Was there not a person who said that the Covid virus did just slid of Thai people , not even touching them . BTW yes vaccines for regular covid arent working as good for omicron as it used to be for "normal" covid. We all know that . I got my nr 3 planned this wednesday , and i expect nr 4 somewhere in summertime ( adapted version) . Virus change , covid is still new but we do follow it very hard , all countries , in fact everything else is come to a standstill . Take care and watch out , before you know its on your doorstep ... but also , life is returning to normal , it is still a long way and will be but we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel .

Orientation and combining of Solar Panels
sezze replied to MJCM's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Yes parallel is no problem , i specified "serial" string . @crossy , already mentioned parallel as a way to put them . -
Orientation and combining of Solar Panels
sezze replied to MJCM's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Only thing you can't do is running different orientation of panels in same series string . Same series string makes all panels perform like the weakest link ( same with shadow on 1 of the panels , try to avoid it ) . -
which airline do you fly and why?
sezze replied to World Traveller2's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
When i started coming to Thailand i used to take direct flights from Amsterdam , with EVA or China Airlines . After i came more , so i started looking in the better frequent flyer program of the 2 and i signed up for China Airlines . I travelled multiple times in business class with them on miles or just for free ( the upgraded me on the counter without me even asking for it ) . A few years ago the direct route was cancelled , so i started looking different options . Left on the choice was Qatar , Etihad and Emirates . , all about halfway of Brussels-BKK . so a nice stop in the middle , which i found attractive ( and still do ) . Qatar was the 1st 1 out since i did read about strong alcohol rules in Qatar , idk if it is true , but if im in a airport waiting for a few hours , i'd like a few drinks . Left over was Etihad and Emirates . Between the 2 i did choose Etihad because of the slightly better FF program . If i can come again ( hopefully not too long from now ) i will try to book with Etihad again , starting again where i left off ( because of covid ) . -
TBH , and everything i've seen from the growing up . Yes i'm not 35 anymore , but i've seen the educational system go down ( people having chem degrees and don't know what is dangerous or not because they only learned from books ) . The way i seen things grow makes me think , yes people now are certainly smart then they used to be . They do know <deleted>loads more about posting movies on YT and similar , but actually knowing things , i am afraid of the future . This does not matter for me , im old enough to get me around this wave but i am sure that this will go well beyond my time on this planet .

If you are in same taxi or close to seat in airplane as a person who does test positive , you will be quarantined also , for 7 or 10 days . This is considered high risk contact , so even if you test negative , you will be quarantined but if you keep staying negative , insurance will not cover you . This is mentioned before by several others before , even some who did ask the insurance . Positive but asymptomatic-> insurance pays Positive and hospital -> insurance pays Negative but required quarantine because of high risk contact -> insurance does not pay . That is also why some mention coming over and specific asking for solo taxi to test location/hotel .

Covid - 19, The Omicron Variant and Christmas 2021
sezze replied to Havenstreet1940's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Don't simply assume things on SA , the population there is not at all the same like in EU . The data out of UK is much more important then the ones out of SA . SA can give a hint , but with the cases in UK , you get very reliable large scale data from a country which has more or less the same population/vaccination/health issues then the rest of EU . Remember 1st wave , better act a bit too fast then too slow , and rather be cautious then confident . You can always make everything back to normal , but you can't make the hospitals empty in a day . -
Covid - 19, The Omicron Variant and Christmas 2021
sezze replied to Havenstreet1940's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
True , but the way it spreads , and a confirmed kill and 1st cases in hospitals are something to keep a eye on . You can't wait 2 weeks more if the spread is like that , with the virulence unknown . -
Covid - 19, The Omicron Variant and Christmas 2021
sezze replied to Havenstreet1940's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
The panic is there since they see the spread of Omicron . It is 50% extra every single day , so more then doubling every 2 days ... you can see in 14d how far we are ( take a excel file and add 50% daily ... check your numbers...) . 1st cases are in hospital and 1st confirmed death is also there , so it is not a save and harmless virus . Will it be safer then Delta , probably , but the spread rate is too fast , especially if the virulence is unknown , but it certainly isn't a cold . -
AstraZeneca offers no protection against Omicron after 100 days
sezze replied to webfact's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Lab scale testing can extrapolate the results based on original protection -time related diminishing . It is not 99d it is protecting and 100d no protection . It is low to start with and reduces faster , so after 100d , it is below what "scientists" call "effective" . -
So the doctors are wrong and you know better ? https://www.insider.com/does-drinking-alcohol-warm-you-up-2016-12 https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/32256/does-drinking-alcohol-really-keep-you-warm-when-its-cold-out https://www.livescience.com/55435-does-drinking-alcohol-warm-your-body.html https://www.alcohol.org/effects/warm-flushed-skin/ I can give plenty more examples , all saying the same thing . This effect can also be seen on your face , since drinking alcohol gives you a blush quite fast . When you are cold , the veins narrow , because it is a reaction to keep the bodyheat in the core and not on the surface . If you drink alcohol , veins widen again , sending the blood to the skin , this creating the skin to heat up ( the warm feeling) but in fact the body temp is dropping since the blood is cooled. So this Thai doctor is right to say it , since some of the foreigners also don't know it yet.

https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/30277820 This newspaper i can mention i think ? Anyway , it happens very regular . Not the coastal towns , because the sea always keeps the temp at nice lvls , even in the coldest seasons , but inside Thailand , it does get really cold .Remember that daytime can still be hot and that everything is build for hot and not for cold .
-
Well they are right . It's perfectly fine to drink alcohol , but not if you are cold and trying a drink to heat you up , since in fact it does just the opposite . Alcohol widens your veins and by that more blood goes to your skin . This makes you feel warmer , but in fact it is cooling your core temp . Nobody said you can't do , only give the recommendation for people who do try such thing .There are people dying many times in Thailand from undercooling , and many Thais do not have the knowledge that in fact the lao khao just does the opposite .
-
Not for quarantine for high risk contact ( testing negative ). Yes , spending 10-20 hours in airports and aircraft , with tons of people around , it certainly is worrying .The more people come over the more chance you suddenly in a aircraft where somebody tested positive , and you are quarantined , at own cost .

What do the numbers 1-4 on a Honda Dream speedometer mean?
sezze replied to nitayagirl's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Check the meter itself , it aint the lights on the side he is asking , its on the speedometer on the inside . There is a 1 at 30km/h , 2 at 50km/h ... -
SURVEY: Will the night life entertainment return? When?
sezze replied to Scott's topic in Thailand News
It will change , like everything changes . What will remain is , when there is demand , there will be a supply , and opposite . They can ban gogo bars , but they won't ban coffee houses or just normal bars . Then there will be a demand and the supply will certainly be there . -
Thailand detects fourth potential Omicron case, first three confirmed
sezze replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Didn't it matter if we knew the situation was going to be like this 2y ago ? Wuhan style lockdown for 6 weeks everywhere and it was done and over with , everybody would be back to normal . Problem was we reacted too little too late , which is normal since we didn't see anything like this in 100years . But you are right , it is already everywhere , so it is happening wanting or not . Let's just say , i would not book my flight just yet .... ( and if you can wait a few weeks , i would 100% recommend the same ) . -
Thailand detects fourth potential Omicron case, first three confirmed
sezze replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
If it is , then it blows all other corona virus straight out of the water , and land and sky also . Those numbers are doubling every 2 days !!! Wont be long before we get the data from elderly / weak / vaxxed and un vaxxed being infected and hopefully only running nose , but has to be like that since the spread is way too fast to get any hospital up to that kind of speed . -
SURVEY: Omicron--Dangerous, Worrisome or Overblown?
sezze replied to Scott's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
There is NO virus which does kill all of us . Even the 100% deadly rabies , does have a confirmed survivor ( a girl ) . There will always be people who are immune for a certain type of virus . The number is suspected to be quite large , much more then a handful , estimate is around 10% of population . And most of them are Caucasian , because they were also immune for bubonic plague . You can check the data on various sources ... -
Thailand detects fourth potential Omicron case, first three confirmed
sezze replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Nothing but upside is a bit too strong language . There are atm good signs , but they can turn very bad very fast . Better be safe then sorry , you remember 1st wave yes ? I heard about it around X-mas/NY about some new virus in China , next nothing to worry , next littlebit worry , next Wuhan lockdown ... thats bad but it's China so far away . Next up boom and we are where we are now , 2 years later . The data from UK is the ones needing follow up , since i do not trust the data from SA , not that there aren't good things there , but data out of Africa in general is very spotted and a complete different situation then in UK and for that the Western world . These are not good numbers ... and so far , even the most careful projections give it a less then 50% hospital admissions over Delta . The spread is too fast to make up for that , but it might just be ok , if the vaccines still do their job . So , yes , there are some good signs , but there are some very worrying also . Data will be out in 1 week at max , the way this is spreading . -

UK now got 1898 confirmed cases of Omicron . If it really is a less virulent variant will show very soon . Let's get the hopes up , otherwise might be a very bad winter coming . -
loving the job vs not leaving the job is a different thing . I love my job , i would not like to do anything different ( well unless theres something i can do from Thailand which there isnt) , but i would not think about 1 second if i get the chance to leave . If i get pension age , i will leave and not think back 1 single second , same as i am home now for 2 months , love to stay longer like that , 2 months is nothing but at least it clears my head .

This is just stupid , unless somebody did give him a kiss on the mouth or anything else to come in contact with body fluids , there is no danger whatsoever . A death body does not spread body fluids , which does contain the virus . I do many times support heavy rules for covid but this is crazy but expectable in Thailand. They believe in ghost , don't know anything about a bacteria or virus , so i believe this story is unfortunate prob is true .

In my kind of work thats good . Like i said im a chemical process operator . This means our team , control the chemical plant . There are many days our PLC control can take care just about everything .Like the autopilot on a airplane . These days , i /team are working on autopilot also , company making money . Problem is , like in a airplane , autopilots do fail or things just break down and all hell can break lose in seconds . Compared to a aircraft , we control a few aircrafts at the same time , and we do crash a few times a year , but we do save many times the crashes also . In busy moments , theres a few 100 alarms to 1000s of alarms /h , trying to fix things , before a emergency shutdown ( thats a crash) . So yes , my job is to try to do as little as possible, check signs before something goes wrong , and adjust a few minor things before things turn really bad . It looks weird but my job is like that , the less i got to do , the more my company is happy .
