  1. You are right there are alternatives but for anyone doing online biz Digital and Namods Paypal is still the most accepted and trusted form of payment in the WoRLD. And so quiet important to some people. MAYBE not you though I suspect?
  2. Maybe I'll share that info with you if you become less arrogant. I'm guessing you are either German or American anyways. During the Covid Pandemic when Thailand was definitely discriminating against Westerners about Vaccines I wrote many Emails and I like to think my effort helped Expats in Thailand. However sitting on your ass and absolutely doing naff all will probably not anything apart from giving your ass great comport off course. Believe it or not Thailand will try take as much off us as they can until you stand up to it that will always be so because it's Asian culture.
  3. WHY on Earth would you close your account that make no sense just leave it ! Better to make them forcefully close your account then they will have to explain to shareholders why they forcefully closed thousands of accounts in Thailand for nor reason. Of course remove all cash goes without saying. I won't be closing my account but I will remove all funds before the 30th November and leave that pleasure to them. People please don't close your accounts that's Paypal wants just take out all your funds! This is going to look pretty bad for Paypal especially Paypal Singapore if it makes international news so please lobby as many international news agencies about it as possible.
  4. Hello Paypal Singapore my recommendation is to pull out of your deal with Thailand if you feel it breaks your ethical standards. Threatening to pull out will become big News in Thailand and get you a lots of FREE publicity. Because Thailand would loose face they will scramble to find a solution that works very quickly very sorry that's the way things work here so better get used to it if you want to biz here. Just an idea if you read this and don't support discrimination against foreigners which I am very sure is the case.
  5. I agree I think it's just the easiest option for Paypal as they won't need to employ someone checking foreigners ID's.
  6. I don't believe any other financial institutions are being forced to use NDID if they are being singled out then they could take legal action. I don't believe Papal reps would cry over it they just say sorry goodbye.
  7. If it's so then Paypal should offer an explanation and not just say they are closing our accounts End Off sorry good bye after 10 years. Are Thai authorities forcing NDID on PayPal but not other financial companies no others are forced to use NDID for example Bitcub don't use NDID??
  8. But can you use your pink ID card to sign up for the NDID service National Digital Identity? According to info I have read they only accept Thai ID's
  9. Could be but they are under the same regulation as other financial companies I think it's probably just the simplest solution for them. When I registered for a Bitkub account they requested a copy of my Passport and a selfie with the Passport done Realtime with their phone APP so no way to fake plus utility bill. They don't use NDID I presume because they don't want to exclude foreigners and that's a Thai company.
  10. Yes I agree the Paypal business model they are offering in Thailand be attractive for Thai's to adopt as there are already very good payment options available.
  11. It will probably work with any 13 digit number until they check it. You can test if it works by trying register for NDID through your Bank for Kbank you can even do it through your Mobile App. But if does work that would be perfect!
  12. Why not? Accounts are not literally connected they just transfer funds to your account same as Wise or Payoneer.
  13. They should find a better solution like a copy of the Passport and utility bill or what ever if they want I will get certified by my Embassy if they like. But I don't think the solution is to close down my account after 10+ years without a single problem. Best solution would be just leave my account in Singapore.
  14. But Paypal are not required by regulation to use the NDID system for ID all they are required to do is verify identity same as a Bank but PayPal has made the choice to use NDID for Identity verification! Note they say we are using NOT we have to use. From Paypal website. 7) Why does PayPal need me to enroll in NDID? Financial services providers like PayPal are obliged under Thai law to verify the identity of their customers, which helps us keep PayPal safe for everyone using it. We are using the National Digital ID (NDID) platform to help us verify the identity of customers seeking to use PayPal Thailand personal accounts (including existing account holders whose accounts will be transferred to PayPal Thailand). As Thailand’s digital identity verification service, NDID will allow us to do so in a standardized, reliable, fast and safe manner. This requirement applies regardless of whether you have linked a Thai bank account to your PayPal account or not. https://www.paypal.com/th/webapps/mpp/thailand-relaunch-faq?locale.x=en_TH&utm_source=epsilon&utm_campaign=A_OW_EM_AH_HR_NI_NI_202208_182268_Email_for_Opted_in_PPTHConLaunch_Individual_Merchant_TH_en_TH&utm_medium=email
  15. But you don't know which regulation so I guess that's why you don't really answer the question lol.
  16. What's a government regulation? Do foreigners need a Thai ID to open a Thai Bank Account?
  17. Paypal has made the choice to only accept Thai ID's for proof of identification.
  18. Which regulation exactly? PayPal will operating under laws for banks and banks accept Foreign Passport ID's but PayPal will only accept Thai ID's.
  19. Think they are also keen to collect Tax from Freelancers and with Big Brother watching many might be forced to Payup by Paypal. They already write in their terms of service they can demand peoples Tax ID's or else freeze their accounts.
  20. I think probably they are doing this to intentionally prevent Digital Nomads coming to Thailand. Still just over the borders there are no such restrictions.
  21. Money laundering is always used as an excuse. So are only foreigners laundering money?
