  1. The "My Albums" link within the member bar is not working as described. I have seen this on another forum also upgraded to the latest forum software (so it is a bug, not unique to thaivisa.com)

the problem is the "autocom=gallery" is the older reference to the forum gallery, it should be:

    "act=module&module=gallery" or "automodule=gallery"

The bing ! I get the following messge:

"Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 6400 bytes) in /home/thaivcom/public_html/forum/modules/gallery/lib/image.php on line 414

I will look into this error also

  3. To choice the previous blue colored skin (IPB 2.2.0 Default), use the skin selection drop down box at the bottom left corner of the forum.

Ah, that's useful! Is the setting tied into your user account or it it cookie based?

The skin selection is stored within your web browser's cookie

NEW YORK - A group of researchers led by the University of Tokyo has broken Internet speed records — twice in two days. Operators of the high-speed Internet2 network announced Tuesday that the researchers on Dec. 30 sent data at 7.67 gigabits per second, using standard communications protocols.

The next day, using modified protocols, the team broke the record again by sending data over the same 20,000-mile path at 9.08 Gbps.

That likely represents the current network's final record because rules require a 10 percent improvement for recognition, a percentage that would bring the next record right at the Internet2's current theoretical limit of 10 Gbps.

However, the Internet2 consortium is planning to build a new network with a capacity of 100 Gbps. With the 10-fold increase, a high-quality version of the movie "The Matrix" could be sent in a few seconds rather than half a minute over the current Internet2 and two days over a typical home broadband line.

Researchers used the newer Internet addressing system, called IPv6, to break the records in December. Data started in Tokyo and went to Chicago, Amsterdam and Seattle before returning to Tokyo. The previous high of 6.96 Gbps was set in November 2005.

Speed records under the older addressing system, IPv4, are in a separate category and stand at 8.8 Gbps, set in February 2006.

The Internet2 is run by a consortium of more than 200 U.S. university. It is currently working to merge with another ultrahigh-speed, next-generation network, National LambdaRail.

The announcement of the new record was made at the Internet2 consortium's spring meeting, which ends Wednesday in Arlington, Va.

  5. ok have cleared cache etc....

so lets see....one more go at this......

PS. what I dont understand is...if I can upload pics onto gallery on thaivisa, then why not on to the threads ......hmmmmm

i adjusted your account, try it again now - upload within a post and if that doesn't work try within a new blog.

my gut feeling is it is a setting within your browser, if you have firefox then try with IE (to test, we know firefox is preferred)

  6. Pianoman, if the immigration officer talks again about 800k in the bank and embassy certification of income, you may want to show him your English translation of the rules and ask him if perhaps there is a mistake in the translation, whether under 7.21 his Thai original says "and", not "or" at the end of clause (3).
    (3) Proof of income of not less than Baht 65,000 per month; or

    (4) Account deposit with a bank in Thailand of not less than Baht 800,000 as shown in bank

account transactions for the past 3 months

Hopefully, you do not have to get a new bank letter but if you do, I suggest you ask the bank to add something like "During the past 3 months the balance has never been less than THB 800,000".

    --

    Maestro

This is a good idea and a bank should be able to add this to their 'standard Immigration bank funds template document'. Although, an Immigration officer is still going to look at your passbook and easily see how long a 800k balance has been existing.

  7. Now can anyone show me that in order to get a visa to support a child then you have to be over 50?

I heard it personally from the Pol. Lt. Col at Bangkok Immigration. You need to be over 50 to receive an extension based on support of a Thai child regardless of the age of the child. (Tilleke & Gibbons English Translation documentation was also given to me)

Makes no sense, I can meet again to see if anything has changed in the last month.

  8. I am tempted to go to Bangkok Immigration with the same documents and see what they say prior to wasting more time and money with the US Embassy....

I would not recommend this - although it may not happen, there is a slight possibility you could end up with an 'under consideration' extension stamp and then you will HAVE to go back to Bangkok in 30 days for a follow up stamp.

The US embassy letter is painless, and quick to get.

Let us know how it goes.

  9. Clause (4) is intended for the foreign child of a person living in Thailand, to enable the child to live with his family.

    --

    Maestro

Incorrect. A child can already be included in a parent's non-immigrant "O" visa. The interpretation Sunbelt has put forth makes absolutely no sense and I'm certain that whoever was refused an extension had other issues besides being "under 50." Also, because this is new, the immigration folks may be a bit confused by their own rules.

It does not make sense, but since the new rules went into effect it is 100% true (as I have personally verified this with Immigration).

  10. While attempting to add an attachment, the "Insert Image" and the "Insert Link" both are "url" exclusive. (requiring an http link)

How do you insert an attachment from your own database without using a URL?

Sorry for asking....I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

go below the text box for typing a post and you will see

    attach_logo.png Attachments

click on the gray Browse... button

pick a file from your hard disk

then click on the green UPLOAD button

you will then see a flash of UPLOADING in that area as your file is now ready to be posted

you should also see the following:

attach_ok.png Upload successful and is available from the 'Manage Current Attachments' menu

There should also now say Manage Current Attachments (1) in the drop down box above the file choosing area

when clicking to add your post as normal, this attachment(s) will show up at the bottom of the post.

  12. Guys i posted a topic on the stickman saga, i have just noticed that after 8 replies it has been deleted from the forum? no explanation at all? if something written was wrong couldnt it have been pointed out? if the subject is not for discussion on TV then again why not lock the post and explain.

Is there more to this? the subject is certainly of interest within the expat community within Thailand so why not discuss it?

This was the decision of one our moderators and I support it. A very delicate matter that may have legal issues, please see the forum rules.

  13. Guitar Legends J.J. CALE AND ERIC CLAPTON Unite For an Epic, Soulful CD Release “THE ROAD TO ESCONDIDO”

News entry published on 14 September 2006 / Last modified on 22 October 2006

    Album Available November 7, 2006

After years of admiring each others musical masterworks and Clapton covers of Cale songs such as "After Midnight" and "Cocaine," guitar greats J.J. Cale and Eric Clapton have teamed up for the first time to create an original album together, The Road To Escondido. The 14 track CD was produced and recorded by the duo in August 2005 in California. The resulting music defies being labeled into any one category, but instead finds influence across the spectrum of blues, rock, country and folk. A hybrid sound that is unique musically, while still bearing the signature styles of Cale and Clapton recognized by fans around the world. The songs are warm and rich, with deep flowing rhythms, yet use an economy of words to express much.

For Clapton fans i recommend a DVD called 'Crossroads Guitar Festival - Dallas' came out in 2004. Eric, BB, Cray, Buddy Guy, Doyle Bramhall II, Joe Walsh, Santana, Vai and ZZ top and others just shredding the blues. Clapton and JJ Cale do 'After Midnight', killer version.

Bangkok - Clapton in concert with Doyle Bramhall II, sounds great !!

  15. I am having a problem with the front page.....it wont or is taking so long to load that I have resorted to backdooring through searching a thread....ie...I type Jindala Punlab in search which gives me a link to the forum....however I use the front page for the exchange rate from the Bangkok Bank as it an accurate rate reader.

Is this a site problem or mine....it started yesterday before that it was fine.

when you say 'front page' are you referring to the thaivisa.com portal located here:
