Agree, that’s strange. I think the Thais have a stereotype that good people are wealthier. Maybe something to do with merit (you did good things in past lives so are wealthy now) or social class standing (We know where that one comes from).

I think it looks quite typical standard here. When business is going well, we make it as difficult for foreigners as we can without upsetting International media, but during/after crises such as Black May 92, the financial crisis of 1997, Sars, bird flu, Tsunami and Covid, we stand with hat in hand and welcome foreigners. If they was transparent they adapt the visa rules and residence regulations as in the US / Europe then most criminals and a lot of others will think twice. But ????????

Why should your average working Thai give a monkey's about that?

Most likely 50 % of Thais nowadays live directly or indirectly from the tourist trade in one or "another" way and money or lack of it is the most effective way to praise or punish people so they follow the law.

It’s possible the rainy season may extend to later in the season than usual since it seem to be running a little late this year. Never know with elnino weather patterns, anything can happen.

Thanks , yes I have observed the delayed rain season here also so have to take it into consideration.

Still some downpours but not as frequent or heavy. By November just a few days (so Google says)

Thanks, think to do some cycling with a change in scenery so hope for dry weather and have only been up there February / March previously.

Everyone can observe the same thing, the exchange rates are published by the banks!...

    https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Other-Services/View-Rates/Foreign-Exchange-Rates

It is not "misleading", it is the bank's correct current exchange rate.

Yes and no. At the bottom of the page it's a currency calculator and previously when example you key in DKK 30000,-that would have show TT rates, i.e., Thb 150000,- on the calculator not the Bank note rate which after the misleading change show Thb 75000,- which is wrong because you will receive Thb 150000,- for they who transfer money which I guess most of us do. Try the calculator with Danish, Swedish or Norwegian currency and you will see and then compare to bank note rate which is near to worthless. Btw, SCB still, as of yesterday used the same as previous calculation on their foreign exchange calculator with TT which also Bangkok used until a few days ago.

Mind you, if you find one in Bangkok for B5000 less, you still have to go to Bangkok to buy it, and then ride it back to Hua Hin!

Well worth it and and if for no other reason than the principle. No reason that a motorbike shall cost more her than example Phuket! Just pure greed. And I have actually seen a higher price difference than 5K and that from one of the main dealers on the most popular brand in Thailand.

Nothing "revolutionary" about  amoxicillin + clavulanic acid, been around for years

You would definitely have seen improvement by now if it were working.. Can you post a pix? I am a bit confused by your reference to it seeming ready to burst as that is more suggestive of an abscess than a diffuse cellulitis

Possible that you will have to be admitted for IV antibiotics.

What hospital are you going to ?

Have sent you a message with picture.

If it seems to be worsening do not wait for appointment.

Also, whatever hospital you saw that doctor at, will have an Infectious DIsease specialist. They all do.

I don't know if it's better or worse, but the swelling has moved down on my cheek so I feel like I have a thick "red Northeastern sausage" that goes from the right corner of my mouth to the middle of my cheek and is very sensitive!
Anyway, despite some confusion about Cellulitis vs Cellulite, I have made an appointment with the doctor you recommended. By the way, I also found out that he works at Ramathibodi Hospital which, from what I can tell, accepts foreigners at their Premium Center and at a university hospital, I guess the doctors are among the best of the best!

Amoxicillin may not be the best antibiotic to use.

Swelling and pain normally goes down within the first 24hrs if it's working.

You shouldn't be waiting a week, especially in this case where it appears not to be working.

I got the message when I first started with the antibiotic that what I was given was nearly  a "revolution" in antibiotics. However, on each sealed tablet stay "Amoksiklav with k" 2x Tablets 1000Mg (amoxicillin clavulanic acid) Sandoz Novartis)

    Thanks Felt

Cellulitis on the face is a serious condition. If you can schedule an appointment within 1-2 days with your preferred doctor, that's acceptable. However, if that's not possible, it's crucial to see any available doctor as soon as possible—preferably today—to address the situation promptly.

Ugh, don't scare the crap out of me. However, I understand the depth of the message.

Next scheduled appointment with current doctor is Tuesday (unfortunately far from a specialist on infection diseases) then I have been on antibiotics 7 days which as I understand is the norm with this disease before eventually further treatment!

    Thanks

  12. Can anyone recommend a hospital in Bangkok with infectious disease specialists. I have been to the doctor and given antibiotics. (Amoksiklav 1000mg twice a day) So far for five days now but the swelling on my face just keeps getting more painful and almost seems to burst at any moment and I'm a bit worried about the infection spreading!

    Thanks for any information.
