I sun dry (well my wife does) mangoes, apples, bananas, add currants and anything else that takes my fancy. Mix with oats and leave in the fridge in milk or yoghurt overnight.. better than porridge and very healthy.
That sounds lovely! When can I come for breakfast?!

They have them in a shop in soi 6 Moonmuang. Go past Somphet market and you'll find the shop on the left hand side just after La Mer Hostel. They're on a stand outside.

I had heard that if you spray Listerine mouth wash around entranc ways they will not come in through those entry ways.
Unfortunately this is one of those urban myths. If only it was that simple!

I've never had food poisoning (touch wood!) but my husband and daughter did, at my niece's wedding at a very expensive 5*, well known and expensive hotel in the UK. In fact more than half the guests suffered. It seems that that nowhere can be trusted!

You can no longer buy tramadol, tindol, tramoda in any pharmacy. The Thai FDA has made this a controlled item effective now. It would be difficult to get a Thai doctor outside a hospital to write for Valium. You would also likely have to fill Rx at a hospital as pharmacies would not have it.
An alternative is Benydryl and Melatonin. 25-50mg/12 hours benydryl and 3 mg melatonin with eyes closed, will put you to sleep. Benydryl, diphynhydramine Hcl is not just for allergic reactions but is the number one insomnia medicine on earth, and is also fairly benign on the system- safe.
Melatonin is activated by darkness. It is naturally secreted inside us at night and activated by nightfall, When eyes closed, it really helps.
Both are over the counter meds with great safety margins.
I've been suffering from neck problems since Christmas and have bought Tramadol in over 5 pharmacies in Chiang Mai, including PharmaChoice. Not been refused once. 50 baht for 10 x 50mg tablets.

Do American and Australian Chinese restaurants have 'chop suey' on their menus or is that just a UK Chinese restaurant dish? I know you'll never find it in China!

Thanks Chicog. Yes I know where the House is. In fact it was only last week we went and had a look at the shops in there and a look at the menu. Very little Thai options but would be nice for a special occasion. A bit pricey for a normal meal.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Any suggestions for restaurants with aircon in CM? Sorry to be fussy but don't want Western,Japanese or shopping mall restaurants!
Nor am I looking for expensive hotels.
Just a simple Thai restaurant ..... with A/C.
Is this impossible?

150 baht for a tuk tuk? You could have travelled in comfort in a yellow and blue/red taxi for the same price!

I was told that it's your own bank which determines the exchange rate and not the bank used for the withdrawal. Another 'expert'got it wrong!
We always used to use Aeon when there was no ATM charge but now we withdraw with the cashier at Bangkok bank and there's no fee.

That would have been for just a consultation too. Any treatment required would need another appointment. They're very good dentists but not in a crisis!

Elite Smile are very good but you usually have to wait several days for an appointment. If you need a dentist today I'd suggest going to one of the hospitals.

You are wrong, it is more like 300.Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the minimum wage was now 600 baht a day.

Yes! I got muddled - I had a 6 in my head but that's because 300 baht is around £6.

Nice shop, bit like Habitat in the UK! Some quality gear in there!
I presume you're being sarcastic here. Went to Index a couple of weeks ago and was less than impressed. OK if your style is plastic and chipboard. Pricey in comparison to Homepro and Baan and Beyond too.

Baan and Beyond and Homepro have some. Can't recall the designs though.

We ate at Doo Dee tonight - I had ribs and hubby had burger. Both were superb with good service, good portion size and very reasonable prices. They do 'specials' Mon to Fri with a theme each night eg, pasta, stir fry, burgers for 200 baht including a small beer, wine or soft drink. We'll definitely be going back when we next have a craving for western food.

There's a shop in the lane where Somphet market is that has something similar, if not the same. It's on the left hand side about 70-100 metres from the market. They used to be on a stand outside.

.... and of all the Scots men I know, none of them are called Andy. The vast majority of Welshmen aren't called David (or any abbreviations of) either. That's not to mention the amount of Irish men who aren't called Patrick/Pat/Paddy ....
