Today I went out to look at some bikes and, unfortunately I've missed out on 'BlackArtemis' Ninja 650 by an hour,or two. He's sold it to someone else,so this can make my choice a little easier...the other 2 bikes where CBR500,very nice and almost new,as well as CB500F,also under 1 year old. There is another Ninja 650 that I've contacted, but he cancel the appointment,so no go with this one.
I think now, today, that maybe one of those Honda's may suit me well, they both look great, run smoothly and may be just good for some time and,if it will start to be boring, than I can always upgrade...and by that time, there may be something new and more interesting on the horizon...
I'll give it a few more days

jezzz, a really new Versys under 10000KM for 180K THB. shit, I feel really stupid now paying more for the new CB500F.
There is a story behind this and I'm not clear what it is....one have to stay focused,if the deal is to good.

Yes getting back on topic I was wondering.....
Funcat.....You never really said what your intended usage
would be for this bike.
Just out of curiosity what type of riding will you be
mainly using this bike for?
Are you more of a ride for fun/sport type? Looking for the roads
with the most twists per mile
Or
Is it an all around bike to be used as a daily ride & touring type of ride?
I think many times folks who ask how is X-Brand bike really need to throw that info out there
as it helps folks answering know whether their own experiences with
X brand bike is even relevant to the OP
So..... if you dont mind my asking
I live in Mae Rim,some 15km outside the city,so it's mostly for fun, short trips etc...not enough experience to do any 'sporty' stuff, but would like to get there one day...but for now, mostly FUN

Well fucat, if I were you I would get a loan and then go and buy something really nice! The Versys for instance!
Correct...you are on the right track here...if this was true,I'll jump on this...
http://classifieds.thaivisa.com/automotives-vehicles/motorcycles/kawasaki-versys-650cc-275337.html
...but I'm in CM and can't see deals like this here...Yalaaaa!!
(I could even stretch my budget a little(maybe get a loan)
....but this looks 'fishy' to me...and too far...
-
If Yamaha could bring theirs 600cc series bikes here for the competitive 'thai' price,I'll be all over it....but for now,it is still a limited market.

Thank-you thamteak , its just that with more and more bikes now being available it Thailand , for every Honda made , there is another bike choice available that is either = better built , cheaper to buy, faster , cheaper to maintain , better on fuel , better looking ,more exciting ,stylish and better value. In most cases , several of these , and in some cases (IMO)all of these. ll2 you are correct in that there are currently more bikes available in England (at far higher prices)but riding a motorbike in England is really frowned upon and discouraged by the goverment (bad roads , speed cameras hidden everywhere , mental police , and if you want to ride "greenlanes" you have the problem with the selfish ramblers). And the weather as taninthai says!.This is the reason i will emigrate full time to Thailand once im 50. Im in England now , have been in CM since March , and just missed the launch of the Benelli 600 (think the 300 is out about now). I think this would be a perfect bike for funcat , and at a very good price.
".... I think this would be a perfect bike for funcat...".....well,I was the one who asked about Benelli 300 a few months ago (can't find the link in the search),as I recollect, most of the posters have encouraged me to wait for CBR300,which by now will be introduced about the same time as Benelli...and I think most of the people will turn to Honda anyway....so,this case is closed for me and for now,it either be a Honda 500 cc,or the Ninja 650...
Give me a few more days to make up my mind...but feel free to continue on this subject
-
I think you stay Thailand to long LL experienced riders buying a 500 twin .....lol
I told you that you do not see these bikes on the road in the uk and you still go on to say they are great sellers in America and Europe, you really need to be abit more open minded to other brands.have you seen the size of the roads in good old America the land that loves Harley's ,I don't think they sell well over there either .
As said good bike for Thailand when it came out but that's about it,open your eyes LL the biking world does not revolve around honda and Thailand.
The cb650 is a different story that's will be a world wide success.
I'm done said enough on this subject
Sorry to say that, but this topic is not about "biking world"...it is about Thailand and Honda is a big part of it...also,it is not about bikes for pro-racers.
Upgrading from CBR250,means not to jump to the 'super bike' category....but 650cc can be still considered...
CB650F would be nice, but twice my budget...

Thanks guys...I see a lot of good posts here and I'm still contemplating...versatility v. power...newer v. older...traffic v. highway etc....a lot of things to consider.
I'm gonna go out tomorrow to see and maybe test ride some of them.....so,hope I'll know little more....or be more confused
-
get a versys ,ive had two ninjas and an er6n but the versys is in a different league for a little bit more money
Haha....that's what good about bikes...there is always an upgrade coming...for a bit more money
-
^ Well then consider this:
You will out 'experience' the weak, boring Honda much quicker, and want for an upgrade much sooner.
I'll test the Ninja first...I know, this is a good recipe...for going for the best
-
Both are really good value here bought used, as both have shockingly bad resale value now.
You will also outgrow the small, square Honda quicker.
..or,do you mean 'quacker'..
I'll see,if I can rent the equivalent of those bikes, but still, with my knowledge about motorbikes, I may be just fooled by the speed, looks,or whatever...to justify the right bike will not come easy without experience...

Thanks...and more please....I think, that the dam_n green color on the Ninja is what throws me off,but the rest looks good
The rest is really down to you
One thing about Thailand if it is just the color you dont like that is a pretty easy fix
Wrap or paint
Of course if you change the dominant color you must also go to the DMV
& tell them so they can change it in the green book
Or shop more & find the color you want. Both bikes come up daily for sale
as both were popular
Best advice is really go ride them both as both are easily rented
See which fits "your" needs
Yes,I agree about color,I wasn't very serious about it...but coming from riding a CBR 250 (softly),I want something with more guts ...and still trying to make a best choice, since the price is about double than my bike,it's kind of a big decision...I've had a few Hondas before, but never a single Kawasaki...that's why I'm asking the pros of their opinion...
-
It's not a good comparison. Why is it so important to you?
Because those bikes are in the same price range and I want a good upgrade from the CBR250.
-
Thanks...and more please....I think, that the dam_n green color on the Ninja is what throws me off,but the rest looks good
-
...how would those bikes compare? If the second hand 3 year old Ninja 650 was the same price as 1 year old CBR500/CB500F,which bike would you rather get?
-
I only asked about the X5 in comparison with the EcoSport, because I know one particular X5 may be available for sale soon. There is not to many around,so it will be nice to know something more about it...If somebody got an experience with this particular car,I would appreciate the input....
...and thanks to posters, who already shared their views here...
-
Don't get me wrong...I'm keeping the Ranger(at least for 5 years)...and the X5,or EcoSport will be a keeper as well for awhile, more like 'around town' car....I was just thinking, that (instead of the maintenance costs) the X5 could bring much more pleasure to life of driving...

Well,it's been kind of boring around here (except for the obvious c... situation),so what do you guys think, should I get a brand new EcoSport,or 10 year old BMW X5?I know,it is kind of weird to compare these two,but let say the X5 is really nice, has only 70+K km on the clock and....I can possibly get it for the same money...
...fire away....I do have some time to think about it,but some helpful thoughts will be appreciated...
-
I think it's a Nissan based engine,so it should be no problem to service it...
-
...mania,I'm in CM...so,before I'll call them up,do you know a good place to get it?...of course,I can easy make the 'Thai style' one myself...
Try these guys funcat
Right over the bridge from the US consulate
Really nice guys & they had Phoenix in stock when I checked for my pal
BNS Speed Shop 089 955 7727
Thanks...

Do you know,if they make it for the CBR250 ?
They make them for many bikes & probably cbr250 for sure
here is a FB page but most shops have them
https://www.facebook.com/PhoenixShop
There are other brands too but Phoenix is about the best quality with others being a bit flimsy or one
sided support. Not too light though as I knew someone in US wanted one.
Went to get it but when I felt the box weight I knew he would not want to pay shipping on that.
Agree with others it is not pretty but for those who ride wet/tour etc
( I dont so do not have/need one ) it does seem to work well
Funny though when you think about it.
Most do a tail tidy as they want the uncluttered look.
Drawback is wet muck flings up on your back
So they have to put something else back on there
One would have to decide which looks better/worse
Stock fender which protects from rain or this
PS: hahah Thai backyard style
...mania,I'm in CM...so,before I'll call them up,do you know a good place to get it?...of course,I can easy make the 'Thai style' one myself...

Finally found a mud guard for my cbr650f. Tired of having a dirty ass all the time:lol:
It is Phoenix brand 2400 thb. Bought from 320sp shop. They moved to a new place 3 km to my house.
Looks good and strong. No vibration, rattle or movement.
But had to remove the swingarm spools as mudguard does fit with it. They have fabricated another set of holders so no chance. Tried to modify the mudguard with drill but spools are thick. One or another.
Anyway will use the mudguard for only rainy season lets say 3 or 4 months and will put spools back for track days of course.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Do you know,if they make it for the CBR250 ?

Yes I think after reading all the reviews Yamaha has the edge, after all with the 883 I would be buying a less powerful, less advanced machine for 200k more than the Yam. The Bolt is a real looker and very customizable. So I will go ahead and book the Yam, I was told there's a 2 month wait ..it's going to be a long 2 months for me.
and you will save a fortune at the dentist..... those Harleys can rattle wisdom teeth loose!
Nonsense, the engine is rubber mounted man, I didn't fell any vibrations on my 2002 RK
unfortunately we have no immocon for toungue in cheek...........
...one can use this

Could you PM to me the same information--before they close the Thread--I am planning a house move in the near future and a 'Sack Truck' would be very useful, also.
..just contact/PM CMKiwi....
CBR500/CB500F v. Ninja 650....

Now,just a quick question about preference...CBR500 v. CB500F(and there is also the cruiser CB500X)...maybe to take the 'heat' of the Honda v. Kawasaki issue
