How the hell can he not see the guy? Did the guy put on a helmet? Did he pay him?

Have his armbands been overlooked on this thread? Since the passing of the 80's fashion craze approximately 0 people in 100000 (estimate) wear sweatbands on the middle of their arms, with the exception maybe of nut jobs concealing self harm marks or organised criminals concealing tats from cameras and witnesses.
Good points but maybe these arm bands are beneficial in some labor jobs for carrying objects with outstretched arms? They may also be concealing tattoos or identifying markings.

My guess it is the work of Thaksin supporters but I suspect they got the recipe wrong and it was more powerful than anticipated thus the second bomb was thrown in the river. Regardless it is a terrible thing to do. I also believe they very well may have used a foreign operative or tried to disguise the man as a "muslim terrorist". The resulting damage to the economy and tourism is the goal. If the economy weakens there is room for revolt and the return of the Thaksin supporters. The Chinese have been coming in droves helping save the economy and this is not what Thaksin had hoped for after being stripped of his rank.
Just can't help yourself from looking through those anti-Thaksin, anti-Red shirt glasses, can you?
Oh, and for the record, Thaksin HAS NOT been stripped of his rank yet. That is still pending. Just thought you might want to know that.
It's all theory at this point. No anti Thaksin element. Just based on possible motivating factors. If you have a better theory present it.

I think the Thais are a step above the Laos and Cambodians. It shows in their cities.
Not true. The Cambodian and Laotians are victims of their past. The American War greatly enriched Thailand and set them on a course for strategic development. However, now their neighbors are outpacing them in growth, education and eventually infrastructure.

Some here have claimed that Israel is a democracy in which homosexuals live safely amongst a moderate society. :-?
Not a word of that description of Israel is accurate.
It is a LOT more accurate than any of the Muslim countries surrounding it, but any excuse to hate.
Don't twist things UG. Let's not drag Muslims into this too. He is merely making a point that Israel is not all it seems. Anyone watching the news can see there is a lot of prejudice against blacks in Israel. Now this incident with gays. They need to clean up their act.

This is why Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam will blaze by Thailand very soon. They can get things done. I feel bad for the vendors but once the policy is in place all will benefit from increased tourism. Anyone know if they are enforcing stricter garbage/littering rules? I have heard Vietnamese beaches are very clean?

I would expect to see the driver with smartphone in hand

The more they hammer Trump the more he wins. They are creating distance between themselves and Trump to his advantage. The voters are figuring out the mainstream candidates are pathetic.

What could be more clear and explicit than saying I do not want to leave any money to my daughter. UK law has become a laughing stock.
No sadly it is the people who put up with allowing the state to overrule them.

I would offer them 1 month security deposit if they want more go elsewhere. Vote with your feet. Plenty of rentals out there.

This will likely get blocked as Israel does not want this deal just like they don't want a Palestinian peace agreement. The dog and pony show continues.

One can make an argument that by not speaking out about the atrocities their army was committing the German people shared some of the guilt. Same is happening in the Arab world right now. Few are brave enough to speak out, especially ones in positions of authority. The King of Jordan is one of the few exceptions and is a heroic man. Few were heroic dissenters during Hitler's atrocities. So, does my heart bleed for those civilians? A little, maybe.
NOT the German Army (Wehrmacht) was to blame here, Auschwitz was purely SS-business and kept under a close lid as even they feared a public backlash. Your chap Oscar Gröning was reminded of his oath to the SS to keep his mouth shut when he was transferred to Auschwitz from his pen-pushing job.
The Wehrmacht certainly had their share in war atrocities, but mostly the kind of "things that happen during war" and not in any organized fashion.
You did not speak up against the Nazis, you followed orders. There were totally ruthless in killing dissenters, they were hanging 15-y-o from street lanterns for not wanting to join totally useless Volkssturm last-ditch suicide missions. All the individual courage got them a place on contemporary exhibitions in German city-halls with their picture and details as to how they got condemned and executed right up until mid-1945.
"Individual courage" does not need to be "recognized" to still be individual courage. Heroes are not always recognized as such, particularly in their own time, or even ever, but that does make them anything less than heroes. Heroism is not a matter of "what it gets you".
I can understand someone who served in the German (or Japanese) Army, as long as they weren't personally involved in any atrocities, claiming that they were forced to serve. I draw the line at allowing them to claim anything "honorable" about that service however. They fought for a brutal, inhuman, rapacious dictator and regime and have no right to claim anything honorable about it, unless it was an effort to overthrow it. I also draw the line at obedience to orders to commit atrocities. That's simply criminal. Not as criminal as authorship or actual willing support for those atrocities, but still criminal to have committed them, even under orders. It may seem like a harsh standard, but humanity DOES carry with certain inherent responsibilities, just as it carries with it certain inalienable rights. And human beings have a duty to refuse to participate in an atrocity, even at the cost of one's own life.
Nuclear bombs were dropped on Japan. Hundreds of thousands of women and children were slaughtered when allied forces intentionally torched citizens at Dresden. Laos and Vietnam were carpet bombed. How about rounding up these guys as well. Weren't they just following orders?

I would go to Vientienne this time. You should be okay for two or three there. A new passport will help but is not foolproof as you are in the computer if they dig deeper.

Always have to chuckle at how the Republicans and Democrats go after one another with such animosity. When are people going to figure out these politicians are working together pretending to be at odds. In the past, Clinton and Bush would spew campaign rhetoric against one another? Now Bush and Clinton are best buddies.

Quit watching the brain washing western media portraying Muslims as jihadist bombers. 99.99 percent are good people. I have worked with many and they have been professional, loyal, friendly and capable people.

No question Obama has been a disappointing leader in many regards (not unlike his predecessors) however he is showing some spine on this issue. This agreement is far better than the alternative.

Cutting funding to our closest ally in the Middle East would be a lot more ridiculous.
Most of the money that the USA gives Israel has been used to purchase goods and services from America, so that American aid money is recycled back into the American economy. Nearly 90% of US aid to Israel is military, and Israel spends about 75% of that purchasing U.S. goods. This aid is really an American subsidy to U.S. arms manufacturers.
Israel is a strong military ally. The security cooperation between Israel and the United States is huge, and Israel has consistently been a major security asset to the United States, an asset upon which America can rely, far more than other recipients of American funds.
Israel is the world's leading expert in collecting intelligence on terrorist groups and in counter-terrorism. It provides military intelligence and know-how to the U.S. worth far more than what we give them in Aid.
On top of intelligence, if there were no Israel, the US would have to deploy aircraft carriers to the area, along with tens of thousands of US soldiers, which would cost tens of billions of dollars annually. Gen. Alexander Haig called Israel "the largest US aircraft carrier, which does not require even one US soldier, cannot be sunk, is the most cost-effective and battle-tested, located in a region which is critical to vital US interests."
There is absolutely no current strategic benefit to the U.S. allying so closely with Israel in the middle east. In fact it creates more problems then solutions. Pull out of the region altogether would make more sense. Plenty of oil to go around. You talk about terrorism but don't you think if Islamic based terrorism exists it may have a lot to do with the U.S. so closely supporting Israel? But on the other hand don't you find it a bit odd ISIS is more interested in attacking the U.S. then its supposed sworn enemy Israel? If you do a bit of research you will find that Saudi Arabia and Israel have been involved in aiding and abetting ISIS. Quite the strategy.... create the problem so you can offer a solution that works in your favor? As Rahm Emmanuel said "never waste a crisis".
Alexander Haig also said about Vietnam "if I had my way I would pave the place". Why reference such an ignorant and evil person?

Time to cut U.S. funding to Israel (currently around 4 billion per year). Ridiculous.

I use the car wash on Theprasit 17 and they will put air in your tires if asked.
They like to giggle and point at the farang and his silly tire pressure gauge.
Let them giggle unless they are using a guage because thais generally overfill at 40-60 pounds for tubed tires and this is dangerous. 30-35 lbs more like it.

One must keep in mind that most visitor stats often include crossings from adjacent countries even if for a day. Another thing is that Vietnam and China are experiencing tepid relations and Vietnam is not getting near the Chinese visitors as Laos and Cambodia. Apparently China is going to resettle one million Chinese in northern Laos.

Well I guess they won't be able to criticize them for "lack of maintenance" on this bridge.

Natural treasure??? krabi...?
They should build a very big power plant as fast as posseble. This is much better for Krabi's invoirment.
Locals can have a decent job and education, tourism will be gone, so no more crap on the beaches, and marine life will be lef alone. After that Krabi can be upgraded, clean the whole province, get rid of criminals, wow .. Would be a great industrial province.
Naaah forget it, shall be as crappy as it is used to be. Lets thai- modify it.
No doubt tourism is putting pressure on the environment. But you believe it is only tourists creating the garbage? Thais don't throw garbage?

AIPAC owns Hillary. How can anyone support apartheid in today's world? Another reason she is not a leader.
