  1. If you walk in the town centre I live (in the UK) every other person you walk past is a foreign EU national, I work for a Company who employes over 250 people and I would say 90% are from other countries, The town is becoming more and more racist and BNP are getting a much larger following, people think that they are talking our job etc... and I can tell you they have all soon clicked on to the benefits game!! They are given vouchers for food clothes, a council house and what ever else is available.

I don't understand politcs or economy but I sometimes wonder if this is a factor why our country is in such a mess? The population in UK is growing rapidly but this is due to foreign nationals.

But back to the orginal post by the op the BNP will never get into number 10, not if the greedy Company directors have anything to do with it because they are getting skilled workers at a knocked down price by employing foreign nationals.

I would just like to point out I am not a racist I have alot of friends who are foreign and I love learing about the culture and back grounds they have come from.

  2. Just emailed the hotel to see if they have any rooms available, got a feeling it may be fully booked :D

    I will let you know.

Only booked myself a couple of weeks ago. Fingers crossed they can squeeze you in! :)

Just to let you know they can squeeze us in!! Showed my other half last night and he was impressed, going to email them back today. Thanks again for your help.

  3. No gala dinner at this place on Koh Lanta.

    http://andalanta.com/

    Thanks Rixalex

This looks really good and is very reasonable priced, just one question - do you know if its close to any places where you can go for a drink or get something to eat?

    Many thanks

    Julie

Not sure about that Julie. Perhaps someone who has been to Koh Lanta can advise.

I hope it is as i've booked to go their myself, on the basis of quite a lot of research, reading reviews and the like. It's rated highly so i think you'd enjoy it whatever.

    Might see you there!

  4. Can anyone tell me if all hotels in Thailand charge for Gala Dinners on New Years Eve? We are looking at staying in either Krabi, Khao Lak or Ko lanta. Prices for the gala dinner are ranging from 4000 to 5500 baht one hotel charges 7000 baht. I can not justify these prices alo there is 3 of us so this is working out alot more than what we will be paying for the hotel room.

Can anyone recommend a hotel in any of these area's all we want is somewhere with a pool, near beach, clean and in walking distance to bars and places to eat.

    Any advice please :)

    Thanks

    Julie

Will do a little digging Julie. I can't stand this practice - forcing people to pay for something they do not want. Do you have a budget in mind for your hotel / resort - how long of stay - dates?

We arrive in Bangkok 0n the 26th December (not sure if we are foinf to stay in BKK 1 night) so I am looking to stay for either 6 or 7 nights checking out the 2nd January then we want to move on to another resort for a week. We would like to stay in any of the area's I mentioned on my original post. Its for 2 adults and a child aged 11, I know its high season but the gala dinner works out very expensive for a family of 3, I don't know how alot of people afford this! Our budget will be upto £800 for the 6-7 day stay, we normally go to Hua Hin and do not stay in the big hotels we like the smally Thai owned ones, we are hoping to find something cheaper for the 2nd week (fingers crossed).

Thank you in advance for your help. :D

  6. Have you tried Netflights?? They are the cheapest website to book with, also try changing your coming home date by upto 3 days either side, the date you have picked to come home is the Sunday so people who have had a xmas break will be wanting to come home this time. I booked my flights a few months ago with Netflights and we fly xmas day returning 9th Jan and the flight home is fully booked now, we only paid £1400 for 3 of us. Hope this helps :)

  7. The CSA will not help, they are only interested and get involved if you are claiming benefits in the UK, then they automatically get involved. I am a private client of the CSA I had to get intouch with them (because I work and don't claim any benefits) for them to get involved and trace my ex partner but I had his national insurance number and all other information. If I go to live oversea's I have to inform them and I think the money will stop.

This just does not happen to Thai women it happens to women every day in the UK and it stinks!!!

  8. I went to Bali in October 2005 2 weeks after the last bombings, I had booked to get married there and there was no way I was going to cancel because of this so we still went. Security was really good at the hotel all vehicle were checked before they were allowed into the driveway.

I got married at the Bali Hyatt in Sanur we spent 2 weeks there and loved every minute. I found Bali to be alot cheaper than Thailand and we were not pestered at all and we travelled around the island.

We did consider going to Thailand to get married but it was twice the cost of Bali.

We are returning to Thailand at Christmas but I think it will be out last trip for sometime, we are planning on going back to Bali next year in October for our 5th Wedding anniversary.

  11. Who has found a great deal pricewise? All flights I find are over 500 Gbp in cases of direct flights or short layovers. Can get under 500 quid if ready to stay a whole day in Istanbul, but that just isnt worth the hassle. I´ll be flying in to Bangkok with my wife first week in desember and back to Europe a month later, but with a single fare extra for a teenager. So anyone found the magic flight?

If you book through ebookers they were doing a deal but think it runs out end of month, flying with Eva direct from Heathrow flights departing upto 9th December, I booked my flights flying out Christmas Day direct with Eva and booked these with Netflights got it for £1466 for 3 of us which I thought was a bargain considering it is Christmas.

  12. I was thinking of having another tattoo done in Thailand when I come back for a holiday in December, I wanted my name on the base of my back in Thai script, would this be offensive to ask a Thai to do with me being British? Also could I rely that they would do my name in Thai and not some other word?

  13. I'm a british women and had a Triffid tattoo done on my left shoulder for my 30th, I forget I have even got it because I cant see it, my hubby also british as 3 aces and lucky on the top of his arm he had his done when he was 14years old but looks naff now he is in his 40's. Hubby just says it reminds him of when he was younger and growing up.

  14. I read this topic last night and driving to work this morning I took more notice of the streets and I can't believe what the women as reported. I don't come from a posh area of the UK but an old mining community and I'm not putting Thailand down but the streets where I come from are cleaner, I think the poor old dear is deluded and as nothing better to do with her time, but at least she is doing some good for her community!

  15. also plse check the actual flying time + the layover at each airport.

some flights are less expensive because they make several stopovers and take a long time to get to bkk.

for some, that is a huge benefit.... there is more time to load up in space.... lol

Eva are direct flights to Bkk from Heathrow, there is no stop over

  16. I think that must be her mate....maybe she meant to write......

think it's because I have minge in the photo.... :D

I'm shocked :) lol The other person in the photo happens to be my 10 year old daughter we had the photo took on one of the piers in Hua Hin :D

  17. I'm a women never been pm and also think its because I have a minging photo of me on my profile :)

Could be because you have Darlo in your nick... :D

I can say I am not from Darlington (thank God) but my hubby is, Dalo sounds better than Barnsley :D

  18. Just a way to get us to view her profile.

Seeriously though, is someone asking you if you are single really a 'proposition'? I have had many 'flirty' pms on tv and really it's just a bit of fun.

It was said as a joke, I just like the banter that is on here at times!
