  1. Hi to everyone!

Usually I spend the day on Pattaya Beach, but sometimes for a change I go to Jomtien for the cleaner, quieter beach.

Yesterday I went there and was shocked!! The beach sand is filthy, rubbish everywhere, especially the KFC / Mc Donalds drink holders etc.

I was at the area opposite the temple, I realise now that this is the area that Thai schools utilise, they are from the villages and guesss that is what they are used to doing, just throwing the rubbish on the ground.

What a disappointmernt, the worst beach I have seen in years, worse than Vietnam beaches and that's saying something!

Surely the big hotels should realise the effect this has on there guests?B)

  2. Yes, jelly fish are around, I have seen many in deep waters.:jap:

No the water is still filthy, rather the tide at the moment is taking rubbish out to sea

    g

not sure whether it is jelly fish season, but don't try finding out the hard way! It is VERY nasty!

Cleaner water probably caused by less tourists?

  3. Well answered, keep up your efforts!

Some of these replies are crap,it is easily treated.Better buy a big bottle of Ivermectin from gov vet by fire station 3rd road, costs about 400 baht but each syringe full costs about 4 baht, vet will sell you a syringe full for 50 baht,...dose 100mil into a pork ball, let the dog eat it ,takes about 4 to do the job over 4 weeks. Can buy it in pill form also 60 Baht each pill

Better if you can get hold of dog inject it under the skin ,works faster PM me if you want help

  4. Regardless of what the notice board may say, my 20260 parels (again today arrive at Naklua Post office.) Issue closed..thanks

    yt

Well I hesitate to suggest you are wrong, but here goes...I live at 20260 and regulary (yesterday) have to collect undelivered items...always at Naklua Post Office.

    Depends on the zip-code:

asaik 20260 will go to the new post office Na-Jomtien along Sukhumvit near the interesction with Chayapruk II and 20150 will end up in the Banglamung (Naklua) postoffice.

DO NOT wait too long with the recovery of your parcel, because they usually hold it for 14 days and than it will be "returned to the sender".

Pdavies99, i think you are right, i live near Chaiyapruek 2 and my postcode is 20150, i had to collect a parcel last week from the new PO on Sukhumvit.

Then, next time you pick up a parcel from the new PO on Sukhumvit, check out the message board on the left side of the counters.

  6. Not wishing to into too much detail...but here it is:

RS Media (A Thai Coy) purchased the public rights from the World Cup for 2010 and 2014 for many millions of Baht.

They have the sole right for broadcasting in a PUBLIC PLACE anything to do with the World Cup and the 10,000 is the charge for any public place, anywhere in Thailand to broadcast the World Cup.

As an example Festival Shopping Mall paid a far higher price on the understanding that the 10,000 baht charge would be enforced.

If you look up RS media web site you can see the exact facts.

Unfair? Maybe but similar charges are made in most countries (including the UK) for watching football in the local pub.

This means regardless of the source of the signal, ie cable, satelite, internet, then you have to pay.

N.B. Pattaya Police have been informed that this is a civil crime and as such no government officials or Police should be involved with RS Media officials.

I am not involved with RS or anyone else, I just checked it out so I knew if I had to pay,Thanks!

  7. Unfortunately the road at Koh Kong is now terrible, new pot holes and road washed away in many places.

It can be done in a day in a minibus if you wish. A travel agent near the Beach Rd end of Soi 4 does it for about 1000 baht if I remember correctly. Its a long day though!

Another option would be to catch the bus to Trat for about 200 baht. Then minibus to Had Lek/Koh Kong for about 150 baht. Get scammed by the Cambodian officials for 1100 baht visa instead of 20USD at the border. Motodup into Koh Kong say 100 baht, then preferably the stay at night in Koh Kong (Koh Kong City Hotel 15/20USD) and then catch the morning bus to Phnom Penh. Virak Buntham about 5/10USD.

If you stay overnight I can recommend the food at Bobs Bar.

The road over the mountains is good now and non stop due to the ferries being replaced with the bridges.

A lot less stressful doing it over two days.

    Edit:

Or you could try this way: http://www.sihanoukv...taya-good-pics/

  8. Dear Traveller

Having traveled around a lot of Thailands beaches etc, I can say that it is well worth visting Hua Hin- Cha Am.. you can get there in relative comfort from Pattaya by mini bus for around 350 baht and there is a reasonable amount of nightlife, bars and places to stay etc.. The beaches and there are many along the coast are very clean and worth visiting. If you want picture etc and places to stay etc, please e-mail me.

Finally Koh Chang is vey nice EXCEPT when it is rainy season, (Like now) and then it can be very boring.

    Good luck.

  9. Thank you very much

Check the many threads on the subject of DSTV on this forum. It has already been discussed many times. The short version is that Sophon get many (most?) of their channels from DSTV (South Africa) and they are gradually shutting down transmissions that can be received in Thailand. Bloomberg is just one of the many channels that will disappear or have gone already. Maybe one day they will find another source for the feed, who knows.

  10. SOPHON's Reply

    Hi Mr.Paul

    1. We are now fixing the sound problem on channel 2. It'll be better as soon as possible.

    2. We have problem receiving the signal of Reality and Bloomberg channel.

This problem is being fixed and I'm sure we can bring the Bloomberg back next week but

the Reality might need more time because it's normally on almost the end of the range which is channel 61.

We are working hard to catch it back.

    3. We are building a new infrastructure to expand the channel to 120. So, you will see a lot more movie channels

    soon.

    Thank you very much

  12. Reading all the comments, then how come Hua Hin has Bloomberg and Reality TV etc yesterday 8th May on Cable TV?

Check out their website as an alternative, which contains written news along with audio and video downloads and streaming that basically makes broadcast television the equivalent of the dinosaurs.

    Check it out sometime :)

    Do you have a link?

  14. The delivery service is a free service, whatever argument you offer, the form you complete states "no perishables", why did you not ask how busy there were and how long the delivery time is?...

Why did you expect service as you would pay for overseas? You could have gone outside and paid a delivery vehicle at the front entrance for immediate delivery?

I bet you gave the delivery driver a tip, so he would remember a good customer!

    Good luck living here!

  15. H'mm good luck to you and maybe a long life? Please read below:

Clenbuterol is a potent, long-lasting bronchodilator that is prescribed for human use only outside of the U.S. It is abused generally by bodybuilders and athletes for its ability to increase lean muscle mass and reduce body fat (i.e., repartitioning effects). However, clenbuterol is also associated with significant adverse cardiovascular and neurological effects.

In the U.S., clenbuterol is not approved for human use; it is only approved for use in horses. In 1998, the FDA approved the clenbuterol-based Ventipulmin Syrup, manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., as a prescription-only drug for the treatment of airway obstruction in horses (0.8-3.2 µg/kg twice daily). This product is not intended for human use or for use in food-producing animals.

Outside the U.S., clenbuterol is available by prescription for the treatment of bronchial asthma in humans. It is available in tablets (0.01 or 0.02 mg per tablet) and liquid preparations. The recommended dosage is 0.02-0.03 mg twice daily.

    Chemistry and Pharmacology:

Clenbuterol is a beta2-adrenergic agonist. Stimulation of the beta2-adrenergic receptors on bronchial smooth muscle produces bronchodilation. However, clenbuterol, like other beta adrenergic agonists, can produce adverse cardiovascular and neurological effects, such as heart palpitations, muscle tremors, and nervousness. Activation of beta-adrenergic receptors also accounts for clenbuterol’s ability to increase lean muscle mass and reduce body fat, although the downstream mechanisms by which it does so have yet to be clearly defined.

After ingestion, clenbuterol is readily absorbed (70-80%) and remains in the body for awhile (25-39 hours). As a result of its long half life, the adverse effects of clenbuterol are often prolonged.

    Illicit Uses:

Clenbuterol is abused for its ability to alter body composition by reducing body fat and increasing skeletal muscle mass. It is typically abused by athletes and bodybuilders at a dose of 60-120 µg per day. It is often used in combination with other performance enhancing drugs, such as anabolic steroids and growth hormone.

It is also illicitly administered to livestock for its repartitioning effects. This has resulted in several outbreaks of acute illness in Spain, France, Italy, China, and Portugal 0.5-3 hours after individuals ingested liver and meat containing clenbuterol residues. The symptoms, which included increased heart rate, nervousness, headache, muscular tremor, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fever, and chills. Consequently, the U.S. and Europe actively monitor urine and tissue samples from livestock for the presence of clenbuterol.

There have also been reports of clenbuterol-tainted heroin and cocaine. Although no deaths were attributed to the clenbuterol exposures, the individuals were hospitalized for up to several days due to clenbuterol intoxication.

    User Population:

Clenbuterol is typically abused by athletes. It is thought to be more popular among female athletes as the repartitioning effects are not associated with the typical androgenic side effects (i.e., facial hair, deepening of the voice, and thickening of the skin) of anabolic steroids. Professional athletes in several different sports have tested positive for clenbuterol. Clenbuterol is also marketed and abused for weight-loss purposes.

    Illicit Distribution:

Clenbuterol is readily available on the Internet as tablets, syrup, and an injectable formulation. The drug is purportedly obtained by illegal importation from other countries where it is approved for human use.

DEA forensic laboratories reported 8 clenbuterol drug items in 2006, 28 items in 2007 and 18 items in 2008. In the first half of 2009, 6 items were reported by DEA laboratories. According to National Forensic Laboratory Information System (NFLIS), state and local forensic laboratories reported 24 clenbuterol drug items/exhibits in 2006, 18 items/exhibits in 2007, and 3 items/exhibits in 2008. From January to June 2009, one item/exhibit was identified as clenbuterol by state and local laboratories. The relatively small numbers are likely a reflection of the non-controlled status of clenbuterol in the United States.

    Control status:

Clenbuterol is currently not controlled under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). However, clenbuterol is listed by the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Olympic Committee as a performance enhancing drug; therefore athletes are barred from its use. Presently, no states have placed clenbuterol under control.

  16. You will not go wrong by going to SV Bike Pattaya, the lady there has two sons who are competition mountain bike riders around Asia, she has many quality bikes including TREK, Cat-Eye, Klein, Dahon, Santa Cruz, etc. She speaks excellent english and knows all about bikes.

Naturally you cannot test the bike before purchase, but you can sit on them! (Who will buy a bike that looks used?)

She also is very good at repairs using original parts in the main.

The address is 62/1-3 Theprasit Road, Soi 8, (Jomtien down road from Sukhumvit) Tel 087-4861242 or 038-300378

(P.S.Dont buy the rubbish from Supermarkets, they fall apart!)

    • Thanks 1
  17. Well, one important item is the guarantee, I know "This is Thailand", but TP Link maker offer a lifetime guarantee and have an agent repair shop on 3rd fllor of TUKCOM Computer shop and they change without any problems, (even after several years and several times!) .

As to the more expensive the better, well it depends on what package (download speed) you have with your ISP provider, I suggest 100Mbps is sufficient, unless you are a high speeder!!

Who is your Internet provider (ISP).
