  1. Ok Karlos, hi res photos tomorrow. It is definately not a redrilled NC30 disk. It is larger.

    I didn't mean it was a re drilled NC30 disc :)

The NC30 has twice and many holes as this one pictured, Curious as to what disc it is now, but the bell looks identical to my NC30 bell...

Sorry no photos today. But will do tomorrow so we can get a better look at the whole front end.

  2. So what are your plans for this one?

General clean up or planning to do more?

How is the engine compared to your black one?

Will be fun to watch your progress.

I think just general cleanup and tuneup. There are some minor scratches on the fairings from careless removal/installations of the fairings that need tending to, and some minor cosmetic touch ups needed to the frame and wheels. Should be an easy job. I might go with a full glossy factory Honda red on this one.

The motor on the black one seems peppier, but I know there is something wrong with the coils or plugs on this one. It is getting weak spark and not pulling very hard. I have new plugs on order from Japan and will see if that does the trick. If not I will fit a coil from a CBR1000 on it.

  3. Ok, guys, another project for my idle hands. It is an NC30 that has a little custom work done. The bike is as I bought it. My question is, what front end is this? I am thinking it is from a CBR600RR, as many of the parts off that bike are interchangeable with NC30's. The forks, brakes calipers and brake discs look to be a complete set. Upside down forks, and much larger disc diameter. I need new fork seals, as oil is slowly leaking out, and will change the oils as well, but I need to know what I am ordering for. Also considering changing the brake pads.

  4. There may be no actual road blocks anymore but if there is a police man directing traffic at the bottom of the overpass he may stop you as it has happened to me. But he's only likely to be there during rush hours.

Agreed, I saw one cop who wanted to stop me on the bottom a bridge a couple of months ago, but I just went around him and he only half heartedly protested by chasing me 2-3 steps and throwing his hands up in the air. At least it wasn't a real stop, where they have strung out in front of me with arms locked together. Ahh, memories......

  5. Ditto, just came back from a run from Bangkok through Loei to Nong Khai, and benzine was everywhere OUTSIDE of Bangkok. Actually sitting right now trying to think of where to go around Onnut to fill up one of my bikes on benzine. It is disapearing fast here, but still everywhere outside the city.

There is a PTT station just past Sukhumvit 62, at Bang Chak, still has it too.

I don't think that PTT has it anymore

They did on Saturday when I filled up my tank.

Hey I went by again yesterday. They don't have benzine. They have 91 and 95 gasohol only, no benzine at all. The Petronas across the street is the same.

Ok, I meant the one across the street, Petronas, no benzine at all. I was there earlier today. I didn't look at the PTT.

  7. Someone please explain, I have a diesel truck so never paid much attention. Gf got a new car a few weeks ago and was told to use 91, what should she use when 91 is not available? Also I filled the car up this morning at a PTT in Rayong and they had 91 and 95, which seemed to be the only choices apart from diesel. So what might the brand names of this gasohol be? Any negative effect on a new car?

Thanks - I know she will start panicking if she can't find 91, because that is what the dealer told her to use....

If the car is less than a few years old, say 10, then anything OTHER than diesel will be fine. She can go gasohol 91 or 95, or any kind of benzine. No problems for her car.

  10. I think dogpoo has made his point, and I agree with it. I also have bought and sold cars and motorcycles to and from private individuals and a retail car showroom. In all cases where I was selling the vehicle, I always request that we meet near an ATM, the money is transferred to my account during which time I fill out the sales documents but don't sign. After I verify on my phone online that the deposit is made and in my account, then I sign the documents of transfer. My purchases have always been the same, the seller requests payment first, I request that we meet at the time of the payment so that I can see his green book, sales documents, etc. When I am buying, I only transfer in person at the time of completing the documents with the vehicle present and verified in agreed condition. When I am selling, I don't care when the transfer is made, but I do not surrender the vehicle or the documents until the transfer is verified.

In all my years, I have never requested, or been requested, to meet at the DLT. If by some chance the documents are fake or forged, I still have the vehicle, the DLT will not seize it - it is not their place to do so. Also, then civil and criminal proceedings can be initiated by me against the seller. But nothing fishy or dodgy has ever happened to me in any of my transactions, knock on wood.

This good enough? Not sure where you are starting or ending, but it should give you the right idea. I have rode over that bridge on my motorcycle, and there were some small scooters on there with me, but not many. I was careful to look out for areas where police might have a booth or a "big police helmet" but saw none on either side of the bridge. The general rule is, whether bikes are allowed or not, if the scooters are going on the bridge, then use it. If no scooters on a bridge that says no motorbikes, then avoid it. They know the days and times of days that the police have stops on the bridges. I have never been busted for riding my bike on a restricted bridge.

  12. It's a right mixed bag isn't it.

Generally if the road sign is blue stay off of it! smile.png

I my self have been 'stupid enough' to enter the expressway when coming back from Bang Saen via the Bang Na Trat.

After doing a U-turn I noticed a sign for Suvarnabhumi (not Suvarnabhumi Airport) so headed onto express way for a distance of 5km or so before quickly darting off onto Thannon On Nut to....Oppps biggrin.png

I have done the exact same thing there. As long as you get off at On Nut, you will be fine. It is the last exit before the tolls.

  13. I did not have good luck with Tomtom. Garmin has a Thai company that all they do is update the maps every year around Jan or Feb. Tomtom does not have a Thailand specific map, not nearly as detailed or as many POIs. Garmin allows me to set the detail on the map with 3 different detail settings so that you can eliminate the clutter. Tomtom frequently had me driving on dirt roads. It actually routed me down a dirt road not far outside of Bangkok and through a farmer's pineapple field. It was a very narrow 1 lane muddy dirt road, so I couldn't turn around and had to endure the poor farmer yelling at me as I drove through his farm to the connecting road. Funny, but not for him. I gave up Tomtom after that.

  14. I just use my iPhone with Garmin Thailand loaded. I used a car Garmin nuvi 3790, but the performance is the same. Using my phone means I don't have to carry an additional device. The phone's battery drains pretty quickly with 3G on all times, so I have a cigarette lighter charger hardwired into the switched light circuit, so power is off when the key is off. You can see it just to the right of the phone holder. When plugged in, battery level never dips below 100% with the GPS and 3G going. The mount is hand made from a belt clip holder for the iPhone. As you see in the photo, it swivels out of the way if I need it too. I use my headphones to listen to spoken turn by turn directions so that I don't have to have the screen on, or be distracted by looking at it.
