  1. Under 2 kilos there is no tracking on normal post, so if it has a value send EMS id say, but in general its very good, we just had box back that wasnt collected in mexico, it took a year to get back !, but its value is $500, .we were told if we didnt collect it quickly it would be auctioned off in bkk,, ,charges were a reasonable 2500 baht, ,all in all i find them good, customs coming in however are another story !,. :) ,

  2. I get the impression it is mostly the gender benders who are involved in the druggings of punters locally. This is getting to be more like Brazil or worse everyday. I have no attraction for these types but many do, and they don't deserve this. This makes me angry. Yes, catch this murderer but what can be done to stop this from happening in future?

Another question. Is it possible many of these ts people are into theft and worse because of the high cost of performing their sex change procedures and further maintenance?

To be clear, no I am not saying round up all the ts people, of course not, but if it is true they are more dangerous, shouldn't there be more WARNINGS publicized about the dangers of going with them?

Very sad indeed. But it should be made very clear that these are men dressed as women and therefore have the strength of men, maybe even more if steroids are being taken to assist in the transformation. It would be interesting to know just how many of these creatures of the night actually go the whole hog and get the nip and tuck? Spiking someone's drink, how low can you go?

    Cheers, Rick

"Very sad indeed. But it should be made very clear that these are men dressed as women and therefore have the strength of men" ,,Very true, and they are in it only for the money and are opportunists, its buyer/renter beware for sure,. :)
  3. I find reading threads like this makes me feel bad, but why is that? My relationship is awesome but somehow all this always makes me feel like an ass. Or maybe smug. But mostly an ass.

    Fauxie,

The guys that refer to shallow relationships are only stating what they themselves experience, for the vast majority of people, they will not have the same experiences.

Nobody is coming here and talking about what a wonderful life they have, cos good news doesn't have any appeal, nobody is interested, and if you do happen to be happy, they accuse you of wearing rose tinted glasses.

Simple reason being, they themselves are unhappy, and cannot understand why all other Farangs are not in the same position. :)

There's so much truth in this mate.

I've been happily married for the past 10 years with a 5 year old daughter. My wife's family are business owners. Not CP company but they do OK. My wife is a director of finance for a company. We've never had a bad word between us ever. She bought the house we live in cash. She bought her own car cash. Her folks got me an IPOD for my birthday. Salt of the earth. Normal family stuff.

I quite often run in to folks who've been stitched up or are being made mugs of by their wife/partner and they almost deny that my life's OK. "Just you wait mate. These women bide their time before making their move" "Can't trust them" etc.

Being extremely blunt but I feel like saying "If you're going to marry <deleted> then you're going to get <deleted> and if I'd have met your wife before you married I could have told you she was <deleted>"

It's almost as if I should feel guilty for having a normal marriage with a Thai woman and a loving family

Well put, its the " i had a bad fortuner, so they are all <deleted> " syndrome,.except with a bad fortuner it would be just bad luck, not because you couldnt pick a cake in a cake shop,. :D
  4. The unfortunate truth of the matter (in my extremely humble opinion) is in 99% of the situations I come across where it's "My wife to be's family want 1 million baht sinsod and a house and a new Vigo/ My wife's brother borrowed my car without permission, got loaded and crashed and I've got to pay for the damage/My wife blows 10000 baht a day playing hi-lo with her pals/My wife kicked me out of the house I bought and installed her Thai husband who I thought was her brother" if I've met the wife in question sadly the thought "Not in the least surprised" immediately comes to mind.

I've come across so many westerners married to women they wouldn't touch with a bargepole back home. I dunno.

Exactly. !, these guys couldnt select a beer in a brewery, its all about choice and selection,..walking into a bar and marrying the first one that says " hello hamsan man " is not the right way, and yes i have a friend that did just that, she has 4 kids from previous men, looks like she went ( and lost 10 rounds ) with tyson and is a milking machine,...proof that there is a chance for all these girls ! :)
  5. its an "us and them " thing,..they are out to rip foreigners off, full stop,...

    No it's not.

If a Thai guy was caught with illegal drugs, do you think he would walk away ? :D

No, of course not, but his "drink" will have been a lot less ,Il say it one more time for the hard of hearing,,,,,,its a them and us thing, and dual pricing at its best,..let me ask you, would you have paid the 15k ? ,

If it was a choice between being prosecuted under Thai Law, or paying a bribe ?

    I'd pay.

Would I have bargained with the Police Officers, yes, I'm quite sure the offending Farang paid too much, but then again, he should not have anything illegal on him in the first place.

It don't really matter what drugs he had on him, if it's illegal, it's illegal, so a price has to be paid.

He got off lightly, I would have asked him for 50,000 Baht if I were a Thai cop. :)

Oh yes, those viagras are real killers, :D ,,

  7. .Once again we have a farang breaking the law by buying illegally, a prescription drug and transporting it around the country then whining about the fact he has been saved from prison by police relieving him of money. far from it giving the Thai police a bad image it to me gives the tourists visiting the Country a bad image. Like the farang crying foul for having to pay the police money for not wearing the required crash helmet ? It would be a different story if they had planted the viagra on your friend but they didn't. Your friend has learnt a valuable lesson and needs to think himself lucky I think!
Dunc,. if that isnt tongue in cheek id be very surprised, you can buy viagra in any pharmacy and a prescription is never asked for,.so shall we all buy whilst secretly fiming the transaction and take the sellers down with us, next you will be saying you have never paid for a "bit of entertainment" ,.come on, you are beginning to sound like a pipe and slippers person, not a biker ! :D .this nicking was nothing better than extortion from a farang, period, !

By your logic then because I can by any amount of illegal drugs in most resorts then it is OK ? :D If the police catch me with a big lump of cannabis and they want money to forget aout it the police are they bad guys ? It is illegal no matter how many people do it. My gripe is that it is always the bad Thai cop! Nothing to do with the law breaking farang is it ? I'm not saying I think badly of the guy for using viagra, I'm not. My point is he broke the law, got caught and paid some money to get out of the crap. Take it like a man not a girl and don,t whinge about it. As said if the cops had planted the stuff on him then OK post about the bad Thai policemen etc. When I first came to Thailand I got very drunk and decided to ride the bike home. I got stopped speeding without a helmet, the wrong way down a one way street totally drunk. The police fined me 500 baht and let me go. I didn't whinge or whine I thanked my lucky stars I was not back home where I would have probably ended up in jail, lost my license and had my already extorinate insurance premiums triple. Now see my point ? :)

There was another posting about getting caught coming back from a visa run with viagra and the guy paid a hel_l of a lot more than this idiot.

"By your logic then because I can by any amount of illegal drugs in most resorts then it is OK ?".Ive not said or implied that, youre mssing the point, its an "us and them " thing,..they are out to rip foreigners off, full stop,...not all are as worldly as others, things like this make me scratch my head and think they really dont want tourists back, if this had happened to me on my maiden voyage to thailand it would also be my last,....... :D
  8. 15000 baht fine = scammed, how many thais have instant access to 15000 baht when they are a catching a bus ? And what happens to all these ladies in pattaya who are caught with sleeping pills trying to drug foriengers are they made to pay high fines or go to jail ? I would not think a fine of 15000 baht is the real fine for not having a prescription!!
Exactly, when they see a farang they see $$ signs, and as long as these guys keep handing over 15000 baht the word will get about and it can only get worse,. :)
  9. Rubbish, its the thai taxi drivers and security that try to sell it to you at foodland and other places,

I'm not on about weed or Yabaa, I'm on about Coke & E's, you've been offered coke or E's at foodland ?

I have had a place in Pattaya since before Foodland was built and have never been offered any drugs there or in that area, only place was walking street or beach road, and that was Ganja and that was by Thai guys.

"you've been offered coke or E's at foodland ?" No, but in walking st and other areas, only by thais. ,what is it with you and thais, are you one ?...... :)
  10. This will be good, i cant wait for captain magoo to come galloping over the hill to defend the thai cops,,,,,,,,,! :) oops, dunc beat him to it !

No need to defend the Thai cops, anyone who has been in country for a while knows the score. I would have bargained with them though.

I'll leave it up to you to defend the Farang if you want to.

There is a reason they stop Farangs at Ekamai, and they have been stopping Farangs at Ekamai for years and years, just as they have been stopping Thai people at Ekamai for years and years, and I know for a fact that they have caught people with drugs going to Pattaya/ Koh Chang / Samet etc, during those stops.

Police on the take seems to be the norm in so many developing countries, we all know that, same as we know that the generic Cialis and Viagra coming from China or India are dealt by Farangs, and guess what, the Thai cops know this also.

Whos dealing the majority of the Coke and E's in Thailand, Thai people or Foreigners ? We also know the answer to that. So do the Cops.

    :D

Rubbish, its the thai taxi drivers and security that try to sell it to you at foodland and other places, and ask anyone who frequents walking st who walks up to you and offers any narcotics, thais,...in fact i have NEVER been approaced by a farang offering me drugs,.....the sad truth is that the thais dont like competition, dont beleive me, ?. i wonder who grassed the old boy selling viagra in foodland car park a few months ago,. :D
  11. So about half an hour ago, my girlfriend and I are riding on the ring road through Lamai. Doing about 45km/h.

No one could come out to proffer anything on the ring road itself -- traffic is through all 'way 'round, so I assume you mean you were off the ring road and on the beach road through Lamai. If this is correct, you were driving far too fast. You need to stop and smell the roses.

Listen, if you encounter one or the duo of these guys, just goof with them. Seriously, this is your chance to be in your own reality series episode. Act cautiously interested at first, but pay attention. After a bit, seem really interested. Ask stupidly obvious questions and after the chum bait gets better, agree to do whatever they want (but have no intention of doing so). Oh, and act really naive, they eat that <deleted> up like honey. Comments like, "Really?" and "Wow!" will give them woodies and it will be them who's swallowing the hook, line and sinker....Remember, you can say anything as long as your wallet remains firmly against your back cheeks....

    :0

where your advice may be good for some, i would suggest it is far better to just say no and walk away. At some point playing them along is like playing with fire as there are pro's waiting in the wings, who do closing for a living and they do know how to part people from their money.

If you have the time i suggest playing along can be fun, we had a free weekend in vegas and a free tv for attending a seminar, i gave them a credit card that was maxed out for a deposit and went home unscathed, !,...... :)
  12. How about a GSXR or a ZXR ?

A Fino goes like a rocket?

I have a fino and my Vigo leaves it for dead.

And a Vigo is slow compared to CBR 600 or the like.

The Vigo will out do a slow 250 ninja on the move,,,,but in traffic,,,a Wave is faster than a Vigo.

In fact a Bus with a nutter at the wheel is faster than than a Vigo.

    Just my observation.

I think we were comparing scooters ....a ferrari will piss allo over a vigo, whats the relevance ?..... :)
  13. "Jackie Collins for male sex tourists. "

Not too sure what a "sex tourist" may be but that's a fair assessment.

This book seems to crop up in a post every 12 months or so and get roundly slated, and rightly so.

The guy can actually write to a reasonable degree judging from the novel of his - The Bombmaker - I read after someone had left it by the pool at the Golden Palace.

This book however is just cliche riddled crap. You can say its based on 'fact' as it relates to a situation which is not uncommon but I would be surprised were the protagonists of this book based on any actual real people, more made up from a composite drawn from bar room tales.

"Expat literary fiction" and in particular Thailand's "expat literary fiction" is pretty risible on the whole. I have yet to read a novel written by a so called 'expat' author which doesn't deal with sensationalist nonsense, stereotype and cliche. Don't get me started on Christopher G Moore as we'll be here all day.....

Do yourself a favour. If you want to learn about Thailand through literature, find Thai authors in translation and pass on dribble of this genre.

If you want to learn about the seamier side of life here, or even expat life in general go see for yourself and don't rely on the dross which has been written about it to set your benchmarks.

Great advice, if you want to lose a fotune dont listen to anyone, these girls are fantastic companions,..... :)

  15. Not quite a village, but I spent three months on a Thai island and built a house. Never built anything bigger than Lego before. In fact I still haven't. A clan of Thai's did. I just oversaw it and told them, or rather drew, what I wanted. I couldn't speak a word of Thai and the experience, strangely enough, was a pain. Arguments with the wife over translation. Dust and insects everywhere. Touched a live wire in the bathroom nobody told me about and slipped over four feet. Accidently ran over a dog sleeping in a crater behind the car I hired. People seemingly coming out of the jungle every time I stepped out of the house needing payment for this and that. Water rates seem to double every month. I hired a boat and took the whole clan helping me on a fishing trip. Needed a break. It was a great day. A few days later I got asked for petrol money because they had to all drive about 200 meters to the coast. Had to pay someone 20 bht for some fishing wire or something too. Boat owner said engine was damaged and asked me to pay. I didn't. It was fine when we left it. Saw women older than me carrying materials twice my weight with scarfs wrapped around their heads in a heat I could die in. Sipped Chang moderately as the whole thing got banged upright around me. Bought about 5 fans from the mainland as each one broke one after the other. I had never seen a bee/wasp/hornet active after dark before. Our baby stopped crying at night after showing her the geckos. Clan kids ran in and out of the house leaving dirt on the tiles.

The house got built and has been let nearly every month since. Over 100 sq feet with 2 bedrooms and huge terrace. This was several years ago and it's still doing fine. I lived it for about 2 weeks once it was finished and got bored and we left. I'd already been there about 12 weeks and it felt like I'd been everywhere of interest on the island already. The gang I had somehow inherited within 24 hours of meeting a "foreman" were poor but respectful to me. Never had one argument with them. Even if the original cost of building the place magnified weekly. They did a good job. One thing I did was made sure I bought all the materials. Best cement. I couldn't help with the construction because when I did I got in the way as they seemed to need to bow before me. Now I know I'd probably have needed a work permit anyway. Read "War And Peace". Thrice. I don't normally read books but glad I took it with me. No TV. No i-pod. Plenty of stars and jungle noises. Eagles soared in the mountains. Saw wiry nearly-toothless island folk 40-something's balancing large doors on rickety scaffolds not jumping into the entrances without slipping their sandals off first. Drank beer at sunset with the clan on vantage points I'd never know. Got woken with food cooked from recently-shot jungle creatures that were probably endangered species for all I knew. Perhaps they were the eagles. Got given baskets of fish in exchange of a couple of Chang when we visited other islands on canoes. Ate the meanest laab. Got to know the local chief. Got drunk with the head of police. Met some cool expats. Met some not so cool. Sold latex the clan I had hired had collected from the trees my wife now owned. Split it 50/50. With the clan, not the wife :)

This wasn't some real backwater, it was a relatively popular island with a tourist trade, but I knew I couldn't ever live there - which was my blissfully ignorant plan when the wife bought the land. We both thought it might be a good idea at the time. Typical Thai eh? Typical falang too. A local expat called it a "green hel_l" in between the 20 cans of beer he seemed to polish off before breakfast. More like "God's waiting room" I thought as I did the same.

The point of this post? Well, I'm more than sure others have similar and certainly far more extreme experiences than the above, but I knew island life was not tolerable for me so I'm sure the way the OP lives would send me insane. Of course this is no criticism simply an answer to a post. Yet it was an important experience for me and I'd like to think being forewarned will be forearmed for me when we finally move out to Thailand in the not too distant future. But it'll be up north and in a city for us though. I'm a city boy who can appreciate the countryside but, for now at least, couldn't live in an English village let alone a Thai one.

    Oo-arr :D

As soundman said, great post, :D ,could have been me, except i cant write that well,. :D not for me, but to each his own,.
