As I've said before come about the start of September someone should look over the side and say " MMM bit full now more rain on the way" Then begin a measured metered flow Eg. 1000000 Sq meters in and 800000 Sq metrs out. Thus filling slowly and releasing a steady flow.

To my knowledge the Pattaya Beach Road has been flooding like this for over 20 years so its hardly what you would call news. however 50 cm of rain thats nearly 1 1/2 feet thats a lot !

Reminds me of the good old days on Sukhumvit Rd by the Thai tobbaco monopoly. Used to sit n drink a beer while watching the BIB knock yobs off their bikes with pick-axe handle n sticks . A favoured method was to try n stick it througk the spokes on the wheels or another was the baseball bat to the head ( and remember back then even less people wore helmets.)

MMM... lets see 200 tow trucks and 15! cars towed...i wonder what the 185 remaining trucks where doing ??

The fines are way to low. i would imagine that 500 baht would not even cover the towing costs let alone the paper work ect . 200 Baht storage fee cost that an hour in most inner city car parks. also what happens to unclaimed vehicles ?

Mild drizzle with odd moderate rain since 4am- ish here in Khon Kaen city

Had more falangs than Thai's try scamming me. BTW as a rule Thai con artist's are much easier to spot unless you have the IQ of an ant or are very very greedy.
The truth " If it sounds to be to good to be true.. ect" then it is!

Amazing thailand strikes again !
When will the powers that be show a little back bone when dealing with the problem of tuk-tuk and taxi cooperatives ( mafia controlled gangs ) I live in Khon kaen which apparentally is Thailands 4th largest city. There is no public transport here. Could you imagine say Manchester UK or Dallas with no bus service? Chaos n carnage lol.

Shifty looking sod.. you would have to be totally daft to trust a bloke looking like that.

At last a police chief that checks the bogs! Now if only could clean the sewer that is mostly the rest of the city how wonderful life would be !
But on a more serious note . The state of most jail cells in police stations are horrific with some of the older upcountry ones overcrowding and a bucket for a bog make a hygene nightmare.

I had a mate who got refused because on the day he went to apply he discovered that his balance was 75 baht under the required amount and had been for a couple of days he asked the officer if he could put 500 baht in from his other acc. to cover the shortfall only to be told no sorry must have said amount in bank for 3 months . Overly zealous enforcement maybe but following the law to the letter.
Remember people these officers love to say no so make sure you give them no joy.

I'm suprised that anyone would drink that crap anyway .After 25 years here the one thing I still miss in a good pint of English ale none o this lager slops . Was a time you could get Draught Guinness in a can . No more alas! I wonder why ?

Perhaps for a small fee you could get some one to accidentally back their truck over it ... OOPS lol. No but seriously compain at the local gov office . If they " club" aint paying tax's ect they'll get their collar felt.

Having been driving here for the last 24 years and having been in quite a few fender benders my self I am not suprised at your insurers attidute but my Thai friends have faired no better. So I dont think that this is just another case of Falang discrimination.
To many of us white folks always assume its discrimination when in fact the locals would do no better under the same circumstances.

The sex industry is everywhere, lowlifes, are everywhere, crime is everywhere. What I dislike about Pattaya is the bad roads , the price gouging, the noise near the beach , the ever present dust away from the beach and the Falang ghetto's all over but that also goes for Chiang Mai, Sukhumvit , Phuket and many other places.
It does'nt matter where you are in the world where ever you get a gathering of tourists it ends up the same. Damn shame but true , sigh.

While your at it take out a few of those annoying transvestites . They hunt in packs and are far more dangerous. LOL

This is crazy story!
1 - Poisoning street dogs has a positive impact on safety and confidence for anyone willing to take a walk at night and even during the day, however:
2 - Poisoning animals is probably illegal, and more than likely to be reprehended by most Thai people, therefore you should have done it secretly. Now that you told a neighbors you can't do it anymore, or you'll have to face their anger.
3 - In case of emergency, air-cons technicians can be put outside. Obviously this wasn't an emergency (the child wasn't dying or blooding to death), however:
4 - I would NEVER let anybody touch my child without my presence and my confirmed consent.
5 - I would EVEN MORE NEVER let anybody take my child to any medical institute!
6 - I would NEVER allow doctors to inject ANYTHING to me or my child without my EXPRESS CONSENT, which I give only after understanding the product to be injected and after making some researches about it online (government websites, university websites, wikipedia, others resources).
7 - You should know that antibiotics, vaccines, synthetic nutriments/vitamins and medicines have all undesired side effects, sometime the side effects (permanent allergies, strong illness, death) are more dangerous than what you're trying to cure/avoid in the first place.
8 - Those antibiotics/vaccines/medicines are still on the market because the pharmaceutic industry is so powerful that it dictates the rules and finance the "independent" researches and testings of their own products.
9 - When your child is bitten by a dog, it's time for a drastic change in your life.
10 - What I would do if that had happened (god preserves) to my child: I would have cleaned the wound myself and let him recover by himself. No doctors, no hospital, and especially no threatening the neighbors of killing their dogs (!), would still have killed the dog secretly. If after a few days or a week the child shows any unusual symptoms I would research on the Internet about those symptoms, if helpless I would make an appointment with a doctor at a convenient time (not the emergency service). That's what I WOULD DO, now you're free to live your life your way
However i concur with most of the points you make above I have a few remarks.
6 - I would NEVER allow doctors to inject ANYTHING to me or my child without my EXPRESS CONSENT, which I give only after understanding the product to be injected and after making some researches about it online (government websites, university websites, wikipedia, others resources).
So you would suggest I go to the hospital see the doctor and ask what he's gonna inject, then step outside and go to an internet shop to research what he has told, then go back to have some further discussions or eventually allow him to do what he suggest ?

The wound had already been cleaned by the woman before she brought the boy home. I have no experience whatsoever with rabies or tetanus, so I considered it best to send him to the doctor as soon as possible to have the necessary injections. I don't think that there is any financial interest from the doctor since he was taken to the government hospital.
I have this evening done some research on rabies, after I got the first reply in this thread, and found out that no humans are known who survived from rabies. So waiting until he showed symptoms would be probably too late
There have been several rabies survivers all in the USA but given that the local medical care is not as good I would say that here your dead!
Also ot can take up to 6 months to show any signs of infection.
Loosing control while being bored.

The truth is that those how remain in the village are either to lazy or to thick to get work other than following a cows arse all day.
I speak reasonably fluent Issan and Thai and whilst living in a village was amazed at the monotany of life.
Anyone with any get up and go was already gone.
