  1. Certified Rolfers will be in their institutes on line directory, usually with a division into countries and areas. Rare in SE Asia.

Note that there is now more than one organization training people in Ida Rolf’s work.

  2. Anybody know where I can get a metal barrel that never contained toxic materials? I would like to use it for a burn barrel to make bio char for the garden. Also, looking for the kind of plastic buckets that construction materials often come in would like that to be food grade but not as fussy about that. Never seem to see ones for sale.

I've always loved the power and design of the Makita portable power tools I've bought here over the years.

Be aware that prices vary and it certainly pays to shop around using Lazada or Shopee as a base price.

The cheapest place I've found is located on Maneenoparat just before the Sripoom Corner and past the Army/Navy type stores facing the moat.

Good luck finding what you want.

Thanks. Is that Nana Machine Parts?

  4. Thinking of buying one of Makita’s new battery operated reciprocating saws but most stores don’t have a display model. Any suggestions on a place  with all their tools? Their service center? Also, anyone prefer some different comparable brand? Thanks

  5. I have been waiting for my on line application for an international vaccine travel certificate all week. Where in Chiang Mai do you pick these up? I saw this previously in this forum but can’t fine info through search. I hope to drop in on my town trip today and hopefully get it. Thanks for a clinic name, hospital, office, whatever.

There are already several underwater high-voltage power-supply cables to the islands, but the increase of tourism and welfare in general makes the demand for further electricity higher – I hardly dare to think of all the electric cars coming to be charged, when the bridge project is finished...:whistling: – at the moment a couple of cables comes in at the southern part of the island in Taling Ngam-district, and the latest heavy duty cable, which also feed Koh Phangan, comes in at north in Maenam...????

Not so many years ago – shortly before the already ordered, but still not installed Maenam-cable came – one of the supply-cables, the major one, broke and the island was literally without electric power for three days. We had one hour of electricity every 18 hours or so – with power-supply schedules were hanging on the doors in 7-Eleven shops – shifting between the districts and mainly generated by mobile 300kW trucks, which a lot of other provinces helped with sending some of to the island, so about 50 of them in total. People were physically fighting for the last flashlights in Tesco and like places, and obtaining batteries also became a problem...????

The image shows a generator truck, and the cable-layer ship for the last Mainland-Phangan-Maenam supply...

But always look at the bright side of life: We had plenty of cosy candlelight dinners during the blackout...

  7. “The best policy is to ask at least three different people--not within earshot of each other, of course--and see if at least two of them agree.  Unless you have some consensus, you're likely destined for the goose chase.”

agree with this previous comment. Done this for many years in many countries

if I don’t get two out of three, I start over.

  8. 4,000 trees? Wow!

At that volume maybe you could seek out a partner with processing capability. You need market differentiation as the local market is flooded, mostly with one kind of mango.. Organic or place of origin are possible differentiation. Organic gives you a possible way to command a higher price, especially for export. Switching to organic would likely depress yields until you can revive the soil and learn what organic compatible products will help take care of your orchard. Those sprays may seem pricey but you only need a little product per tank and the commercial products keep getting more expensive. You might ask Dr. Treelove, as he took care of and/or owned a  commercial organic mango grove in Thailand. Best of luck.

  9. Living in Hawaii I saw the benefits of this building design in tropics. When we designed the house (finished in 2019) we incorporated those concepts. Right now our neighbors farmland is flooding and some of our friends’ houses have water coming up alongside their houses so I am happy to have our living space raised up from ground level. The open bottom floor gets a lot of use, very practical.
