  1. I think USA's government is afriad to lost their piece of big cake because now the current govenment of Thailand just had signed MOU for rice, rubber and also signed contract for speed trains with China then how the USA's government not do something.

I hope the Kingdom just does not turn into a willing Vassal State of The People's Republic of China. Imagine for a moment, that decisions for Thailand's future will be made in Beijing and not in Bangkok. Hey you know, "Up to You!"

  2. Jean Rasczak: All right, let's sum up. This year 2349 in History, we talked about the failure of Democracy. How the social scientists of the 21st Century brought our world to the brink of chaos. We talked about the veterans, how they took control and imposed the stability that has lasted for Generations since. We talked about the rights and privileges between those who served in the armed forces and those who haven't, therefore called citizens and civilians.

Jean Rasczak: You. Why are only citizens allowed to vote?

Student: It's a reward. Something the federation gives you for doing federal service.

Jean Rasczak: No. Something given has no basis in value. When you vote, you are exercising political authority, you're using force. And force my friends is violence. The supreme authority from which all other authorities are derived.

Dizzy: My Mother always told me that violence doesn't solve anything.

Jean Rasczak: Really? I wonder what the City Founders of Hiroshima would have to say about that.

    [to Carmen]

    Jean Rasczak: You.

Carmen: They wouldn't say anything. Hiroshima was destroyed.

Jean Rasczak: Correct. Naked force has resolved more conflicts throughout history than any other factor. The contrary opinion, that violence doesn't solve anything, is wishful thinking at its worst; people who forget that always die.

  3. RIP to the young man. Condolences to the family. My 9 year old nephew had to go the the local hospital today due to being hit next to his left eye by some sort of firework he was playing with. Nothing serious, however he is now confined to his room for the rest of the day and his fireworks confiscated and soaked in a pail of water. Done!

  4. it is located in Kap Choeng.

And if you need copies of any Documents, there is a copy shoppe across the street from the main gate entrance, and also to the right of the main gate is a Bangkok Bank with an outdoor ATM if you are in need of cash. Very convenient Office with actually nice Officials there. If you have the time, stop in to the Outdoor Chong Chom Market for just about anything. And if you are really feeling Lucky that day, head to the Border Crossing and enter Cambodia and try your Luck in one of the two Casinos there. I prefer the Osmach Casino on the immediate left once you cross the border. Been there several times with the Missus and walked out with their cash that paid for the trip and the day. Lady Luck has been good to me there. Also, if you are a little adventurous, you can hire a motorbike taxi from the stand by the Casino and go into Osmach town and walk around the outdoor market there. Plus, if you are a smoker, you can get a Carton of Cambo or Texas brand cigarettes there for 100 Baht per carton. Doing all that will make for a nice day, providing you have the time. thumbsup.gif

  5. Book a double and get 2 room keys. A very simple solution. thumbsup.gif

Unless the cleaner goes in there 10 minutes later and turns it off..

That is generally not a problem that affects me too often. Me and the Missus will leave the room and actively seek the cleaning crew and inform them We are going to the Hotel restaurant for breakfast and ask them very politely if they can clean our room. Never encounter a problem when we do that. One will usually come into the room after our request and begin stripping the bed, etc. By the time we are finished eating, we'll go back to the cleaned room to prepare to leave for the day or whatever and slip a room card into the slot for the A/C as we are leaving the already cleaned room. See, easy and problem solved. For every action, there'a a reaction. Two room keys are still my best solution. thumbsup.gif

  6. Well, at least The Kingdom is not the most dangerous place on the Globe to drive. The most Dangerous Award goes to, are you ready? NAMIBIA holds the Title of the most Dangerous place on Earth to drive a vehicle. However, Thailand is in Second place. I'm not really sure what can be done to lower the mortality rate for Thailand, however. Perhaps, more driver education, stricter traffic law enforcement, shock safety campaigns with showing the aftermaths of the crashed vehicles involved. I don't really know, it appears that most drivers in the Kingdom, don't really know how to drive safely and couldn't care less. Even pushing a shopping cart in my nearby TESCO parking garage qualifies as a dangerous journey.

Here are the deadliest countries with automobile accidents, along with the number of fatalities per 100,000 residents. Note that there's only one overlapping country, Malawi. ("Congo" refers to the Republic of the Congo, not the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is a completely separate country.)

    1. Namibia (45)
    2. Thailand (44)
    3. Iran (38)
    4. Sudan (36)
    5. Swaziland (36)
    6. Venezuela (35)
    7. Congo (34)
    8. Malawi (32)
    9. Dominican Republic (32)
    10. Iraq (32)

And the lowest fatality rates from auto accidents. Again, there's little overlap, other than Maldives:

    184. Switzerland (5)
    185. Netherlands (4)
    186. Antigua and Barbuda (4)
    187. Tonga (4)
    188. Israel (4)
    189. Marshall Islands (4)
    190. Fiji (4)
    191. Malta (3)
    192. Tajikistan (3)
    193. Maldives (2)

  7. I would prefer he carried a sign which read, " Thai Ladies, stop eating Ice Cream, Oreo Cookies, Pizza's, KFC, McDonald's, drinking Cola's, etc. Because all types of Farang Food is indeed making your Butt look BIGGER in those shorts." I think that sends a more powerful message regarding the Beauty of Thai Ladies than a Female adding cosmetics to enhance their own natural beauty. Look at the Females of Farangland, the size of some of them qualify them to be sub-Planets themselves. I have noticed through the years the increasing of size of some, Thank Buddha not ALL, of the Thai Ladies. Beyond the gaining of weight, it also brings with it a myriad of health issues, Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiac issues, etc. Yeah, I think that would be a more valuable message to portray to the Ladies of Thailand. IMHO. thumbsup.gif

  8. I don't think the word "Failed" is being used in the proper connotation. Any ex-pat from any Country that tries to live abroad will find out, if the place He has chosen will be "Home" to him. It is not so much that the ex-pat who decides, after a period of time that the chosen place to domicile did not live up to his expectations and decided to move back or out, was by any account a Failure by Him, but rather the chosen place failed to live up to his or her expectations. This can happen even after a rigorous investigation or a lengthy stay of the Country chosen as your final destination. There are 193 Countries, 61 Territories and 6 Disputed Territories around the Globe, so have your pick. I've been in the Kingdom for 11 years and have Zero thoughts of ever leaving. Thailand is not for everyone, so if you choose to leave, you just pack up and try another place. No big deal, Thailand failed to live up to your expectations. Anyhow, I've always said, "Home is where the Heart is". IMHO. thumbsup.gif

  9. Cosmetic reforms ad nauseum. That list is very selective. No mention of asking the Myanmar government to crack down on all Golden Triangle smuggling (which is absolutely not going to happen).

I agree with your intentions but asking Mynamar to do something about the Shan state would just unreasonable and ridicolous. Shan state is not Myanmar, not even the national currency is accepted there.

I flew from Yangon to HeHo Airport in Taunggyi, Shan State recently and my Kyats were accepted everywhere I went.

  10. Just a tad bit more info about Rutnin Eye Hospital:

As part of his civil service, he founded and headed the Ophthalmology Department of Ramathibodi Hospital, one of Thailand's largest teaching hospitals. In a lifetime dedicated to clinical and academic Ophthalmology he made immense contributions to the growth and development of Ophthalmology in Thailand.

Give them a call. Chok Dee! thumbsup.gif

  11. For what ever reason the Rutnin Eye Hospital Home page just don't work.

However, access this to begin the information trail :http://www.rutnin.com/eng/about.php. My Doctor there is Nisa Sothornwit, M.D. and I give Her 2 thumbs up. However, there are 3 pages of Doctors to choose from. Call first and see who specializes in your particular problem. Rutnin Eye Hospital and it's staff can be summed up in one word: Amazing! thumbsup.gif

  12. California has always been considered as, The Left Coast" of the USA. Over the past couple Decades, with it's Political Correctness, High cost of living, High Tax base and the Invasion of it by illegals, it just might as well be called,"The Peoples Republic of California"

Is that your original thought for the day?

If You got a better thought than mine, share it with all of us.

  14. the leaders of the western world, china, japan, and the rest of asia are in danger of whip-lash (shaking head syndrome) .

actually, china kills off many, many, people who taint the countrys image. like the guys who put the plastic in the milk? their dead. the guys who cut corners on building permits and the building collapsed? their dead. and countless politicians are in jail for such petty things all the way to big ones. THAIS (the politicians) should be very, very affraid to be like china.

The P.R.C. holds People, both either in Political or Business Authority, accountable for their actions. I believe it goes far beyond tainting the Countries image. Those that violate their Authority are in direct confrontation with the very principles of the State. The end result, a short walk to the firing squad area. I don't have any problem with that at all. Unfortunately, not all those involved get the message while they are violating the Public Trust, and only learn the hard way, when their wrists are tied behind the stake. Good for the P.R.C., continue to take the garbage out!

  15. He fell of the stairs of the moving train? They should probably should lock the doors before the train starts moving ...

I don't agree about locking doors. There are times when people need to escape quickly.

Unless you're riding in a Freight Car without windows, lock the doors for safety. Passenger cars have windows that will allow most passengers to escape through. I do realize I also have to consider the size of the passenger to allow the escape through the usually broken and stayed open window. Ever ride the train from Wongwian Yai to Mahachai? With that particular route and the deplorable condition of the road bed, I'm surprised that no one has been thrown out of the open broken doors of the car into the swamps by the passenger car swaying back and forth. That route might as well be an Amusement Park ride. Perhaps, someone has been flung out and I'm just not aware. Any how, R.I.P. to the deceased and Condolences to the family.

  16. A Thai embezzlement crime? Very high class for Thailand, or at least they are just now bearing down on some of these white collar Thai criminals. Thai bankers? This is a rarity but very welcome news.

Sure wish we could learn a lesson or two in the USA about bearing down on unscrupulous bankers...instead we give them cabinet posts and make them head of the federal reserve.

Recently in China, a Bank Director was found guilty of embezzling the equivalent of $25 Million USD from his Bank. Sentence: Tied to a stake, his mouth was filled with lemon wedges and shot by firing squad. The team leader carried a pistol to him after Justice was served and fired a final round into his head. Now, THAT's a lesson to be taught to the Bankster's/Fraudster's of Wall Street and the City of London. IMHO.

If that's the best solution I'd rather they got away with it.

    Nothing justifies such barbarity.

Barbarity? What would you have done? Presented him with a Basket of "Brands"? When someone in a position of Authority violates that privilege, punishment should be severe. People deposit funds in an Institution for safe guarding and perhaps gaining some interest, or for a "Rainy Day" or for their "Golden Years" and should not have to worry about it being plundered by sociopaths committing a White Collar crime like a modern day PIRATE! These criminals don't care one bit, about whose it was or where it came from, but having the attitude, "It's Mine", possession is 99% of the Law! HaHaHa! First Class all the way Baby! No my Friend, it's not barbarity, it's Justice plain and simple. Look at the Financial Crash of 2007-2009 and YES, I lost most of my ASSets at the time. Nobody at the top of Goldman Sachs, Citibank, BofA, Merrill Lynch and on and on, faced any kind of Justice for sending the Globe into a near financial collapse. Only one Mega Shyster,Bernie Maddoff received Justice and will spend the rest of his life behind bars. He should have faced the Firing Squad for what he did. Dozens of people committed suicide when they found out their financial future had crashed and burned because of his Ponzi Scheme. I'm sorry, but any one who is in any Position of Authority, has that privilege granted to them, by people like you and me. If it's minor offenses, such as questionable trips or purchases, then repayment must be made and prison time could or would be served. A serious criminal offense that is committed which could jeopardize innocent people's future by criminal actions committed by others, than the ultimate punishment fit's the crime. Death by Firing Squad. Bravo to China! Other Countries need to take note!
