I had emergency dental treatment at Elite Smile (root canal filling and crown) and couldn't fault them. However, when I went back for a clean I was charged 800 baht for a 5 minute job. Even the basic NHS clean is more thorough.

In my home country and I suppose most others also. If you have a travel insurance it's not valid now
Only if your insurace policy says so.
The insurance policy is only invalid if the claim is related to the political unrest. For example, if you have a fall and break a leg or suffer a heart attack, your insurance is valid. If you're robbed when outdoors after a curfew, then you're not covered.

I don't know if they sell dishwasher powder/liquid/capsules but Baan and Beyond have a large range of cleaning products. It may be worth a look.

It'll only cost 100-200 baht to see a doctor and get advice and the right medication for you.

They also have an office on Changklan Road, almost opposite the Shangri La hotel. They're very helpful to tourists.

Shingles isn't a skin disease ie you don't see a dermatologist. It's a neuropathic disease.

Shingles is actually one of the largest causes of hospitalisation for the elderly in the UK.

Could you advise what the duds were supposed to be and how you discovered this please?I used to use Pharmachoice until they sold me some drugs that were duds.

They were supposed to have been Tramadol and I found out when they didn't ease the pain. At all.

Pharma Choice does it for me. Quite a few stores around CM.Believe they are CM owned and bulk buy. Membership card is free, with no obligations, and gets you a 5-10 % discount and sometimes up to 50% if expiry date is looming.
I mostly use the store next to Klaimor Hospital, parking 100 m past the store if the road is busy.
I like that particular store as well, we use it when also needing some advice from the pharmacist there. Not all Pharmachoice stores are good though, most notably the one on Moon Muang is horrible. Also they're probably not good at wholesale pricing but I don't know this from experience. For non-bulk though with actual knowledge and advice they can't be beat.
Yes, it was the Pharmachoice on Moon Muang that sold me dud pills. They were the branded, expensive ones rather than the generics too.

It's our wedding anniversary on Saturday and it's a toss up between DK and The Edge which appears to be a similar style and cuisine.

Until AEON recently started charging 150 baht for withdrawals, we always used them to withdraw cash from our UK credit card. The ATM always gave a message that the maximum withdrawal limit was 20,000 baht. However, our credit card provider gave a 12,000 baht limit on ATM withdrawals.
Now we get cash (as much as we want up to our credit limit) from the cashier at Bangkok Bank.

They are something like scones, but not sweet in any way. You can eat them with butter or gravy if you want something savory or honey or jam if you want something sweet. They are one of the things that I miss most when it come to American food. Some places make them, but not very well. There is a Popeye's Chicken somewhere in Thailand that makes them and they are the best that I've had here. Can someone from the US please tell me what 'biscuits'are.
Thanks Ulysses. Never seen anything like that. So, what's gravy in the US? I suspect that's going to be different too.

As far as I know, the Pun Pun is the only place in town to get a chicken fried steak. The food is great, John is friendly and his wife is a terrific cook. I'm a pretty big eater but I couldn't finish my meal. I suggested to John last time I was there that a good option would be biscuits with the steak, I would willingly pass on some of the side dishes for chicken fried steak and biscuits, a little bit of heaven on earth.
Can someone from the US please tell me what 'biscuits'are. In the UK a biscuit is sweet, maybe what you call cookies?
Another TV sponsor who's restaurant we walk past daily has on offer 'biscuits and gravy' - to us Brits that's a cookie served with a sauce made from the juice of meat! Yuk!

Post removed.
Rule 11) Do not post slurs, degrading or overly negative comments directed towards Thailand, specific locations, Thai institutions such as the judicial or law enforcement system, Thai culture, Thai people or any other group on the basis of race, nationality, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
If this rule was applied across the Thaivisa forums, I reckon 90% of posts would be removed.
Interestingly, I made this comment last night and this morning I find my post has been removed. Can someone quote which rule I broke please?

We walked through a bit of the old city and down Sridonchai Road last night. The only place not serving alcohol was 7-11!

This is the first (and the last!) year that we've been in Chiang Mai during March.
Now that we're having some rain, will the smog disappear for the season or will it be back in a day or so?
