Guess where the hippie-farangs will hang around in the near-coming future...
Do you criticize a Thai politician who kept his election promise?
Nobody ever died of a cannabis overdose
I am not a hippie-farang and I am 75 and I will be happy to get access to medical cannabis if I would get a terminal cancer / I do not want to smoke it but to have it available in liquid form.
I repeat once more on this forum the CNN report by neurosurgeon Dr Sanjay Gupta

Please keep us updated. We had to face a great mess of 10 years malpractice by previous Committees and Manager Juristic Person....and we cleaned it up.
TV member Kittenkong who replied above #2 provided us excellent advice based on his experience.

Do not destroy the beautiful concrete structures ...within a few thousand years the successors of the human race will - like with Stonehenge - come and worship the "previous civilisation" who built it ...and it will be a great source of tourist revenue for Thailand.

The deal reached by PM May after 2 years is not between 2 partners ...it had to be approved by all member states ...it is between 1 partner (UK) and 27 others represented by the EU Commission speaking on behalf of their internal compromise(s)...who can change that in two months?
Also the UK is the demanding side and not the EU...but they want to have their cake and eat it.

About last line written by drbeach #43 QUOTE Thailand, for all it's faults is still way better than Cambodia UNQUOTE / I live in Thailand since 1987 and I have written in this Forum several times that Thailand is not perfect but that for long staying foreigners - able to adapt - it is still the best place to live compared to neighbouring countries.

I have Non Imm O visa and 2 years ago applied for the first time for a Thai DL and I got one after passing the tests at the HQ of the Transport Ministry in my province. Recently this 2 year DL was renewed with a 6 year DL but again after passing tests. (What I read in this Forum creates the impression one can get a DL without passing tests???)

Why would you want a Thai drivers license on a tourist visa? You should have a International Drivers License issued from your home country to drive with.
Yes indeed

...and no sanctions on Putin who is much more dangerous for the US ....because - as we have seen on several TV appearances - he dominates Trump.

I'm from the UK and the bottom line is that the "financial market's" have woken up to the fact that "Boris The Bear" will NOT bow down to the "Euro" and "Brussels". He is the "Best" PM the UK have seen in 10 decade's! Rest assured he will deliver on Brexit and put the word "Great" back in front of "Britain" again and the "Currencies Market's" will be bewildered and shocked as they see the real and the true strength of the "British Pounds" and the mite of the small island soon to known again as "Great Britten"!????

Ireland...interesting to see if they'll finally unify because of this stupidity. Boris, Nigel, et al, <deleted> scum. As bad as the EU is/might be, it's better than what those clowns have in store, which they're making up as they go. They have no plan whatsoever beyond kicking their heels and screaming out, out, out.
We will remember the words of Kenneth Clarke now the oldest MP in the UK parliament....who was a cabinet member already under Margaret Thatcher.
Clarke is described by the press as a 'Big Beast' of British politics, has served in the Cabinet as Chancellor of the Exchequer, Home Secretary, Lord Chancellor and Justice Secretary, Education Secretary, Health Secretary and minister without portfolio.QUOTE
Clarke : There was always a group of nationalists in the Tory party that didn't come to terms with our changed role in the world. In their eyes we have an imperial destiny. But that was fading away and we were becoming a rather pro-European party in the 1980s under Margaret Thatcher. Remember, it was us who had to persuade the Germans and French of the single market.

If you can get proof of income from your embassy it will be accepted.
If not you have to show the 40k baht or 65 baht needed for your extension going into a Thai bank from abroad every month.
something is strange....people getting proof of income from their Embassy - and no need to show bank transfers - may have commitments in their country of origin (such as alimony after a divorce) so that if they can survive here with 20.000 Baht a month it would still OK for Immigration.

Assuming your router and PC card are domestic grade then they probably only support 1Gbps as a theoretical maximum anyway. So you probably wont be getting that much in practice at all.
Who needs it anyway? I certainly don't.
I have 3BB and I am downloading lots of Dutch and Flemish TV series and the speed goes up and down between 20.000 and 50.000 kb/s and I am very happy with this result ...I am sure it also depends on the server where I get my downloads...

Around the world the hype is full on over medical cannabis, has anyone any news on it's proven benefits?
I don't disagree with it, far from it, just wondering if it's meeting the hype.
Benefits ? just open Youtube with search words : CNN Sanjay Gupta Weed

Hong Kong is since more than 20 years no longer the vital city for China to do trade and finance....and it will be brought sooner or later into the line wanted by the authorities in Beijing...that is the reality.

If you never overstay, if you have the funds, if your not a criminal and you visit to have fun and enjoy yourself why should there be a limit? Thai Immigration seem to think that anyone who visits Thailand too much ie more than 6 time a year, must be doing something illegal. Third world thinking.
In many "first world" countries the rule is that if you stay more than 6 months in total you are no longer a "tourist" and you need to apply for long term visa with justifications.

Since several months I noticed that BBC and CNN programs are delayed exactly 5 minutes (I do not look at other news channels)
This is inconvenient when planning recording : for programs of one hour I get extra 5 minutes of the previous program and I miss the last 5 minutes of the recorded program.
(The clock on my Truevision tuner indicates the same time as the clock on my PC)
Have other Truevision users the same experience?

The fact and the point is that all the power that is put in to making cannabis the new universal god of the world, is just a try to pave a way for legalizing smoking the drug everwhere. I just do not agree with that. If you want some countries I can mention Germany, Sweden, Norway as a few example just to amuse you and make you find some more to write about it.
I don't want to smoke anything but I would like to have it available in liquid or solid form in case I am terminally ill and suffering.

Not what you can do if they insist on you having the affidavit. The rules clearly state it is 2 or 3.
Perhaps get the bank statement (in Thai) and show it to them.
Good idea : I will try

Are you sure your local immigration office requires that the consular officers signature be verified by the Consular Affairs Department? Only a very few want it done. Which office are you applying at?
Will all your transfers show on the statement that they came from abroad?
I/O is in Pathum Thani / they started to insist on legalisation of consul officer by CW Consular Affairs Department already 3 years ago ...which is normal....but during the first 7 years they did not / yes all my transfers will show on monthly statement that money came from abroad and also mention "to support Thai wife"

Can you still get a affidavit from your embassy?
Perhaps immigration knows you can still get one and prefers that over the proving the funds going into a Thai bank from abroad.
No need for both. But immigration can ask for backup proof for the the affidavit if you can get one.
Yes I can get affidavit ...but I want to avoid cumbersome trips (traffic jams, waiting lines) to Embassy and CW Consular Department...my bank statements are issued at SCB around the corner of my street.

Your stat dec should've been accepted. It is income by transfers into the country or proof from your embassy.
Download the order. Amendment to police order 138/2557 Revising clauses 2.18 and 2.22 to include options for proof of income
About Clause 2.18 : there are 3 methods to show income. The last 10 years I used nr 3 the so-called "Embassy Letter" which in fact is my Affidavit certified by my Embassy and then translated and legalised at CW Consular Department. To avoid the cumbersome procedure of visits to Embassy and CW I started to use nr 2 and to transfer every month the required money (40.000 +) and each time I ask my bank for a print out as evidence.
However the I/O at my Immigration Office insists that nr 2 i.e. my bank print outs will not enough and that I still need nr 3 the "Embassy Letter" / Of course in the end I need to do what I/O wants do you agree that it should be nr 2 or nr 3 and NOT both?
