  1. I see today that somebody has put blackout stickers on the annoying green lights, you know the ones i mean - the ones at the opposite side of the rail tracks that confuses all the motorcyclists, it turns green to allow right turning traffic, but some drivers approaching from east or west make the mistake of thinking it applies to them - anyway, the stickers would be a good idea but most of them have come unstuck already, so now showing fragments of green light!!! :)

  2. On the southbound side of Sukhumvit, about 3km south of underwater world, 1.5km south of Chaiyapruek crossroads, about 100m before Pattaya city boundary, about 300m north of Camp Chang elephants, Directly opposite Jurrasic gardens, about 300m north of Liveplay Laser Tag Arena, about 500m north of Golf Adventure.........., Basically a very short drive from central Pattaya on the left hand side heading south - YOU CANNOT MISS IT!! :)

Thank you for the good directions but first you have to know all these places and streets :D

why did you not just put in "latitude and longitude" so i can pin point it to the maps. :D

    OK then, just for you..12^52'04.34" N - 100^54'16.77" E :D

    (couldnt find a degree sign?)

  4. Gee, I wonder if the post is interesting.

I started to read it then noticed it was one of those REALLY annoying posts where the OP is either too lazy or too uneducated to use punctuation and capital letters.

It is because English is my third Language, and I was Raised with learning three Languages. I have a weekness in writing.

I am sorry that i am not as good as others but still i am trying to do the best.

Sorry - I'm not trying to be nasty to you. It's just hard to believe that someone could learn as much vocabulary and grammar as you have but never get a grasp of the basics like starting sentences with capital letters and ending them with full stops (or other appropriate punctuation). AFter reading your reply I glanced through your post further and it became clear that English is not your first language.

Or maybe even two capital letters?? :)

  5. personally i can not fault it been going for years, have a house on the dark side and the only thing i hate about Pattaya is having to leave it from time to time !!!!!!

Agreed...and I prefer the term "Farside" as there is nothing "dark" to living on the "other side" of Sukhumvit.

Well said MeetJohnDoe, i much prefer living on the Farside too!!, and i think there are far "darker" elements at work within central Pattaya city!

  6. It is good and well worth a look, yes touristy but most of the prices are better than beach road etc, but as others have said, EVERY weekend and holidays the place is absolutely jam packed. Parking taking up TWO lanes of Sukhumvit!!

Some dont know but there is a car park at the back, can be accessed from Sukhumvit - along the side of the resturant, or from the northbound side of the railway road.

    Enjoy! :)

  7. The weather is great in August, however; that should be your least worry, be on the alert for speeding tuk tuk/taxis, pick-pockets, ladyboys street gangs. Now think again to you really wan to hang out in Pattaya. Chaing Mai might be a bettr choice. :D

If you got hit by a TukTuk in Pattaya you must be darned unfortunate as they are a very rare species here!!?? :) This is not Bangkok! :D

  8. Sorry, I didn't get any sense from that post, I'll try again, what's the location of the ' darkside'

And do renters have problems with excessive rent increases

The Darkside or Farside is what is referred to as anything East of Sukhumvit, IMO by far the best area to live in!

  9. Most of the bank's websites have a section on repo property, also from time to time the banks produce a book with all their current listings that they offer.

Some offer by auction, some by first come first served basis, you will need to ask the individual banks and scour their websites.

Many of the property sections in their websites are in Thai only though!

  10. right next to the new high way (not finnished yet) on a street that connects Soi Siam with Soi Nongyai. It used to have a starting development but went broke I think since then been neglected. I think on the other side of the high way is Easy Park development?

If it is an abandoned development, chances are one of the banks are holding the deeds.

  11. Why single out a Thai wife for not understanding the metric system......there is a whole country postioned between the Atlantic and Pacific who doesnt understand it either.... :)

Surprised they have never adopted the metric system, knowing their like for HUGE numbers, imagine a 1 foot long hot dog... get your 304.8mm hot dog here!! :D

  12. last night on the 20th jun '2009 at around 2355 o'clock in the night.

i was driving around pattaya on the way home, when suddenly a big group of police volenteers started to drive by my bike.

so i decided to follow them. (first i realised that their bikes were slow to my bike(honda Phantom))

i did not know what is happening. so not to be suspiciouse i went to the gasoline station on sukumvit thepprasit, wilst filling up my bike i asked the personel there, they got the information from drivers that tank there. he told me " there was a pick up that had been chased down by the police and he tried to make a run from them."

now that i know that it was not only a chase on motorbikes it got more interesting.

so i followed acting like nothing happend the police that were still driving around in to numerous soi's of sukumvit untill we got to a big croweded narrow street full of people.

i have seen a lot of police one new and one old swat car. many undercover police. and the pick up truk.

as it seems like that the truk has spead with a lot of speed it to the wall of an house making two big holes in to it and that is when it came to a stop.

the swat team was standing there in full gear ( bullet proof vest, m-16, handcuffs ect ect ect....) holding a suspect on the ground. they said they wanted to stop him only for an alcohol test because he was driving like a snake on the road also adding on that he has damage numerous cars and bikes around pattaya running through the gates of a police stop.

i give thums up that they have cought the suspect, catching him in a high speed chase. and caught another wrong do'er from the streets of pattaya. if this happens more and more. they will make a good name for traffic police.

(feels like i am in holliwood )

So which was it, swat, police volunteers, undercover police or traffic police??

I think you are getting a bit over excited PTYstefan, nothing impressive there, if the pick up driver had not crashed they would still be chasing their tails yet! :)

  13. Buy the plastics,to have it painted will be more expensive.

I would have thought 1 hour of labour and a litre of paint would cost less than 4,000 baht.

I will take the plastic off myself and take it to him so he can hang it up on some wire and spray it.... just need to find someone who can do it.

If you are going to do that why not spray it yourself with some cans of spray, you know, hanging up on a tree branch at the roadside!! :)

Or buy the plastics as stated above and keep the old plastics for when you prang it! :D

  14. samuisole - if you go the company route a lot of people have and had no problems. however there are pitfals. You need to file accounts, hold meetings, etc. etc. you need to have an accountant who you can rely on to run this company. Also a company needs 7 directors and 51% ownership is Thai. it is not a perfect solution, although plently of people have done it and not suffered a problem.

If you want to be safe, buy a Condo, You can own the freehold as long as no more the 49% of the entire Condo block is foreign owned.

If you want a house on land you can buy a lease for 30 years. Anymore than that is nonsense. the 30+30+30 is not legal in thailand

If you are not happy with 30 years then just rent. Your advantage is you can walk away!!!!!

    Its 3 directors these days.

Read here re possible 60 year leasing - it has been done.
