  2. So I know how much everyone hates it when people get off topic so better to start a new one.

Is the general opinion on this board that if you have Tatoos and Spin Fire there most be something wrong with you especially if you are Thai? I have Tatoos and so do most of the people I know. Spinning Fire is fun and the Tourist love it.

Why all the negativity? Men who work in Bars all over the World are known for having many women it's part of the life style. What's the big deal?

I joined the army at the young age of 17 and it was pretty well the in thing at the time was getting tattooed never had anyone complain to me about them except my mother

As for the rest of the post I don’t understand what you are on about

  3. I refuse to hire mini vans after a incident a few years ago when I hired a driver and van to take a few of us up to Udon just as it got dark the driver slowed right down to 50km/h and still had trouble going around a few corners. It turned out the driver was half blind and then tried to charge me for the extra time it took to get there. Never again would I but my family and friends into a vehcle that I didn,t know the driver

  4. Hey wes hate to burst your bubble but I think she is probably 17 years old by the way that she posts and she seems to have a hang up with men as every post I have ever read of hers is negative. Or trying to show she has got what it takes to be a man. So we will just play along with her

I was 17 when I started the course ten years ago and I have no hang up with men otherwise I would not have been studying among them and partying with them. You certainly have a hang up with me because of what I write and how I look - you have put the two together and jumped to the conclusion that I am an unpleasant, vein, silly little girl who would never entertain the idea of sleeping with you, which may very well be the case. You only want to see the negative Rigger, because it's the easy option.

I sent her a personal message asking her to have dinner with me but she hasn't replied (yet).

You have actually sent two, and the fact I haven't replied should tell you something.

yes I did see the negative Uma as your first post about isnt it sweet and you signature along with it gave me the impresson that you where belittling our shed thread

As for I am an unpleasant, vein, silly little girl who would never entertain the idea of sleeping with you, What is that all about ???

I will say it again I have no problem with you or any other women posting here but if you dont want people to take your posts the wrong way maybe they should contain a little bit more information

  5. Howdy,

Ken Bower here. I've been coming to Thailand since 1971 and for the first 30 of my 36 trips (B4 I married), I spent most of my time in Pattaya Beach actually living there in 1971-1972 and 1995-1996 but I've liked it there a little less every trip since (prices skyrocketing, more noise, pollution, crime, and the influence of quite a different breed of farang than those that came in the 1970's, 1980's and early 1990's methinks.

Anyhow, I've always wanted to retire in Thailand and it has taken me until now to finally decide to do so here in Ban Sakinam, a small village some 12km from downtown Chiayaphum.

We live in my wife's childhood home which is as we speak being transferred from her mother's name to hers. Another sister lives on another house on the same common family plot of land and there is ample room on this plot to build another 4-6 homes. The family own rice farms some 45-60 minutes walk or a short drive from our house which is farmed by the sister/bro-in-law that lives in the other house. Another sister married a Brit from London and lives upstairs in our home along with Lat's mom. She has a baby daughter which Lat and I love more than anyone with the possible exception of my/now our 4 kids/2 grandkids/great grandson. Her husband was just here visiting for 7 weeks and I love it when he's here. He is not only "family" but a great guy and good friend.

Lat also has a sister in Sakonnakorn, and brothers in Ubon and Udon Thani. The one who lives in Udon Thani was an Army officer but resigned after just one tour of duty and has worked in the middle east and has just signed another contract to return later this month.

The family grows not only all the rice we eat but also many of the fruits/veggies. Piroon, my wife's sister and Lat usually split the Tesco Lotus or Foodland and veggie market bills for the rest of our family's subsistance.

Now, what do I do here. Well at age 69 I pretty much do the same thing I did while living in the U.S. I watch one of the 48 channels of TV I get with UBC Platinum, read and answer e-mails from friends and members of the 59 Forums I belong too, read books which I borrow from a friend who lives in Bangkok (he has thousands of books, with over 200 with Thailand titles), AND travel inside and outside Thailand.

See, when I agreed to come retire over here after my wife lived in the U.S. for 10 years, (I felt I owed it to her to finally retire here, once Chiayaphum got Tesco/Lotus, Foodland and high speed internet and UBC Platinum...lol) we agreed that we'd spend two weeks each month here in her village with her family and the other two weeks travelling as we saw fit.

We make one-two trips to Bangkok each month and one to Udon Thani and travel throughout the rest of Thailand as we see fit. Also did our Christmas shopping in Singapore and plan to return again in March, have a trip with friends/family in Phnom Penh planned/paid for in June, and will hit Vientaine in Aug/Sep.

By staying up here half of each month, our retirement budget gets a rest so we can afford to pay hotel/meal/travel expenses for our travels and by travelling every month, we never get bored with Ban Sakinam, and to tell you the truth, I look forward to getting back sometimes...

It's just the best plan ever for us. Would probably work for mamy other expats/farangs too.

I'd just like to say how much I enjoyed reading your post. Seems like you have a great life. If all goes well, I will be getting married in LOS in April and aim to relocate a wee bit youger than you did, but a good 12 months away yet. I hope to be able to enjoy things as much as you clearly are. Inclusive, not exclusive - yeah, I can go for that. Maybe the South isn't where I should be?

    Ollie

    Rigger

That's a great rule,,, and so tru as well, but it's good to have rules, so one have one more thing to do up here, brake it...

Little bit of my day as it seems that im youngest one here,,, i have been up here since -97 and currently ONLY 39yo young, So i have long way to go for retirement...

My day start's at 0600hr as all the roosters start's they morning that time as well, then coffee(nice fresh breawed coffee, not instant) then now days watch OZ open as it's start 0700,, and same time go through all last nights mails and forums, keeps me busy until 0800, when it's time to take wife to the Uni where she finishing her Farmacist licence (that is shity to get)

then to the town(Ubon) check my shop and talk crap in SK after that if there is any friend's free for a day maybe some coffee and chit chat, but have to say that most of the "guys" are working" during day time and those who are here for party not yet wake up so early.... :D

then if nothing else and no ones free, heading back to home and building my empire,,,(small at this stage)

afternoon take nap for few hrs, then it's time to heading back to the town, missus finishing her study atb 5pm and then back to shop, and get the list for new items for following day and back home, usually day is more or less done abt 7pm, then few hrs for preparing for next day and telly after that is time to hit the sack and start all over again 0600hrs.This goes around 7days a week, so sometimes not so much time to party, but one must keep beeer balance in the ok level so time to time this format is not working 100%.

In my part of the ubon, closest farang living is 20Km away so not so much activities from visitor's.

Oh yeah forgot that 6mths per year im off to my real work in the cruise ship.in US..that is story by it self's.. :o

I am 35 turning 21 next year most my mate in the area are 55+ but got a few mate just a few years older in udon and Khon kean but we still have some pretty good laughs

  6. the "genius" moqoso wrote:

Its Islam being Islam. To kill non Islamics and incidentally killing other Islamics in the name of Allah and under Jihad is honorable.

Now you're really showing how stupid you are!

Most muslims are law abiding & peaceful.

And probably have a few more brain cells than you...

    :D:o

I work in the middle east Oman close to 10 years and have found most the guys here no different than the guys back in Oz they are all busy chasing pussy getting pisst and driving fast cars and have found most of them to be non aggressive people. Except the time I sacked a heroin dealer from work who decided it would be fun to throw diesel on my bed and set it on fire. Lucky I worked back late that night and came back to a pile of ash

How ever you will never get them to side with you against another Islamic brother and they love calling the police on you for being a mean person and doing your job

  7. I don’t get board up in the north east and always find something to do. Fishing. Ride a push bike. Ride dirt bikes. Ride road bikes. Go for a drive. Play on the computer. Play with the kids. Go see what the locals are doing. Go visit friends. Watch UBC. Go out to eat. Go to the nearest city for some shopping and drop into the local bar for a few beers and a bullshit. The only rule I try and keep is no beer before 17:00 unless we have visitors, or a funeral, or a wedding, or a holiday, or its hot, or we are rained in, actually forget about the 17:00 rule as it is bullshit and just sit back and go with the flow as there is nothing you have to do today that you cant put off until tomorrow :o enjoy life

  8. Hi anyone got any good ideas about how I can remove the exhausts tips as I have ordered some baffles to try and quite down the V&H pipes a bit as they are just to loud. When I put the tips on they were a really tight fit so I hammered them on with a bit of wood but they will have to come off to fit the baffles in

I thought about getting the pipes hot and using a wet rag try and cool the exhausts tip and then try and remove them

    Any one got any ideas

  9. Sorry, maybe a strange question. I am seriously considering marriage to a handsome farang and although I would not change my mind if he did not keep a clean house, but I do want to know what to expect. For those of you who have experienced men from different cultures it would be interesting to hear your comments. I realize you have all sorts in every culture and I do not wish to be sterotypical, but I think in every culture there are some things that are consistent.

In general, do Farang men keep a clean house?

    LOVE IT !!! LOL!!!

Well let me see - i have generally found Farang men to be quite useless at keeping a clean house. However I solved the problem and found myself a rich Arab - he may be no better at cleaning the house but at least he pays for the hired help. He is much better in the bedroom too :D

Oh yes, Arabs are much better in the bedroom! Not.........................

Anyway, some people are easily pleased :D

I assume you are Thai? If so, have you really had much to compare. I have not known Thai women to be very permiscuous.

In any case I am gald you are happy :D

Ever heard of tongue in cheek humour?? I am not Thai nor am I married to an Arab (although they ain't half good in bed :o ).

I guess she likes the back door :D

  10. Uma,

C'mon you must have a tool/shed story of watching your dad skinning his knuckles on something or grappling with an unruly piece of equipment??

It may surprise you that I am a trained motor mechanic with 2 years experience. The tools were the property of the college so I didn't love them as my own!

I also got quite good at installing door speakers and repairing power windows but it wasn't something I wanted as a career, I wanted to prove a point as it is a qualification a woman in the UAA could never get.

I do actually miss my dungarees. :D

Don't listen to these boys, good on you for having a go and if you tackled power windows your alright by by me, hate that job.

But you really musn't mention clothes in a forum about tools ok? Otherwise the other boys will tease you again.:D

Nothing wrong with girls having a go but doing 2 years of a mechanic course and calling yourself a trained mechanic is pretty funny :D

And especially as she only did it to prove a point :o

If she wants to burn her bra maybe she can start a new thread

I bet you looked real hot covered in grease with your dungarees on and a spanner in your hand. You have a foto?

Honey, there's no smiley to portray what I am thinking now, I better stop right there...

    You're in Samui right? :D

  12. OR:…try explaining to them that in your country it is not the custom to be friendly to foreigners,-- especially to ones of a different skin-color and with religious beliefs different than one’s own, and explain that to even be polite to such foreigners is, in your country, to put ones manhood and sexuality in question.

If this fails you could call the Tourist Police and try getting them arrested for speaking to a white man.

Are you always such a <deleted>

  13. The Finn I would try and ignored and if he pisst me off give him a slap

I would never let a French man get that close to me

And I would buy the Aussies a beer

And good idea to aviod large groups of drunk British louts

I'm (Your) having a drink at a roadside restaurant and there are three Australians guys drinking whiskey next to you. One of them starts to say hello.

And I would buy the Aussies a beer.

Whiskey they were a drinking my friend.

If they are drinking whiskey then they are most probably not real Aussie and are probably poms making out they are Aussies in which cases you refur to the last answer

  14. ... Not that I am any type of scientist but like to think our kids got the best of both our gene pools

I'll have to hand it to you Rigger; as an Aussie you're definately an optimist :D

Well cross breeding in animals can produce the same things I mentioned so I don’t see that we would be much different

As for being a optimist I guess I am since when I was in Oz my beer was always half empty but since living in LOS my beer is always full :o

There was a study here in the States a long time ago that found that mixed race kids were significantly smarter. I have the suspicion that part of the explanation is that smarter people were more likely to marry out of their race back then. But I still do think there is something to the belief that mixed genetics are generally positive. I know I've tried to mix genes a lot, although the other gene suppliers haven't always been willing.

With statements like this, do you really wonder why Thai men don’t want farangs in Thailand?

And if you really think this is true, check out the leuk-kreung in countries like Vietnam. They’re typically poor and living in villages.

And while some leuk-kreung may do well, they probably had fathers who were stationed here for good positions in the military. My guess is that the Caucasian sex tourists living here (not all caucasians of course) probably don't offer the best genes of their race.

I have never heard a Thai bloke say he doesn’t want farangs blokes here

Being ex military my self I don’t see that being a big plus when it comes to the gene pool and most sex tourist don’t have kids in Thailand and not that I think it would make much different. And since when has being rich made you smarter than anyone else

  15. I'd like to bring a cordless drill in from Oz later.

    Any recommendations under A$130.

GMC (chinese) are heavily promoted here. (Aus quality)

    12v 14v 18v 24v?

    cheers.

    GMC

I brought a black and decker from bangkok 3 years ago and it still going strong have even lent it out to thai farmers and even they could,nt stuff it up

  16. Great stuff, ABS. Even top of the line motorcycles have them now, if you're already spending over US$11,000. And the new Honda Gold Wing 1800 is available with an airbag!

Yeah but the Gold Wing is just a car with two wheels innit :D

I've no problem with ABS when it works properly, its just here the braking force when applying them hard does feel as strong as with the cars I owned in Europe and the ABS feels like it kicks in way to early. The Mazda3 and Civic when the ABS engaged didn't feel like it was cycling several times a second more like several times a minute.

Anyway I'm getting used to it now :D still prefer the setup in my old european cars :D

My shadow has ABS because when I hit the breaks really hard it leaves a A Big Skid :o
