I have read previously (somewhere on GOV.UK) that it is definitely cancelled in the HMPO system as soon as the application is received in the UK, which makes sense as 99% of applications have the expiring passport attached to them. However, as their database is not shared automatically with anybody only they know this and therefore the only place where it ought to be flagged up in on arrival in the UK. Based on what has been written here I would think yes, but with ever reducing level of enforcement. It would of course not be hard to take a test before going, if you wanted to be on the safe side.

In the example I looked at it was equal "UNIONPAY" and "WECHAT PAY/ALIPAY" with "QR CODE" a close runner up.

They give 6 different payment options and the price changes depending on which you choose, the individual charge is identified in each case. Hardly "zero information".

Yes. it does And also the monthly free withdrawal limit is very low, GBP200 for instance. After GBP200 it's GBP0.50 per withdrawal and 1.75% on anything over GBP200. And if you don't hold a THB balance there will also be a conversion fee.

You could get a single non-O in the UK which would give you 90 days. You would need to show either a pension or GBP10k in the bank.

I read a tale about somebody recently (since 1 April) arriving in Chiang Mai and getting a 30 day visa exempt entry. They then are travelling around Thailand for some time and expect to be back in Chiang Mai 35 days or so after arriving and are hoping that this eventual overstay will not prevent them getting an extension. Or maybe not, who knows.
