  1. adding layers of CF and kevlar to the original would only make it stronger...adding a further layer of honeycomb would increase impact dispersion even further.

tell you what, i'll ride with my helmet and you keep your ABS plastic helmets...when you lose it and smash the concrete head first remember me when your in the ambulance.

it appears Arai already makes them, as well as a few others, i bet your wondering why you didn't search on the net before opening your holes

  2. First before you open your restaurant run do not walk to the nearest Psychiatrist

and give him all of you money. Then go sit under the bridge and relax and have positive thought about how lucky you are NOT to have opened a restaurant. I'm a highly experienced Chef and once had the crazy idea to own my own restaurant. I shelled out big bucks and started one. Little did I know that I had just forfeited all of my time to the "" Bottom less Pit" never knowing if I would have enough money to pay the help, light and gas, salaries, social fund payments, cost of food, and a million other things no body ever tells you about. Go out and talk to some restaurant owners and get there feed back.

Being the owner and Chef of your own ""Joint "" is a real downer. What you will find just because you are a master of your food does not mean you will be successful. Running a restaurant is much more then good cooking. Good chefs make lousy managers in most all cases. Read Tony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential. He tells it exactly how it is. 4 out of every 5 restaurants fail with in three years. It really is a terrible way to own a business, Run to that Psychiatrist now!

a mexican taqueria, isnt your typical restaraunt, everythings pre-prepared just scoop, roll, cut and serve.

nothing like a typical restaurant where each dish must be prepared specifically.

most restaraunts fail because the owners are too lazy to do the work themselves.

to the OP, make sure you have 6 months worth of emergency funds, the 6 months are the hardest.

oh and - nachos using velveeta cheese please, and make your own sour cream, most places here buy it and spend about 10 times what they should, hence very little sour cream at almost all mexican places.

  3. you will love this route, coming from victory monument.

take rama 9 towards the airport, and go down to the access road parrallel to the motorway, after going over the bridge that crosses srinakarin...you will be parrallel with the outer ring raod.

take it all the way down till you get to the traffic light, which will be the ramkhamhaeng intersection. then go right.

go till the last 3 way intersection where you will be forced to go left or right - go right

then take your first left at the stoplight.

follow this road, it is a tree lined road in Nong chok...go till the end then go left, this will take you to chachoengsao, and on through to rangsit....the whole ride is pretty much in the countryside with green grass, trees and nice breezes. If you go at noon and the sun is shining, its beautiful.

you can also take this route to nakhon nayok/ongkarak/prachinburi.

  4. get a copy of the thai power of attorney document (this alows title transfer without her prescence) as well as a title transfer document, get her to sign both and get a copy of her ID card and house registration...both also signed....make sure the book is signed also.

problem solved, i wouldnt worry too much about her reporting it stolen..she would have to be an a extrememly cunniving person to do that.

  5. approx 2 sizes up, and adjust the air/fuel screw so the idle returns quickly and doesnt 'float' when revving at a standstill when coming back down to idle.

the sound of the bike should not be to high pitched when revving to 8-9k(lean)...it should have a distinctive 'round' sound when revving.

if it drops back down to idle speed to quickly, it's probaby too rich.

the original pipe has a honeycomb catalytic convertor inside about 7" away from the tail end, with a new pipe the bikes rpms will climb faster in the 9-12k rpm region. At highspeeds your bikes rpm's will also be higher, because your losing back pressure.

if the bike is older than 5 years, change the fuel valve under the gas tank...they can malfunction and will make your bike run lean and a bit hotter....350 baht.

usually the pipes without the argon welded sections (goldbands around the joints) don't have to be rejetted as high, because they use a smaller diameter pipe.

if the k&n is a cone filter install a longer pipe which connects the filter to the carburetor, if that pipe is too short, you will lose topend pull...but gain on lowend....at highspeeds when you let off the throttle, the bike will drop speeds quicker when coasting, with a short air intake pipe...and driveability wont be as comfortable...louder doesnt mean faster.

phobic had his filter installed inside the original airbox, so that pretty much keeps the orignal resonant cycle of the air intake, and keeps the sound down at the same time.

  6. to find the values of the new shims , you follow this formula...not too hard, but most street side mechanics won't know how to do it.

To figure the thickness of the new shims follow the formula below:

    A=(B-C)+D

A - The thickness of the new shim

B – Measured clearance between cam and tappet

C – Factory specified clearancebetween cam and tappet

D – Measured thickness of old shim

the shim is under the tappet (i think its called a tappet, anyway its the silver thumbsize piece that makes direct contact with the cam lobe)

Factory specified clearances between cam lobe and tappets:

    Intake 0.16mm +/- 0.03mm

    Exhaust 0.25mm +/- 0.03mm

    Factory specified tolerences:

If you get a measurement of greater than 0.19mm and 0.28mm there is too much clearance.

If you get a measurement of less than 0.13mm and 0.22mm there is too little clearance.

Not sure about new valves, you may have seating problems since the valve seat on the head will not be new....but a valve job lines up the seating, basicly you apply abrasive valve cream to the valve and seat.

Then take this thing that looks like a pencil with a suction cup on the end, attach the suction cup end to the valve and make a back and forth motion with your hands, spinning the valve.

My old instructor back in high school said in a bind you can use toothpaste. :) then you wont have to worry about your valves developing cavities.
