it is live on Astro ABO as I type this.
-
While Setanta is indeed on the same satellite (Measat 3) as Astro it is not on the same transmission band as Astro (Ku band), it is lower in frequency on what they call the C Band. So yes any free to air set top box that has a HD tuner (DVB-S2) can still see it for free.
-
There is a NBA HD satellite channel on the Measat 3 C Band Satellite over our heads here in Thailand that started back in DEC10, but after a long time of being free to view, it recently went encrypted.
-
As mentioned above Setanta is on satellite and free to view for the last month and huge signals on a small 6' dish on the C Band here in BKK - in fact all over Thailand. This is where Astro get there feeds from.
-
Many Steve, depending on where in the country you are i.e. Intelsat 7/10, Thaicom 5, Insat 4a, Measat 3, Insat 3c, NSS6,Asiasat 5, NSS11, Palapa D, Koreasat 5, Asiasat 4, all the JCSats and raw backhaul/feeds in HD on Intelsat 8 and Intelsat 5 from time to time.
-
Seems to work well
This satellite has channels on the C band (is not effected by the rain) Home of our Australia Network Package (from 3500mhz to 4300mhz only) NBA, CBS, NFL backhauls in HD, ESPN radio, CNN Studio feeds / backhauls - includes SD and HD TV Channels

A great tool, but not for this so much but for the other items it also has as mentioned above.

Superbowl 45 is/was free to view in Full HD on Sky Indo - huge signals here in Bangkok. Watching it now on ASN HD and it is free (but this will not last long as it has been free for the last month)
-
Setanta is free to view via satellite in HD for the last 3 weeks ..
-
ABC Radio Coverage on the internet www.abc.net.au/northqld/?ref=portal_m10
all country blocks have been removed .. so even works here in Thailand for once;
or via a special shortwave radio frequency via Radio Australia. The
transmitter being used is a brand new 100KW Continental which is DRM
capable.
a.. 2100-0830 UTC on 9710 kHz 353deg
b.. 0830-2100 UTC on 6080 kHz 005deg

google a Linksys/Cisco RC042 for a 2 port asdl version - works very well and cheap and can be brought at most computers centers across Thailand. Dlink also have versions but found then unreliable after a month, so ditched them for the RV042 which we have been running for years now.

Matt and his team have just put a live stream demo off their TV station CH 7 in windows media player format, with a screen size of 320 x 240 (kztc-lp) at their broadcast site in San Diego ( http://sandiego7.com/ ) and he would like to know who can watch it and how well you can watch it. I have been watching it here in Bangkok for the last 12 hours (running fine on both windows and ubuntu) and no failures on a true adsl line and going well, but he would like to know how others are getting this stream over here.
Happy viewing

It is free to view on the Asiasat 5 satellite - 3737 V Sr 6111 "Australian Open Tennis"
-
BTW all this is free to view (as per the OP request - bar no Thai language) on the new Sky HD network on Palapa D @ 113e at the moment including syfy my favorite channel. Full details here - http://www.lyngsat.com/palapad.html - but I stress you need a DVB-S2 tuner in your set top box or PC to get it.
