All permanent markets will sell roll your own tobacco. "Ya soop". Likely to be far rougher than your Drum or Old Holborn. Throwaway prices and that is what you may well be doing, throwing it away. Bit too much for most farangs.
thanks for your advice..but you know rolling tabacco (western) is not expensive..300 baht for 50 gram lasts me 10 days.
ya soop mixed with it is ok but on its own its throat gut!

Is n't this just a new visa plan?............anyone qualifying is well stocked and good luck to those that can afford a 10 year visa.
For the many thousands now living in thailand who will not qualify hopefully the visa rules that now apply will still apply otherwise there will be an exodus plus how hurtfull this will be to many thai families reliant on their farang spouse.
It's never been a secret that the authorities want more well heeled foreigners living here but hopefully they will take into account the less well healed foreigners too.

governments the world over give farmers subsides and so should thailand.Rice farmers have it hard enough without producing crops that earn no money. If thailand wants to keep a viable rice industry then yes i think a subsidy should be put in place when prices are too low to make a profit. We as consumers are happy to have low prices in the supermarkets but not at the expense of farm producers.

Yep, and its naive to believe that there is not more going on in the background as well but people will run with it regardless. Whatever they can do to deflect from their own shortcomings (Corruption, lying, misleading, adultery...)
Edit:
But hey, what difference at this point does it make?
no difference at all....clinton,trump,obama....one of them will be in the white house come jan.I feel sorry for the electorate, such poor choices. But does it really matter.I think the US is in deep shit regardless and nothing less than a mega financial crash that can sweep the debris away to start again with proper money supply, proper interest rates to better reflect the economic activity.

anyone know about the adrenal gland and our body clock?..i've got a real problem. The time of day that my adrenal gland produces and releases cortisol is out of whack.
Basically the time when my adrenal gland shuts off releasing cortisol is 3pm and 3 am.The time when it is producing maximum cortisol is 9pm and 9 am.
So at night time my body wants to wind down i am having adrenal rushes and cant sleep until 3 am.
Maybe sheryl can help here.I need to see a specialist that knows about the role of the endocrine system, anyone got some good advice would be appreciated.

Last time we had long power shortage lasting days was in 2010.... since a new line has been put in and electric is much more stable these days.
yes it was a while ago....however if electricity is so stable why is it always off periodically, shit jimmy i lived there too..9 years in all and no matter where you live the power is always going off.

think the more remote parts of samui with rain water collection and a small solar power back unit would still be ok. quite like the idea of semi-off grid living on an island.
last time i drove around talign nam more resorts and private dwelling was going up.

well now they have somewhere to put all that trash thats been building up. i lived on samui when i first moved to thailand 10 years ago and i really liked it. i did not like chewang so much but lamai was especially good. now i am not in such a hurry to go back. have to wonder if many people collect their rainwater.
10 years ago everything was very different....less traffic, less expats living and working on Samui and infrastructure has not kept pace.
It's basically a ruined island for those of long standing..for those who have just arrived they would n't know any different.Apart from the lack of water...the refuse is the main problem.Every year, sometimes on a daily basis electricity is cut for hours, leaving no power or water.I can remember 1 year being without power for 3 days.
I am no longer living there and where i do live power and water just are n't an issue.......plenty of everything, good roads, friendly locals and a good immigration office...no more BS from Nathon office/mae nam office....everything above board.

I have just done my second 90 day report at roi et immigration..easy,no queues and good parking.Officers there friendly and helpful. They offer full service now,new visas, extensions,re entry stamps.

Cant trust the cops to just go out and enjoy themselves without flashing their toys.
Can we do a roundup for the Samui police union so we can give them their very own camp beer(police only patrons)...call it camp tea cup.

The boat sank in a matter of seconds totally engulfing the lower deck, no surprise the death toll was so high, it was also travelling far to fast. RIP to those who perished.
very fast current, boat travelling too fast, lost control, hit the concrete siding.boat probably poorly maintained and too many people on board.recipe for disaster.

It is absolutely shocking how few people in Thailand know how to swim. While I realize that the current might have been fairly strong there, I'm fairly sure that any half-way trained swimmer could manage to paddle to within grabbing distance of the river bank.
A strong swimmer, like myself, could easily have swum out to the boat and towed people back to shore. I didn't see any of the crowd on the shore trying to do that!
maybe they were trapped below deck and not easy to find a way out.

Doing business in Thailand as a foreigner is always a dangerous affair. Upset the wrong person, and you will always land up in trouble.
All you have to be is successful...that alone will land you in trouble
