  1. The change over from HSBC Premier to Krungsri, Bank of Ayuthaya was a very smooth process, term deposits moved over without any issues (better interest rates too), Platinum Visa cards swapped over 100% without issue, ATM cards a huge bonus, Krungsri have more branches and online banking, so banking is just got so much easier than before with HSBC Thailand. The only down side is no more free transfers from other offshore HSBC Premier accounts to Thailand, but a small price to pay.

  2. Or any proper XBMC setup will do all the UK TV and many other countries besides, like Australia / Canada / most EU countries / NZ / Scandinavia / USA etc .. XMBC from http://xbmc.org/ is free to dload and use and the plugins are also free so no monthly fees.

Hi Jon. Installed XBMC, seems to work quite well, is there a BBC/ITV/C4 plug-in that works without a VPN / Proxy and has an adjustable (or bigger) buffer? We suffer from a reasonably fast but rather intermittent connection which breaks all the direct streaming applications. Best is still UK-TV with its 15 minute buffer (not free).

The newest Fredo XMBC 12.1 works very well here on both a 16mbs and 50mbs true internet lines and reliable enough to watch all night. The issue as you rightly say is installing / setting up the correct plugins and tweaks to use, as there are so many and for me the majority do not work continuously but there are a handful that do just work and work like the 'everyready battery'.

For me XBMC is the best solution as it is all free and compared to the cost of IPTV set top boxes it wins hands down.

So I did the exercise yesterday - went and brought a new PC (a very cheap and cheerful Acer Aspire XC100) with HDMI out - installed Ubuntu 12.10 on it (45 minutes to unpack set up and install 12.10 and upgrade 12.10) and then installed XMBC 12.1 and set up all the newer plugins I required (1 hour more or less) - so the conclusion for me was for under THB 9,000 I have a full media center with all the TV, radio. movies, weather etc that I require, NZ are 186/1 in their 1st inninngs against England on Sky Sport HD as I type this.

  3. i cancelled mine years ago ,i now use thai expat tv ,i cant fault it

All good, but isn't that the same as UKTV which is cheaper at 490THB and both UKTV and expat.tv don't show live EPL?

All good, but no where as good as a proper XBMC set up which is free / no monthly fees and free software as well of course (used by many on ThaiVisia) and has all the soccer and sport.

  4. Dynamic dns to the router and they can fix network issues. Teamviewer or logmein can connect to remote unattended thin clients. Sounds like you need more knowledgable IT support more than a static ip. This is absolutely beginners stuff for anyone considering offering remote support that they seem to be completely unaware of.

    We said ...

  5. My IT guy advised

Application like Team Viewer and Logmein only allow you to get access to a particular system however they do network on thin clients and it will not give is access to the router should we need to log in.

Maybe your IT guy should take a bit more time and learn how to use apps like teamviewer and after he does that, he can give you a correct answer.

  7. A simple solution might be to

    1) install the brother CD/Apps on your PC

    2) share the printer functions to the network like before from your computer

    3) disable the original share on the original PC

    Enjoy..

I am not talking about sharing the printer function. The problem is downloading the faxes from it.

Ok that is all I did with my old MFC-7340 from its' PC software and it works well
