  1. CREC’s First Special High-Rise Project Not only is the OAG under scrutiny, but China Railway No.10 Engineering Group (CREC), a subsidiary of a major Chinese state enterprise, has also come under fire from architectural circles. Questions arose about why a company specializing in railway construction received a contract for a special high-rise building, which was advertised as “CREC’s first special high-rise construction project abroad.” The company had promoted this project as reflecting China’s engineering competitive capabilities as it makes serious inroads into the Southeast Asian market https://www.khaosodenglish.com/featured/2025/03/31/probe-focuses-thai-chinese-venture-in-bangkoks-fatal-building-collapse/
  2. There is no 100% quake proof building, but the Japanese buildings are as close to 100% as you get, they are designed with strict engineering standards to be highly earthquake-resistant,
  3. That is a totally new subject Thailand has a very very poor safety record its toooooooo expensive to implement safety
  4. I dont know only guessing but this would have been cut to the bone and a lot of matrial would have been substituted but has to be proved, there is one certain is the design was incorrect any first year student can find that out Table top buildings are not quake proof not recommend
  5. Building Design: Presented by FORUM ARCHITECT Co. Ltd. in 2018 and Meinhardt (Thailand) Ltd. (structural design) with a budget of 73 million baht Construction: Budget of 2,560 million baht ($75.4 million), contracted to ITD-CREC (Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited) joint venture with China Railway for 2,136 million baht ($62.9 million), below the median price. Payments of 966.80 million baht ($28.5 million) have already been disbursed Supervision: Contracted to PKW Joint Venture for 74.65 million baht ($2.2 million) to supervise and certify material quality testing ( who certified the plans, who approved it?) Goverment Committe approved the design As this was the cheapest bid you can reasonably assume cheap materials would be used
  6. Not saying that the wrong cement was used that is up to the investigation CREC the chinse side of the join venture Has No experince in high rise building where i come from we do due diligence on contract tender this contractor would not have made the list
  7. The Building was A table top design no center core this design is NOT quake proof
  8. Cement Grade Compressive Strength (After 28 Days) Applications Key Features 33 Grade 33 MPa Plastering, masonry work, low-strength concrete - Suitable for non-load-bearing structures - Economical for basic projects - Less commonly used today 43 Grade 43 MPa Residential buildings, precast concrete - Versatile for medium-load structures - Commonly used in residential and commercial projects 53 Grade 53 MPa High-rise buildings, bridges, heavy structures - Ideal for heavy-load and high -rise structures - Gains strength rapidly - Requires careful curing Grade 53 should have been used I do not know what the project spec calls for the thing i can tell you the chinse are in the dark ages when it comes to curing cement they still use bedding straw insted of a curing agent, any how the cost difference between grade 53 and say grade 33 is substantial, once cured the strength can easly measured using a glegg hammer

  10. think you are wrong go look other news you will see same columns https://world.thaipbs.or.th/detail/contract-for-state-audit-office-construction-under-scrutiny/57041
  11. Why would u say its unlikely the concrete below spec ?? it would be one of the main reasons along with the reo, if you look at the picture on other post you will see lots of reo but unkown if meets spec dont think the public will ever find out the reasons big cover up as normal
  12. Slowly leaking out , Industry Minister Ekanat Promphan, after inspecting steel samples collected from the construction site, refrained from making accusations but commented, “Just seeing it left me stunned.” if a guy who is a politician can see this it must be bad !!
  13. What iam reading from the news is that some of the documents were requests for Inspections, normally you dont request Inspections, what i think is the wrong terminology has been used here, my bet is the documents were NCR reports ( non comformace reports ) which are used to list defects found and to be addressed by the contractor The question has to be asked Why was CREC even on a tender list for the project if it did not have no experience of building high rises
  14. But ! But! this project was supposed to be a star! No coruption on the project !
  15. What is amazing is how did they get this design approved ?? did anybody do due diligence on this !!
  16. You did not answer the question ( as far as you know ) There should be approval cert or paperwork attesting to the fact ?? but the problem is how do you know ! answer you dont know !! coruption is rife in thailand its easy to get approval when the baht is king!
  17. Think every one knows the answer ?? but will it see light of day No,! swept under the carpet, will be forgotten next news cycle, You buy cheap you get cheap!!
  18. If you think Bangkok did well !! go tell it to the familys of the dead!!
  19. That is a Thai standard and i dont work here in the Thai construction Industry thank god ! more in a western style industry were they have safety and quality and now you are changing its superficial cracks instead of cracks you need to be more specific when posting
  20. cracks in walls need to be Inspected to determin the extent, are the wall load bearing ?? by saying they do not matter can only be determined by a structural engineer and you are not that !
