Australian Aged Pension
The old age pension is taxable, but if it's your only source of income, you won't pay any tax. It still has to be included in your tax return if you lodge one.

Using old passport
This is incorrect. At least it is for Australian passport renewals.

Using old passport
Maybe it's because you can get some passports online now, so the Embassy doesn't actually see your old passport to invalidate it. It's cancelled online.

He has.

Australian Aged Pension
Pretty much correct. The ATO performs audits on occupation, dob-ins (not all obviously) and like you said, randomly. The chances of getting a random audit on a low income are pretty remote. Like you said, in most cases, it's not worth the time or effort.

Centrelink monitor your movements so they can adjust your pension. The ATO doesn't feel the need or have the resources to monitor everyone's movements in Australia. Obviously they can get access to your records if need be though.

Australian Aged Pension
Like LosLobo said, no use worrying over something that might not happen. Sure, be aware of it and even have a contingency plan if you need one.

Border Force don't really know where you are or care in most cases. They can really only look at your departing flight and what you put on a passenger card.

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2023)
Like we've discussed before, there's too many of these shows that don't provide an answer. I'm on the look out for them in reviews now. If the killers aren't found, I generally don't bother.

Barrabrava AKA Club Hooligans Lime This one looks quite good. Has excellent reviews. Sorry, couldn't find a trailer with English subs but you get the message. Summary: After a vicious internal fight, two brothers are expelled of their beloved team's gang. Alone, without money or political protection, they will start a war that will put their brotherhood to the test.

My son (Australian citizen / Thai born) entering Thailand on an Aussie passport?
That assumption is wrong. There's heaps of dual nationals with more than one passport. Like you said, it's relatively painless getting him an Aussie passport.

If you mean Billionaire Murders, there's only 4 episodes. 3 and 4 have just dropped. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27922326/ I think The Billionaire Murders is a podcast.

Anyone been back to Australia for the forced 2 year exile to move pension to Thailand?
Fair enough. So at the end of the day, you have to crunch the numbers and see if you have enough money to keep living in Thailand without the pension. You will also need to take into account if you receive the dole, will it be affected by having assets. You seem to be about 6 or 7 years away from having to make a decision. A lot can change during that time so it's probably not worth over thinking things.

Only you know your financial details and pretty much how much it would take to live and send money back to Thailand. Going on your previous posts, don't you have a 3rd option? That is to bring your family to Oz?

Rules never stay the same. How far off are you from your pension age?

Taking a Thai woman and child to Australia on a defacto visa
Does your friend have a child with his partner who is an Australian citizen? I've heard this can fast track permanent residency. You will never get a 100% guarantee of the visa, but as long as the health, character and relationship requirements are met, refusals are not common.

Taking a Thai woman and child to Australia on a defacto visa
The child will be included in the s/c 309 visa application. Cost will be around $10 000 for mother and child. There will be additional costs for medicals, translations etc. I assume your girlfriend has legal custody of the child. It usually takes 2 years after the granting of the 309 visa before a permanent resident visa (s/c 100) can be applied for. After gaining permanent residency, she can apply for citizenship. That's about it.

All Aussie Related Stuff (excluding the old age pension)
Gang, we seem to get a lot of other questions and queries placed on the Aged Pension thread. Also have several threads on the same subject such as how to renew an Aussie passport. Seems to me it would be a good idea if we could have a new thread that included all of the other stuff like renewing drivers licenses and passports, ATO related stuff including residency questions, other government department questions and pretty much anything else that people can think of. If people think it's a good idea, we can ask to get it pinned. Any thoughts?
