A terrible crime not an accident in my opinion.
Are they actually licenced to drive a vehicle carrying passengers?
-
Well, the English translation is quite clear that it's 2 months.
I'll try to remember to ask next time I do my 90 day report.
-
Can you locate the rule for us because Chaeng Wattana were adamant that it was 2 months the first time and 3 months thereafter?
Thanks.
-
That's the rule according to a Chaeng Wattana Captain. She said also the application must be 100% correct otherwise her Boss upstairs would reject it. Previously they had been permitted to relax the rules a little but not anymore or perhaps until a
new Boss arrives.
-
I think more correctly it is two months on the first application to extend and three months for future yearly extensions.
-
Just a reminder that if you are basing your extension renewal on Baht 400,000.- in the Bank it must have been there for a minimum of 3 months prior to the application.

Yes, I've been there many times on Company business. We also had a Branch Office in Vientane.
Unfortunately the place has fallen on hard times since the French departed and the Russians got there and neglected it.
I've even met elderly Laos people who can only speak French
But some lovely people mostly scraping a living.
-
A friendly warning.
Unmarried couples living together in Laos PDR is not permitted .
My colleague got caught and my Company had to pay somebody off to get the charge dropped.

Sorry insufficient information provided to advise specifically.
In a normal situation the Shareholder needs to be removed from the Board by majority vote. Your friend plus one Thai who holds at least 2%.
-
In Which Country would help.
-
I understood the Baht 400,000 or more rule was that the money was to be held at one Bank, NOT in one account for the required period of two or three months.
In my case this allows me to hold most of the money in a term account with better interest and the remainder in a Savings Account totaling together well in excess of the required amount. This allows flexibility for the monthly spends.
Has anybody here ever had the Bangkok Immigration's acceptance to this approach?
-
BKK Embassy will help in emergencies.
Speak to them when you arrive here.
-
They also like a letter written by your wife requesting them to issue a Visa.
More than Baht 100,000:- in the Bank Book or current Bank statement or a Bank Letter is all they need plus the other documents of course.
-
Just to confuse the issue, my Customer's husband has lived here for many years. He is Canadian and has a Retirement Visa these days. He has never ever had a Thai Bank Account but has more than sufficient funds in his Canadian Bank Account plus of course his pension. Each year his Bank confirms that his account holds more than sufficient cash for his Retirement Visa application.
One thing that amazed me was that he was still using the Bank's ATM for his monthly spends incurring a pretty high withdrawal charge every time.
I have never had the opportunity to talk to the person directly but his wife assures me that they have never had any problems with his Visa.

Suan Plu was always a nightmare place to go to especially since they made the 90 days reporting obligatory..
This morning there were 57 people waiting before me but I was in and out within 1 hour.
Personally, I think if one is married to a Thai it shouldn't be necessary.

Try vet Clinics and Grooming shops.
Cats should be housed in a separate room and when you find one ask to see (inspect) where they keep them.
-
We have a Clinic and Pet Hotel in Bangkok but.......
Regret we have no contacts in Pattaya
-
From KL International assuming you land at the new one, take the non-stop train to KL Central.
Depending upon the actual Hotel location you may be able to use the monorail for part of the remainder of the journey? Or taxi from KL Central to Hotel.

Never heard of a Degree being required for a Work Permit.
Is this a Teaching job or something special?

Interestingly, I have never been too impressed with Duang Dee and also cannot replicate the Dao Coffee I bought at the Exhibition. This may of course be down to my poor brewing methods and the fact that I didn't grind any beans so far.
Up to now for Thai Coffee I have a preference for Lanna Coffee which is more to my taste.
However, I will try again once I have located a bean supplier for the Coffees recommended in this Thread.
I also plan to try Ethiopian and Brazil beans when I get the chance to visit Peaberry's.
So keep your suggestions coming as I'm learning fast.
-
Oh, I just checked out Starbucks prices. Baht 545.- for 250 grams so they won't be getting get any custom from me
-
Any more sources for coffee beans in Bangkok?
-
Take the train from and to the New Airport (to KL Central). Very comfortable, quicker and half the price of a taxi.
Take the monorail in the direction of the Consulate (map needed) and find a Hotel, There are many reasonably cheap ones
Ask your wife to write a very short letter requesting that they issue a Visa for you. They like that!
When I went Thai Airways had the best deal surprisingly.
-
Sounds like I just got to hope the Immigration guy doesn't remember the wifes phone call and ask for an official translation, and if he does convince him it's not a requirement - wish me luck on that
On a point mentioned, I doubt the British Embassy would issue a document in Thai even if asked and even if they did I doubt it would be accepted as not being an Thai translation by a Thai.
Thanks y'all for your comments.
It wouldn't be a translation. It would a letter in Thai typed by a British Embassy Thai Staff Member.

Does your flight to Oz depart from the same Airport? There are two Airports, the new one and the old one. I think Air Asia flies to the old one. In either case I guess there will be an International passenger transfer system not requiring visas.
