  1. There is also Supiah Panich (probably incorrect spelling) whom are down the road that leads to the Bus station. Driving from the Ping river end, it is on the right hand side 2 buildings past the Honda dealership and before the Isuzu franchise....well before McCormick Hospital.

They have a good range of Michelin and Pirelli Tyres along with the usual Thai IRC selection. Possibly the cheapest in CM and while there you can also look at their aftermarket bike parts and accessories.

SP dont do the fitting but thats cheap to get done in any tyre repair or replacement place.

    Good luck

    OK...thanks for this....

  2. Also go to end of 1006, at the river, turn left, past Dukes rest. (now closed) turn left at Mikes Burgers, down not far, there is a bank on the right side, sorry forget which one, with a soi next to it. turn right on that soi, within a block distance, left side, is a wholesale motorcycle tire outlet. They dont mount, but much cheaper price even with paying another place to mount them. Thats the only place I will buy tires for my bike.

Can you show the location on Google maps/street...:)

  3. The Piston Shop (Khun Nat) sells Pirelli tyres.

He speaks English OK, and gives a good service.

On Atsadathorn Road, left hand side if coming from the moat.

All the other Chiangmai TV members are too busy discussing Western food to reply!

    Haha...I think I know where it is....Thanks!

  4. Do you have children in Thailand ?

No, but I am Thai and I had 10 Thai Uncles and Aunts and they have countless kids/grandkids.

All of whom appear polite and respectful to adults, even the ones in gangs.

I probably have 100+ relatives under the age of 20 in Thailand.

One of the serious problems in the west is the young victimizing the elderly, that's very rare here.

In my opinion, poor Thail parents do a far better job of bringing up children than poor western parents.

Poor people being the norm, in every country in the world.

I think part of the problem with all the Thai bashing threads is essentially culture shock.

Elderly western men from a privileged background, mixing with dirt poor young Thai women.

They've never mixed with the poor before, and suddenly it's completely different.

Can't imagine many TV posters are poor or uneducated.

If they were, they wouldn't be in Thailand, playground for men with a bit of money.

If you are Thai and have no children...than yes,you can have your opinion...in the West we call it 'freedom of speech'....but what are you doing here? It's about Western father raising concerns about the way the Thai lazy mothers are just letting their kids grow 'the natural way'....I got some of the examples here in 'my' home....If I don't say anything, nobody will move a finger......and I would say,the kids have respect to the Thai elderly,Thai teachers,Thai family....hmmm,that's about it.....

  5. ...would this qualify for a good wrap ?smile.png

    Hi,

I have been thinking about this wrapping the car business as i took a look at a friends from Bangkok. It was mat black just like the picture and looked awesome! How much did it cost to wrap your truck and how long did it take? If it is cheaper than the 50,000 i was quoted for a re-spray, then i just may wel consider it.

Does anybody know where there is a garage around the Chanthaburi/Trat area of Thailand that does this?

    Thanks

Well,I'm in CM and this wasn't my truck, but I may guess, that good quality wrap will be no less than 40K.You want also the best vinyl, specially with dark colors,to be sure of easy removal.I still think, that good wrap has advantages over respray, because you can so easy go back to your original color, which makes a big difference, when you'll decide to sell...

  6. The oil change should cause no problem,if done by the professional within the describe time frame (10 min)....

There is not to many Wildtak 3.2's on the roads yet,but they're highly noticeable between all the 'grey' Isuzu's and...the other no-fun trucks...get what you like(!),or what your Thai wife tells you to get... tongue.pngwink.png

Thought the 2.2 and 3.2 looked the same. Are they not ?

I can spot the difference....you probably not... wink.png

    What is it. ?

    The side markings and....wheels ...biggrin.png

  7. Thx Thailoht and BkkJames. You guys are correct on both accounts. My wife keeps telling me this thing about how only Isuzus and Toyotas have good resale value and how everything else sucks. That can change like the wind in Thailand, just like how I see more Thais buying cars with automatic transmissions these days compared to years.

I saw a brand new white Wildtrak this morning...3.2 L. I was like...WOW! I would have paid for it on the spot, but the dealer told me it was already ordered and paid for by a customer. I was told a one month waiting period, OR..get this...20,000 baht to him and he could have one for me by tomorrow or any day of the week via his associate in Bangkok. Not sure what to think about that. My wife seems to be more concerned about appearance than anything else, particularly when it comes to the Isuzu which in her opinion and mine does look nicer inside. That along with the new Superdaylight model and red-orange chilli paint do make it an eye catcher. Although they are both 4x4, the Isuzu still doesn't look that high off the ground. Anyone else get that impression? I mean when you look and any other make of 4x4 they definitely look like a 4x4.

I'm still interested in this oil changing thing with the Wildtrak. Anyone out there that can elaborate more on this? Also I was quoted 1,109,000 baht for the Wildtrak which includes everything, tax, insurance, etc..

Is that because many of them are stationary beside the road because of a broken down waterpump ?

You're asking the wrong person...I have no problem with Ford...

BTW,how many Rangers did you actually see "stationary beside the road because of a broken down waterpump"...?!...I know, you don't have to answer...

  9. What is this?

    A Thai bashing thread?

My experience with Thai people regarding my tires are always positive!

I am also checking my tires time by time and just tell the guys which psi i need and they check the pressure with their meter and do it correctly everytime.

I do this at car tire shops though not small scooter repair shops of course and never use pumps at petrol stations, most have no calibration.

Why is it have to be bashing?....I took ones my Audi to the repair shop....check the tires pressure after....one had 70 psi(!!) in it... w00t.gif

Did you tell them specific pressure for your tire before they start to inflate it?

I always tell them at the beginning and no problems.

    I do tell them now....than I check...and than...let excess air out... tongue.pnglaugh.png

  12. The promotion on the 1.5 s Fiesta seems a good deal at the moment 580,000 baht against 719,000 baht for the new one which has just a few minor alterations !!!

The newest Fiesta is equipped with the 1 L Ecoboost ,125HP engine...it's a little 'pocket-rocket' to compare with the others...

  13. Do not get an Almera. We were loaned one for a week. One of the worst cars I have ever driven. Now renamed the Nissan Bagofshite.

Had a Honda City for couple of years. Good cars but thirsty.

    ...so,what's so bad about Almera?

Woefully underpowered, dreadful CVT system (compared to Honda & Suzuki), poorly built with a nasty tin can door slam, very cheap interior (compared to Suzuki) and felt less than surefooted on the road.

Apart from rear seat and boot space, the Swift is a far superior car in my experience.

It's an inexpensive ECO car with 1.2 L engine(!)...they all are underpowered...but if one does not like to be cramped like in a sardine can,the Almera is an obvious choice...IMO of course...smile.png
