The monument and small museum in Muang Ngai is interesting and further up 1178 is a nice hot springs park and the Kuomintang village of Arunothai which has a Friday market.

Was in Chiang Mai this weekend, busiest I’ve seen it for 9 months. Tourists seemed to be 95
+% Thai. Lots of Bangkok license plates. Small hotel we stayed in 100% full.

Thank you for the information, Michael. What is your opinion on whether to cut the Sunn Hemp early when it is not fibrous or whether to let it fully mature? Would only cost me about 700 baht to get it tilled by a tractor, cutting early is no extra cost. Won’t be replanting that area before June. Also, if the seed is not inoculated does it actually have an effect on the amount of rhizobium in the soil after it has been planted? I thought the extra nitrogen from the rhizobium was why you planted it?
-
Bout what I expected. Any sources for a powder to inoculate the seeds myself since I already have them? Or sources of already inoculated seeds? Thanks for the information.

Was happy with the results from planting a couple of kilos of green manure (sun bean). Will the second generation beans collected from those plants already have the microorganisms that help the soil or do I need to add inoculant for good results?

Has anyone actually seen orange pumpkins at the Muang mai market?

Would love to get some also. Waiting to try rice straw for when water flowing through ponds stops.

15 hours ago, scorecard said:their awareness is limited to 2 meters around themselves and not much more.
Perhaps 2 meters in front of themselves might be more accurate?

Thanks for the replies. Now if I can spot the cocoon!
-
Certainly very similar. However, a horticulturist friend with long experience with Atlas moths and larvae thought it was different enough to likely be another, similarly large moth. To me it looks fatter and without the spots of color.

Looking online the Atlanta moth is similar but not identical. Hope we get to see the ‘mothra’

I don’t even want to get close enough to take a better picture! It’s way up a tree, that’s why it’s hard to get a better shot.

Burning Of Lamyai prunings continues in Chiang Dao. There certainly might be other sources or reasons for the crappy air, my wife thinks so.
-
In Chiang Dao lots and lots of burning, many thick plumes of smoke. They harvest the lamyai by cutting off the ends of all the branches, then burn them
later, mostly while still wet and/or green.

Before they finished the complex, which includes apartments, the giant head was displayed where the entire statue is now for some time. I saw it busy many times in 2018-2019.

Final outcome; went to Promenade early, they were super nice and seemed desperate for customers. About 5 people there, only me for 90 day report. No luck, needed to get TM30 at airport office first, but assured me we could do drive through 90 day reporting. Went there, and while I parked, wife got TM30 with new house book. Then walked through the drive in lane as there was no inside option. Grumpy nice clerk suggested on line reporting the next time. All done fairly fast with no problems.

Tip of the hat, to you, sir.

Thanks a lot. Could you tell me what their hours are tomorrow? I’m getting various info online, some dated.

As you expected, Ubonjoe, wife was able to get a house book this morning. Wanted to check again on whether I need to do a form for change in permanent address. I thought that was different than the TM30? Also, which office(s) in Chinang Mai should I go to? Thanks
Chiang Dao....Suggestions?

The Nest 2 has good Thai food (reservation) and nearby is Jin’s, a small and heartfelt Italian resto.
