  1. but even then, what assurance does the Immigration Officer at Suan Plu have that he will go straight to the Airport and leave Thailand?

Why would anyone pay 20,000baht, plus x amount for the plane ticket, if they plan on continuing to be on overstay?

I'm sure I've heard or read somewhere that you can pay at an immigration office, although I would say that it would be better at the airport as I've read of people doing it before. But first, he would have to check-in for his flight where perhaps the staff will check for a valid stamp/visa. He would have to make sure that if they do check, to be sure to inform them he'll be paying the overstay fee, just in case they call immigration without him knowing.

  2. well, i'll come clean the... my main problem is buying ladies undergarments that fit me.. you see i need a size 15(UK) & they only do small sizes here.. i guess cos most girls here have small bums... can anyone bring some back for me when they next go the london?  :D

Good for you for coming out of the closet!.........Now get back in! :D

If you're serious, have you actually tried a tailor shop? I vaguely remember somebody a few years back who had leather bondage stuff made for his wife/gf at one of those Sukhumvit tailor shops.

    Just a thought. :o

  3. ...it sometimes makes me wonder about aliens and gods and things when things like 1 liter of water weighs exactly one kilo.

Yeah, me too, and when you've lost something, I'm amazed that you always find it in the very last place you look.

Yeah, and how come whenever you phone a wrong number...it's never engaged.

  4. As Ned said, Khorat. Perhaps via Nakhon Nayok on the R305 then through Khao Yai NP.

Once through Khao Yai take a little paved road that runs along the park's northern perimeter that'll take you through some small villages and nice scenery. It will eventually bring out onto the R304 that has recently been widened and improved. From here up to Chokchai and then Khorat. A much nicer route than the R2 in my opinion but will take a full day from BKK to Khorat.

For a day trip that can have you back in Bangkok before the evening rush hour, there's a little known tourist place, a temple named Wat Pai Rong Wua on the Suphanburi-Kanchanaburi border. It has a massive sitting Buddha statue and has row upon row of smaller colourful ones behind it.

100 yards away also in the temple grounds is a garden with statues depicting Thais version of heII's atrocities. It's very gruesome so if your visitors are squeemish then miss out this part.

From the temple you can get to Suphanburi town very quickly.

  5. I was there about two months ago and it's still wasn't an official international border crossing. Locals can obviously pass but tourists have to submit their passport to the Thai immigration office in town and will be given a receipt. You show the receipt at the border about 20 kms away at the 3PP and pay a fee.

I enquired about this to the Austrian owner of the Burmese Inn in town and he's always enquiring and being told 'next month, next month, next month.....'.

Perhaps one day it will be open. I hope so

  7. I'm living in a muubaan on the outskirts of bkk and I separate the rubbish. Food scraps, empty packets, paper etc. go into the main bin. Beercans, bottles, boxes, etc goes into plastic shopping bags and given to a guy who goes around the village everyday sifting through everyones garbage. It saves him having to sift through rubbish and makes his life a little easier.

  8. Isn't there usually a little bakery somewhere in a shopping mall? You know the places that do cakes, pies, buns, rolls etc. I would love to get a loaf hot out of the oven. Like sticky rice, it's lovely when it's hot. (imagine a smilie here with mouth watering)

  9. How much roughly are we talking about if I was to fly the cheapest airline to Malaysia? I'm 5 mins from Don Muang airport so no expense or time used getting there. How much does all the departure taxes add up to?

Carl, years ago I used to fly to Hat Yai on Thai Airways. From the airport a minibus to Hat Yai market. From there a bus (17baht and 45 mins) to Pedang Besar. Get my stamps. Back to Hat Yai to kill a few hours before getting a free limo from the Thai office to the airport.

Depending on any time and money constraints, this may provide an option for you.
