It was rather a false welcome though......... I stopped going to the QV a couple of years back after a some "lousy service" experiences (not becuase of any gay issue); otherwise the place wasn't too bad. But it sure did attract some punters who you wouldn't have described as gay friendly

Should stress this was under the previous management, before someone turns this into a QV versus whoever thread

When I stayed there in February there were a couple of obviously gay staff... which made me think it must be 'gay friendly'. It was really quiet, I only saw a couple of people in there.

I never really converted as such, I just always thought asian people looked 'cool' because they look different to me I guess and watching Tartan Asia Extreme films. I never knew any asians when I was growing up, never really thought about it.

By frustrating I mean like for example trying to get someone to understand something that makes sense to yourself but the other person just can not see what you mean... I would describe that feeling as being frustrated that they can't understand.

Or for example being frustrated because you want to do something but you can't because of various obstacles.

I used Diorshow Waterproof when I was over there (back in England now ) and it extended my lashes almost too much, looked a bit fake! No smudging or smearing either, but it is a bit pricey.

I went to A Taste From Heaven ($$) today, which is on Thapae Road opposite Krung Thai bank I think. We ordered 3 dishes - chili basil stir fry, prik khing & som tam - all were really delicious and if I hadn't been so full I would have eaten more... the staff were super friendly and the place is really clean and relaxing. They have a website with photos of all the dishes & prices - taste4heaven.com

Why should backpackers spend a lot of money? A lot of people that go backpacking want to do it for cheap, either because they think it's a better experience or because they don't actually have a lot of money to spend. I don't get why some people have such a problem with them, if you're hanging about places where you spend a lot you probably ain't going to be in contact with them much anyway.
