  1. Pity the poor sod (me) who's flying that route in December on OS. My only solace is in the fact that I managed to snag a pretty low fare for a return from London.
  2. Not so sure about that, although I think it is ignored/overlooked frequently. From the application form; Uncancelled can include expired passports if they have not been formally cancelled (corners cut, stamped cancelled, etc) by the issuing authority.
  3. Market forces. People in the UK are completely broke, guacamole is a very rare treat for most.
  4. Grateful to them pointing out what a pestle is for.
  5. There is no inheritance tax to pay on anything left to a spouse, unless different rules apply to a foreign spouse, albeit one married in the UK.
  6. Fortunately not, although perhaps there is a place in the chip for that. The old one neither, although it does contain an entry stamp for our honeymoon in Jamaica, distant memories now, both the trip and her.
  7. Well here's my 2021 passport alongside my 1981 version. The colour is certainly blue and both are the same. The new one looks darker more so due to the grain of the cover than anything else I think, and ageing of course.
  8. Have you already done one of these trips? I seem to have been reading lists of towns for some time and am hoping soon to start seeing reports of what you have discovered. Or are you in a perpetual state of preparation?
  9. I'd start here, appears to me that she ought to qualify for a family visa but ought to point you in the right direction in any event; https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/partner-spouse
  10. Is she the one with the pork balls?
  11. Check out the Victory Monument in Bangkok.
  12. Only the French, does that count?
  13. Once Wise has your money then the time for the transfer to THB is the same. I have read of people having issues with their UK bank stalling payments to Wise for some reason or other which caused delays, Every payment I ever made to my Wise account has been received within seconds, it goes as a "faster payment" from my UK bank. Onward payments have normally arrived in seconds, in my case always within minutes. I have never used the mentioned notation which it is often said causes some delay. The payment time also seems to depend on the receiving bank, seems SCB, Kasikorn or Bangkok are the best and they also can receive larger payments (over 50kTHB I think).
  14. I just looked at my account. To send GBP10,000 to THB from an external bank account will cost GBP52.52. To send it from a Wise GBP balance will cost £52.44. So basically the same.
  15. Or you could go to this page and see for yourself.....https://wise.com/gb/pricing/
  16. Except that isn't where it happened. it was right in the middle of Sukhumvit by the photo's.
  17. Quite so. Or perhaps a hatchback. Certainly not a saloon (sedan).
  18. It is easy but not sure what you used as every method I know, including my UK bank account, comes back with Wise Payments Ltd, which is just as well as its the sort code I send to.
  19. They have both farcebook and Twitter account links on their homepage.
  20. A very small amount of searching suggests it only works at an international airport. Also bear in mind the purchases have to be made at participating stores. I'd put money on NO being the answer.
  21. I used to fly Thai whenever possible as it suited the destinations I went to and I lived in the hope that the accrued mileage would be useful at some point. After some years though I became so mind-numbed by the food choices...."chicken or fish"....that I started taking homemade sandwiches on long flights which improved the experience no end. The one aspect of the meal service I did like was the cognac man who passed through the cabin (and I'm talking economy here) with a bottle and glasses after the coffee service. I noticed though over the years that his speed was increasing each flight to such an extent that he was virtually running along the aisle calling out "cognac!" and almost needed tripping up in order to get one. He's probably long gone now with all the cutbacks and I doubt I'll ever fly them again. For a one off though ought to be just bearable, chicken one way, fish on the way back.
  22. ....next stop, Specsavers.
  23. Looks like a place your 18YO self might stay, not so sure about a grown up. At least you can co-work with the "urban community".
  24. Yes, they have red and sometimes blue at BKK and the red is the "regular", the blue is the "light" version afaik,.
