  1. Sorry...being away for a few days, moving from our house to a new place...kind of a nightmare...and no internet(don't know why it takes so long just to switch an address?!)!!

...but I did put up a deposit on a 'new' bike,so 'll see how it works out tomorrow(hmm, already today biggrin.png )...can't wait smile.png

  2. Funcat, can I ask why you are upgrading from a 250 after just 1 month?

Or did I read that post in the 250 thread wrong !

    No offense, just curious.

It just happened...the guy that bought it from me,wanted it as much as I,when I was buying...and since I may be having some more cash to spend soon,so why not....500 is still better than 250cc...and 650 is better than 500cc wink.png

  3. Over 100 answers so far, impressive manbiggrin.png .

I haven't tried any of the bikes mentioned so I can't give recommendations really.

Rent one of each if possible before making up your mind.

I heard many complain that upgrading from a cbr250 to a cbr500 will quickly be a bit lame experience for many.

I heard from many that the Versus is a very good touring bike and I know a few that owns them.

It all depends what you are gonna use it for I guess and your riding style.

I'm doing my best, under the circumstances....I'm in the process of selling our house and moving...I tell you,it's good that it doesn't happened to often(10 years in my case)....but Versys may be still good for the future(unless a super good deal, like this one in Yalllla wink.png ),for now I'm still working on my topic bikes...

  4. Now,just a quick question about preference...CBR500 v. CB500F(and there is also the cruiser CB500X)...maybe to take the 'heat' of the Honda v. Kawasaki issue tongue.png

i say cb500x. it is the best of the 500 series in terms of flexibility and comfort. Plus it handles nearly as good as a cbr500r plus you can go for mild trails with it.

its suspension is also more suitable for us foreigners.

dont go for cb500f. no wind/weather protection.

so cb500x or cbr500r is the best choice. cbr500r is also a lot comfy and it does not have a supersport ergonomics. It is also upright if you want.

One thing makes these bikes super fun at corners up there is light front end which makes the turn ins almost telepathic. Plus with its light wait, easy transitions.

I think the 500F is the best. I like the fact it's a naked bike and has no screen. I found the seat on the X very uncomfortable as it pushed me too far forward.

...a bit controversial posts, don't you think? ....so,this is exactly what I've asked for...maybe that's why they make them this way...

I've only tried the CBR for now...and she feels quite good, must say smile.png

  5. ...so,what do you think?...sound almost like those Nigerians tongue.pngbiggrin.png

As soon as he wants you to transfer some money first you will know laugh.png

Seriously: How can we comment this answer without knowing what you have written to him first?

Ohh..com'on...just the usual inquire ..."Is the bike still for sale?"

  6. Today I went out to look at some bikes and, unfortunately I've missed out on 'BlackArtemis' Ninja 650 by an hour,or two. He's sold it to someone else,so this can make my choice a little easier...the other 2 bikes where CBR500,very nice and almost new,as well as CB500F,also under 1 year old. There is another Ninja 650 that I've contacted, but he cancel the appointment,so no go with this one.

I think now, today, that maybe one of those Honda's may suit me well, they both look great, run smoothly and may be just good for some time and,if it will start to be boring, than I can always upgrade...and by that time, there may be something new and more interesting on the horizon...

I'll give it a few more days smile.png

  7. Yes getting back on topic I was wondering.....

Funcat.....You never really said what your intended usage

    would be for this bike.

Just out of curiosity what type of riding will you be

    mainly using this bike for?

Are you more of a ride for fun/sport type? Looking for the roads

with the most twists per mile

    Or

Is it an all around bike to be used as a daily ride & touring type of ride?

I think many times folks who ask how is X-Brand bike really need to throw that info out there

as it helps folks answering know whether their own experiences with

X brand bike is even relevant to the OP

So..... if you dont mind my asking wink.png

I live in Mae Rim,some 15km outside the city,so it's mostly for fun, short trips etc...not enough experience to do any 'sporty' stuff, but would like to get there one day...but for now, mostly FUN smile.png

  8. Well fucat, if I were you I would get a loan and then go and buy something really nice! The Versys for instance!

Correct...you are on the right track here...if this was true,I'll jump on this...

    http://classifieds.thaivisa.com/automotives-vehicles/motorcycles/kawasaki-versys-650cc-275337.html

...but I'm in CM and can't see deals like this here...Yalaaaa!!

(I could even stretch my budget a little(maybe get a loan) ;)....but this looks 'fishy' to me...and too far...

  9. Thank-you thamteak , its just that with more and more bikes now being available it Thailand , for every Honda made , there is another bike choice available that is either = better built , cheaper to buy, faster , cheaper to maintain , better on fuel , better looking ,more exciting ,stylish and better value. In most cases , several of these , and in some cases (IMO)all of these. ll2 you are correct in that there are currently more bikes available in England (at far higher prices)but riding a motorbike in England is really frowned upon and discouraged by the goverment (bad roads , speed cameras hidden everywhere , mental police , and if you want to ride "greenlanes" you have the problem with the selfish ramblers). And the weather as taninthai says!.This is the reason i will emigrate full time to Thailand once im 50. Im in England now , have been in CM since March , and just missed the launch of the Benelli 600 (think the 300 is out about now). I think this would be a perfect bike for funcat , and at a very good price.

".... I think this would be a perfect bike for funcat...".....well,I was the one who asked about Benelli 300 a few months ago (can't find the link in the search),as I recollect, most of the posters have encouraged me to wait for CBR300,which by now will be introduced about the same time as Benelli...and I think most of the people will turn to Honda anyway....so,this case is closed for me and for now,it either be a Honda 500 cc,or the Ninja 650...

Give me a few more days to make up my mind...but feel free to continue on this subject smile.png

  10. I think you stay Thailand to long LL experienced riders buying a 500 twin .....lol

I told you that you do not see these bikes on the road in the uk and you still go on to say they are great sellers in America and Europe, you really need to be abit more open minded to other brands.have you seen the size of the roads in good old America the land that loves Harley's ,I don't think they sell well over there either .

As said good bike for Thailand when it came out but that's about it,open your eyes LL the biking world does not revolve around honda and Thailand.

The cb650 is a different story that's will be a world wide success.

I'm done said enough on this subject

Sorry to say that, but this topic is not about "biking world"...it is about Thailand and Honda is a big part of it...also,it is not about bikes for pro-racers.

Upgrading from CBR250,means not to jump to the 'super bike' category....but 650cc can be still considered... wink.png CB650F would be nice, but twice my budget... sad.png

  11. Thanks guys...I see a lot of good posts here and I'm still contemplating...versatility v. power...newer v. older...traffic v. highway etc....a lot of things to consider.

I'm gonna go out tomorrow to see and maybe test ride some of them.....so,hope I'll know little more....or be more confused biggrin.png

  12. Both are really good value here bought used, as both have shockingly bad resale value now. smile.png

You will also outgrow the small, square Honda quicker. smile.png

    ..or,do you mean 'quacker'.. biggrin.png

I'll see,if I can rent the equivalent of those bikes, but still, with my knowledge about motorbikes, I may be just fooled by the speed, looks,or whatever...to justify the right bike will not come easy without experience... ;)

  13. Thanks...and more please....I think, that the dam_n green color on the Ninja is what throws me off,but the rest looks good wink.png

The rest is really down to you

One thing about Thailand if it is just the color you dont like that is a pretty easy fix

    Wrap or paint

Of course if you change the dominant color you must also go to the DMV

& tell them so they can change it in the green book

Or shop more & find the color you want. Both bikes come up daily for sale

    as both were popular

Best advice is really go ride them both as both are easily rented

    See which fits "your" needs

Yes,I agree about color,I wasn't very serious about it...but coming from riding a CBR 250 (softly),I want something with more guts ...and still trying to make a best choice, since the price is about double than my bike,it's kind of a big decision...I've had a few Hondas before, but never a single Kawasaki...that's why I'm asking the pros of their opinion...wink.png
