean deaths all the time. But for those that want to take the risk in a country that states, that you will be sentenced to death for importing or exporting drugs, read the link below to what happens with the firing squad.

Indonesia will put to death six drug convicts after midnight, in a grim fate that awaits Bali Nine masterminds Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan.

  7. All drugs should be made legal and normally taxed as any other product..

What is the difference between cocaine sigarettes whiskey and weed? in my opinion there is none ...

Let say there is a new type of food it taste good but it destroys your lungs and will give you cancer after u eat this product for 10-15 years..Do you think this new food product would be allowed to sell in the supermarkets? of course not it would get banned right away..So why do sigarettes not get banned then ?och i see governement just tax it ..So then how about to tax and legalise all the drugs...?

War on drugs is a complete joke.

A country killing executing their drug smugglers is an inhuman country..

Any guys here cheering about drug smuglers put to death you are disgusting !

If you don't know the difference between hard drugs and whisky and cigarettes, you are already on the wrong stuff.

Saw a show last night on a 18yo kid who was on crack and had to steal from his mum and dad to feed his habit. Others rob houses and old pensioners to support their habit. But not many take this route when they smoke cigarettes and have a drink.

As for death to these 2 when the time comes, I have no sympathy for them, they were in fact smuggling drugs out of Bali to take and distribute to adults and kids in Australia. 2 top guys, that will quiver in fear when they pay the ultimate price for destroying other lives.

  8. With the US and Europe putting more sanctions on the Russia, I would say there will be a heap of Russian owned, or partly owned, or a good deposit paid for condos coming on to the market all over Thailand. They can no longer afford to holiday here, buy here or even pay them off any more.

On reading the news tonight in the BP the prediction I made above has come to fruition, almost word for word. Cant say I am unhappy about it. The writing was on the wall, the bubble had to burst.

my burning desire to read correct forecasts in Thaivisa has come to fruition cheesy.gif

And a few more words of wisdom from the media and TVF.whistling.gif

  10. To answer your question on what one.

You as far as I'm concerned have 3 the Pajero Fortuner or the new MUX.

All do that they say on the box.

The Pajero like the Fortuner have their good and bad point's. The Fortuner rear seats don't fold down great if you want a large estate just take them out 4 bolts. Easy servicing hold their price reliable. Down they are now a bit dated.

Pajero I don't like anyway due to the large gap above the wheel arch but that's a personal thing. Seem very reliable the early ones like the Fortuner had a few problems but now seem to be sorted. Rear seat fold down but the boot space is a tad smaller than the Fortuner due to those bloody wheel arches. Seem to hold there price. Down side they don't have as many safety thing's on them and their seats/build quality isn't as good as the Fortuner well I don't think so, others will disagree, hence the lower price.

MUX as stated new seems so far a nice car but the one I test drove did seem to wander a trite on high speed bends not to dissimilar to the Pajero. I drive a Sportivo that has lower suspension so not easy to gauge between the other two, answer to that drive a bit slower seemed to have as much power if not a bit more than the other two. Down side cant say as they are new but it'll hold it's price Isuzu always do.

Price I'm not sure but I would think about the same as the Toyota.

Go have a test drive in all and see what suits you and your pocket best.

They all do different models the more you pay the more you get.

Tip don't get a petrol Fortuner they are at best rubbish.

I have had 3 Isuzu vehicles, they have all been 4X4 D-MAX's. My next one will be an Isuzu MUX. Have never ever had a problem with the first 3, always had them serviced when it was due. Normally dealers don't take trade inn's and I would recommend you cleaning it up yourself and sticking a for sale sign on it. Or you could do as I did and tell the Isuzu dealer that you want to buy that new one and you want X amount for it. He usually gets his mate from the local tent city second hand car yard to come and have a look. It worked for me when I bought a new one, both times from the same dealer.

  11. After debriefing Police and Hostages some more has come to light.

It has now come out that Monis told the hostages they would all be dead in the morning and he later shot two hostages after some escaped again.

    https://au.news.yahoo.com/nsw/a/25792328/you-will-be-dead-in-morning-hostages-told/

    Someone is telling porkies

    From the link

"Court documents from 2011 reveal Monis had a gun licence while working as a security officer but it had expired. But NSW Police on Wednesday said there's no record of Monis having held a firearms licence."

There were no court documents or computer readouts or entries in NSW stating that Monis had a gun licence. All licences are issued by the state you live in and there are no records in NSW that Monis had ever had or had ever been issued a gun licence. However the Australian Federal Police (AFP) stated that Monis had a gun licence, which was later found to be a computer error on behalf of the AFP.

  12. I'm with Micmichd on this reply: ??? Beckbie - spit it out, what you trying to say? For the record - if I followed my embassy's advice, then I probably wouldn't be here (and yes - Both double meanings here are intended)

The Australian Gov has had it's warnings out for years on where to travel and where not to travel in Thailand because of demonstrations and Terrorism down south. It's still current.

The Thai Gov and consulate in Australia have now told it's Thai Muslims to be careful in Australia, because their could be a backlash over the Sydney episode.

So now everyone is looking over their shoulder, what a crock, common-sense and intelligence tells you where you can safely go and it doesn't hurt to look at the Gov websites to see the updates on warnings now and again.
