  1. See for directions:

    (Almost across from Pattaya Klang)

I paid 500baht to have my Aircon cleaned out in Bangkok (well my landlord paid).

Oh should I ask my landlord to pay for it? is it common practice? I've been renting this condo for almost a year now.

NUMCHAI on Sukhumvit offer in my opinion an excellent service.

Thanks, where is it exactly? Sukhumvit is a long road! Maybe a link to google map or a phone number perhaps? Thanks again!

  2. Believe me they are pretty bad:

    1. Plastic pedals break off

    2/.Chain snapped

    3/.Wheel bearings pack up.

    4/.Gear selection poor

    5/. Seat poor

    6/. Tyres rubbish

    7/. Wheels buckle easily

    Do yourself a favour,...

go to SV Bikes on Theprasi Road (jomtien)

The address is 62/1-3 Theprasit Road, Soi 8, (Jomtien down road from Sukhumvit) Tel 087-4861242 or 038-300378

or there is another shop on Sukhumvit, near Naklua turn off.

You can get a good well made bike from say 6000 baht

    see:

  3. You can get on E-Bay no problem, £6.00+- including postage, (posting to Thailand is no problem)..Paul

As I said in my OT posting medicines to Thailand is a no no.

Sending is no problem - arriving is out of the question.

Believe me I've tried before with other medication.

okay fine!! But I get every week post (including pills etc) absolutely no problem, and £6.00 price was for recorded tracking delivery, never a problem this way!

(worst that happens is sometimes I have to collect from Post office, I've never had any problem in 6 years with recorded delivery)

  5. If you want a "genuine" micro sim, go to your telecom supplier's shop and get a new sim. You can transfer all your contacts onto the old phone and then on to the new sim or phone if you feel the need to do so first. They will charge a nominal amount and transfer your number to the new sim. The helpful staff can also transfer the information if you do not feel up to the technology.

Not quite true, I went to One to call office at BIG C extra, and they do not have micro sim cards, they merely cut your card with scissors (free)

    Best Paul

  6. Been informed today that there will be an extra charge per TV and projector if displaying to the public in bars or restaurants etc. basically an additional monthly amount ..

Sent from my iPad using ThaiVisa app

CTH are charging more for business premises and they are issuing a price list (In Thai only) which the price actually varies according to TV screen size (!m serious!). This starts at 1500 baht monthly.

  7. A Thai friend called CTH today and the rep told her they were not charging more for business premises, so it seems the reps are giving out conflicting info

I'm sorry but you are mis-advised....CTH are charging more for business premises and they are issuing a price list (In Thai only) which the price actually varies according to TV screen size (!m serious!). This starts at 1500 baht monthly.

  8. Just been informed the following by the official distributor of CTH in Pattaya:

If you have Sophon cable, you can go to them and get a cable tuner. None of the other cable TV companies can do this.

If you do not have Sophon, you need a satellite receiver. Official prices are:

1,800 Baht one time deposit (the box remains CTH property).

200 Baht one time registration fee.

    125 Baht/month box rental

899 Baht/month for the EPL package (down to 599/month if prepaid for 3 years).

Maximum 3 receivers per household, plus 1,800 Baht deposit and 100 Baht registration per additional box (plus subscription).

The distributor normally only sell to installers,

So through an installer you need to add the cost for a small dish and the installation/his profit margin.

Required documents are ID card/housebook for Thai people, or passport and utility/internet bill showing name and address for foreigners.

CTH will send a monthly bill and you can pay at any counter service point (7/11, lotus etc).

Coming Monday they get the first delivery, but they are pretty much all reserved by the gazillion small installers in and around Pattaya.

Well thats sounds great, but when I went to Sophon Cable on South Pattaya road yesterday, they told me No, we are not offering cable tuner and have cancelled contract this year?

  9. Nothing but good things to say about Thai Post. Everything sent from Thailand has always been received by the addressee and likewise everything sent to me at numerous addresses in Thailand has always been delivered provided the correct address was written.

Bt60 for registered post is cheap insurance. The online ThaiPost tracking system only tracks your item to the international gateway. Foreign postal services generally do not enter inbound registered items on their system for tracking purposes apart from date and time of delivery.

On the one occasion an item was overdue - held for inspection by US Customs - ThaiPost tracking staff were most helpful.

Actually they now track all way to delivery address and times and dated.

  10. I agree with WayWardWind but if you chose the mail you can go to Soi Post Office off beach Rd. Quite well known for farangs and I believe it is soi 13 or soi 13/1? Maybe someone can say for sure.

You should be aware that these "kiosk" post offices are not actually the Thai Post Office, rather in general they are simply a shop masquerading as a post office and they can be dis-honest (from experience) and will overcharge.

The actual Thai Post offices I believe are on Naklua main road or Soi post office (13/1) and I think there are a few others around.

The Thai post tracking site is in English: http://track.thailandpost.com/trackinternet/Default.aspx?lang=en

Registered post is not expensive, even overseas!

  11. I go to Cambodia regularly via Koh Kong, and unless it has changed in the last few weeks, the border regardless of what the web site etc says will only accept 1200 Baht, and there response to those who have dollars is ("stay in Thailand or give 1200 Baht")

As already said the easy way all round is a 28US$ e-visa which also is quicker at the border as well.

    Best

    Paul

  12. It is terrible that anyone gets injured on the roads, but it seems to me that often pedestrians seem to act as idiots crossing the road, they don't even check that the road is clear and then act like of course the bike will stop???
