I rarely leave our house these days

Thanks, My memory must be improving!

Am I correct that changing to a retirement extension from an existing extension based upon marriage must wait to the end of the current extension. I know Bangkok prefers retirement extensions because it is easier for them to manage.
Just need to know if the change can be done much earlier?

Just to report that yesterday I applied for the extension based on having my Thai wife. All my documents were carefully checked by me as normal and signed. I remembered the Officer's face from last years visit, not the same person, who looked at everything very carefully. She asked for last years copy of the tabian baan, oops, I threw it away when I inserted a new one to avoid confusing myself, then she checked two bank books which were updated the same day dowstairs at my Bank, noticing I am sure my small slip-up reported previously without any comment, took my money for the application and stamped my passport accordingly to come for the result in July. I had never seen this Captain previously. She asked to see the wedding certificate and original tabian baan and for some reason a copy of last years savings account transactions.
Oh dear, I have never been asked for the original tabian baan in many years of extensions so didn't take it.
Hence, today, my wife returned with the documents and signed copies that she had required.
The whole process was completed very quickly and efficiently with a much greater emphasis on the tabian baan for some unknown reason. Only one copy of the application is required at CW but I normally have a complete copy for my records plus of course the originals should they ask to see any.
-
Yes indeed. I just searched for updated information with CW and everything seems to be hunky dory except for my slip up I explained on another thread. In one of my accounts the added interest has virtually corrected it. One captain remembers us quite well so I will go with everything crossed that the one we get will accept it.

Just want to check, please. Next week I will apply for a one year extension based on my marriage.
I have copied last years successful application documents, will provide new ones where required from last year so theoretically I should be OK. i have never seen any changes to the required documents but would like my understanding confirmed?
I always take the originals with me if they need to see any..

Thanks, my memory is poor due to old age.

Is it not 3 calender months for renewals? and if so a 60 day extension would not be enough.
-
Yes, it dropped by less than Baht 1000 this week. My mistake.
For the last six months the funds have always been sufficient. I understand the Immigration don't allow any shortfall but I am not really sure.
-
Sorry but I deleted this information by accident.
Hence, I am looking for the transport costs from Bangkok and guesthouses for a visa trip to Savannakhet. I am married to a Thai lady but slipped up on the money required for a few days. ( a very small amount this month only). It will be corrected automatically next week but I am not sure if my application at Bangkok for a one year extension.will get rejected.
All advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers and many big thanks again.
Incidentally whilst I prefer Linux systems, I am only expressing my opinion.

No thanks. Too dangerous in my rather long experience of computers. Generally, Linux has over perhaps 12 years or more use has caused very few problems for me and I believe,is much safer!

I have re-installed the cups printing system and guess what -- it prints correctly again!. Good grief, that set back wasted a lot of time and caused much head scratching!.
Again you kind Members, many thanks for helping me sort this out. I shall now copy some more just in case
-
The PDF is perfect but printing it in Libre Office and it prints all wrong. Not sure if this is a Libre Office problem, printer or Linux issue. I know I've printed PDF's before successfully. Anyway thanks for trying to help me.

Daffy,
Many thanks for trying to help. Can you please attach those pages to a PM? I will then be able to open them correctly and print them
This is what happens in Linux because the originators of the forms have correctly locked the format in Word and I cannot unlock them. Linux sees their text as being larger, producing more pages therefore I get the first page as two pages instead of only one,
Laurence.
-
No, they never work with Linux and that is the reason why I asked if somebody would kindly send me the back and front copies to print. As I mentioned the Links you gave produces three pages in Linux not two as required. The
Linux format is just too large
Any chance you could do this for me?
-
I have been struggling with the TM 7 form, extension of stay, because I use Linux and the format for printing is different. Will some kind expat PM me a copy of the 2 pages i.e. need to copy the second page on to the back of the first page. Regret Linux print is larger and giving me three pages which will no revise!
Thanks and hoping someone can help?
Regards,
Laurence.

Please send PM, because I may need some assistance soon

AND just to confuse you all the Bangkok Immigration used to accept a combination of money in the Bank together with monthly income. I know because my wife and I obtained my annual extension using that method for two to three years. But then a new Immigration Boss arrived and stopped it. Of course the Thai Visa Lawyer forgot to tell me it had been stopped and my application was rejected. My pension at that time was not enough and I had to find extra money to get the Bank back up to Baht 400,000.- plus of course the extra costs to obtain a new Visa
So the answer is that it used to be allowed up to about three years ago even though the actual rules didn't allow it!

The Kor Ror 2 is usually attached to the wife's marriage certificate when registered. We have always provided a copy of the original one for at least 12 years and have never been asked for an updated one at Head Office, Bangkok. Two months ago, for the latest extension, absolutely no change in the required documents but take it just in case.
-
just hand in the passport when they call the queue number and they will return it when the approved stamp is entered and signed. As to using your messenger, I'm pretty sure they would accept a short request letter from you stating his name and ID number. Best to phone first I think.
-
Many thanks for that clarification. I have the other copies already and can show suitable Bank details.
-
OK, what does she need to do to help? We still talk to each other normally.
-
I expect to separate from my Thai wife soon but need a few more months to sort out my future. So looking for another 6 months here afterwards? Savannakhet seems to be the recommended place to obtain a suitable TR Visa.
Am I correct?

Note:- One photo should show husband and wife in front of the house number plate. If in Bangkok the Officer will probably ask you to obtain an ATM slip from the basement, but that depends on which Bank you use
