  1. Excellent news for the junta and unelected cronies. Faster than expected may well mean it did not take as long to set up a new offshore bank for the skimming of 35% of the project cost to be deposited for them.

Of course things will slow down if and when a real democratic government ever gets elected and instigates true transparent contract bidding and award processes and ensure proper project governance, but the current incumbents will be well and truly wealthy by then and as is historically the case "will no longer give a t*ss* about the general populace, not that they do much now I suspect.

  2. On second thoughts these incompetent right wing Elites/Hiso/thieves/Generals/Government members may not be so arrogant, stupid and incompetent as they are made out to be. Thais do have a proclivity to watching old American B movies and thinking that is how Americans live. They also believe the crap soaps on Thai TV are true but that is only because they are intellectually challenged.

However clearly in this case some of that is not true but he is clearly an old movie buff ( or should that be old buffer ? ) as he has watched the very old Disney movie "The Mouse that roared". Perhaps he is so delusional and he thinks the US are going to invade Thailand in order to stop permanently the trade in knock-offs/human trafficking and intellectual property right thefts so endemic in Thailand. Then the US will plough in so much aid, as they usually do to help the people and this idiot and his government cronies think they could skim another 35 % , as they usually do !!!!

  3. Ah, yes, we are back to that old chestnut of 'Attitude Adjustment'.

Like those who were taken away before for protesting.

This is sinister when people cannot speak their minds without being summoned for doing so. IMHO

History always repeats itself. The dangerous looney has styled himself after PolPot, Stalin and the totally head case in N Korea. Makes the case for the US Envoys recent comments a bit of an understatement in reality.

Exactly. Wave after wave of murders and wholesale executions. Non stop torture of suspects. Special prisons.

Listen to yourself. Do you realize there is not a soul in the world that takes you seriously, when you spout off like that? Not a soul. He maybe a dictator. And few like a dictator. But by comparison, he is about as gentle as they come. A Raul Castro, an Ida Amin, a Robert Mugabe, a Kim Jung Un he is definitely not.

All I can say then is dream on and keep wearing your rose tinted glasses and continue to be utterly delusional.

  5. The NACC is nothing but a bunch of rabid dogs chasing down their bloodied prey.

Putting her in jail will completely end any hopes of reconciliation for this country. It will also prove what everyone knows, this country is being taken over by an Bangkok elite that intend to govern this country whether they are elected or not and thus there goes all hopes of Democracy ever coming to this country.

Generally agree with those comments although "govern" is perhaps an exaggeration given the credentials of those appointed.

Would be more apt perhaps if you change "govern" to "fleece"

  6. Well you do not own land in your wildest dreams in Thailand so I assume you mean your girlfriend owns the 2.5 Rai ? With respect to the other land at 350,000 per rai then being a successful buyer/sellor previously then why do you need to ask members on the forum. Surely you would have researched and developed your own business plan.

But let's assuming most of what you have written is at best fantasy and you really have no idea about land values, nor the where with it all to do a bit of local research let me just say if you buy that land in that location for that price you will make someone very happy - problem is it won't be you as it is a grossly inflated price.

Do you actually know what land title it comes with ? Chanote or a basic Nor Sor Nong ? The latter of which of course you will understand is somewhat restrictive

  7. Zero percent on jet skis your having a laugh !smile.png

This year I brought into thailand a small inflatable quicksilver , and a 5 hp mercury outboard cost me on uk ebay

about 20.000 baht and customs wanted 22,000 after a few phone calls got it down to 15.000 sti crazy price for5 year old boat and 15 year old engine but I was kinda expecting that

how the so called customs can drop the import duty price in a phone call !!!!!

You have to remember your not in the us or uk dealing with normal customs

Here they do what they want I suspect my boat never had any customs paper work

    corruption

my advise dont import anything !!!!!

You should try changing Customs brokers if that's the case. My broker imports 12 boats a month for his personal business and pays 7% VAT and that's it. My last import was an aircraft which he negotiated the VAT down to 4%, rather than the usual 7%. I have 2 used jet skis arriving next month....he figured 7% on a declared value of 50% of actual cost.

I was looking for actual, real life feedback from business owners. I'm not sure the background of you guys but you don't come across as particularly successful. Let me guess....old, fat, bald, met your wife on a barfine, living here on a pension?

So your customs broker who you admit pays the fixed VAT of 7% himself on imports managed to negotiate that same fixed 7% VAT due on your aircraft down to 4%.

    You are talking complete bullshite.

this poster should be able to outline the actual procedure on importing an aircraft into Thailand and how long it took and which government departments are involved as one can't just import and aircraft into Thailand and "pay the vat"

Plus a private aircraft can only be 100% Thai owned and with one owner, no shared ownership is allowed.
