the problem I see here is the economic scales are so different between 3rd world Thailand and the west - from minimum wage - tax thresholds - salaries etc, they are not equal not even close.
If I start to pay tax in Thailand what do I get in return ?
They can't even tax their own citizens as pointed out earlier in this thread, only about 5% of the working population pay income tax, that's a huge number not paying income tax.

It sounds like they tried to roll the drunk, and he wasn't as drunk as they thought, and he fought back.
Possibly they arranged to have him take home by the motorbike driver after he had been robbed?
my thoughts exactly

What has been advised is that all readers should examine their tax status in Thailand and act accordingly. The purpose of this and other threads about tax are to advise and inform, not instruct.
Will you please explain what you mean by Revenue practise regarding foreigner's and explain how you know it hasn't changed.
can I ask you a question Mike
do you have business interests in Thailand and if so please provide details

this whole story makes no sense, sounds like the Thai version of events
orders bolt car then ends up on a motorbike taxi with bolt driver following for bt100, then the missing bt10,000, sounds like a shakedown that went bad

Well, I wasn't born yesterday, in fact I was born 65 years ago, and had a working life in my home country, and must have paid tax on my earnings.
I officially moved here 14 years ago (registered at the embassy at that time) so I had no duty anymore to file tax returns since, as I didn't live or work anymore in my home country or in Thailand.
so you have no income in the UK is that what you are saying ?

be very interesting to see if the original coalition parties jump ship back to MFP, they are free to do so and would end the current house majority shafting PT, remember who won the election

when I select "off" for aseannow it seems to fix the issue
only fixes when already in forum links, email url still requires a reload - the page just times out unless you stop it and reload it - it then loads instantly, so to load a page from an email link requires 3x actions, click the url in the email - click the X (stop) in the browser - then click the Refresh button, only after doing this will the forum page open - this is 100% of the time

My guess is that Pita is like every other politician...a self serving liar....yes he's new and fresh like Thaksin was in 2000 or whenever. Young people don't know that power corrupts everybody and as soon as Pita gets power he will do a 180. It is the law of people and politics.
I don't agree

everybody and their dog knew this, why where the charges persued and not immediately dismissed, there should now be an investigation into why they were not dropped immediately, the shares we also not directly held as they were part of an inheritance still to be settled through probate, shameful

yes still the same, pretty much everything requires a refresh to load a page, always loading from email notifications - they always start with http://url6795.aseannow.com
something not quite right, when I click an email to unfollow a topic it opens up the unfollow page, and I click once and it hangs - click again and it has unfollowed it already it just didn't refresh the page from the first click, this happens 100% of the time, no other websites I visit have these issues they all work perfectly
it may have something to do with trackers, from MS
The tracking prevention feature in Microsoft Edge protects users from online tracking by restricting the ability of trackers to access browser-based storage as well as the network.
The tracking prevention feature is built to uphold the Microsoft Edge browser privacy promise, while also ensuring that there is no impact by default to website compatibility or the economic viability of the web.
mine is set to balanced, there are 2 other options - basic and strict or of course 'OFF'
when I select "off" for aseannow it seems to fix the issue
