  1. Thailand has all the rights to raise a stink at the Unesco over this mistreatement of history, too.

What a dangerous, wrong and insane stance!

It means that Germany could claim French Alsace, we, French, could claim US Louisiana, England could have kept Hong Kong, Cambodia should claim the Kampuchea Krom from Vietnam which could claim some territories Chinese took. And the Korea? And Georgia? Laos could claim Issan as well. It's a never ending story.

History is UNFAIR, please understand that.

It's unfair and there is a moment when reasonable people (first of all is they are in charge) should stop to dream about a BIG Siam and make useless fuss.

Thailand has already a terrible civil war in the South, I wonder why they want to create artificially another one with a neighbor country.

My guess is that Abhisit who was not born in 1962 (or he was a baby) and who is not a bad man does not mind about this temple but he is still the hostage of the fascists (some army top officers, etc.)

Siam Once extend all the way from China to Singapore; from India to South China Sea (now Vietnam).

I don't even see how thai can say that they have thai food , because all thei food is simply south chinese food. They are planning now days to copy the japanese toilet and call it thai toilet

If Pad Thai is a centuries old Thai noodle recipe, why isn't that dish call Pad Siam? :)

If Muay Thai is a centuries old Thai sport, why isn't it called Muay Siam? :D

  2. If the Airport was further out, i.e. about an hour, like KL or HK then the rail link would be more useful. But like Singapore, it's just not far enough to justify the hopping around with luggage. It's far easier to take a taxi door-door for the +/-30 minute trip. The rail link seems to offer no time or cost savings when compared to a normal taxi.

It's also a lot easier in a taxi to take the expressway and circumnavigate any congestion hot-spots. Also, the area of the terminal station near Asoke is already a congestion hot-spot itself.

The link could be beneficial at times of extreme congestion such as Friday evenings, but that is the only time I could see it being of any use and only if you were willing to lug your baggage around on the BTS and subway.

    Quite right! :D

Hope they had used that budget to run trains between the terminals and the main building instead. :)

  3. The reality is quite simple - TV programs can distort it all they want but the equation remains the same.

Why spend 10 hours exposing your back in a rice field when one can earn 10 times as much in 1 hour lying on your back in an air-conditioned room? Or at least a room with a fan.

    :)

  4. In Thailand, of course, you have to leave the country to get a tourist visa, or change your visa status, etc. It is probably the worst visa system on the planet and leaves expats with no security.

Thailand is also that unique place where you need a work permit even after you are issued a permanent residence. :D

Not only is it necessary to renew the work permit annually, but you also need a re-entry visa before leaving the country on your permanent residence. All for a fee ofcourse. :)

  5. Hope they dont get the deposit back. No thoughts about all the job losses this could bring to Airbus? How is it so easy to just cancel an order.

The order hasn't been cancelled yet. The 1-sided idea has been floated by Thai - it may well be just political posturing to pretend that someone is addressing Thai's economic woes.

Anyway, wait till they contact Airbus and their lawyers get on the job.
