I have enough of it, what are my options?
If you don't mind enormous flatpacks/snaps. If you don't mind loosing functionality of your touchpad and touch screen. If you're not interested in a good taskmanager that shows you a clear picture of what your computer is doing , especially your 1 or 2 GPU's. If you don't mind pulling your SD cards out without a clear signal that you can. If you don't mind renaming files/folders with a right click. Hard to install with secure boot on , weird grub screens at start up,.... Good windows apps that work differently (worse) or have no good alternative in linux and I can go on and on. But great that you are happy with it. I wish I was , so I could ditch windows.

In linux if you DL what would be a small progr /app in windows , you get enormous flatpacks or snaps installs. Their software store has smaller size but their updates are bad. So if you are worried over 847 MB , don't use linux.

Bitcoin or Gold?
Just be aware that gold and silver markets are heavily manipulated. As soon as the conflict in the ME fades , it will go down again.

^ I can't find it on that site . You mean running XP on a new computer ? XP has not been written off. Next year I go to europe where my 2nd hand identical twin computer is and make 1 from the 2. I still have the original XP install cd and all the drivers/progr and MS (wanted) updates. I still need that computer to access my TrueCrypts. Truecrypt volumes crash my W11 , in truecrypt , or veracrypt in truecrypt mode. I hear a lot that W7 was the best. I didn't like it and stayed with XP till begin 2023. Still like it better.

That would not be good. We will not have any control left , when it is in the cloud. I'll keep my installer on USB drive then so I can keep my older version. History repeats itself for me . No updating my XP from 2011 on , now no updating of W11 . Still better than Linux.

Good to know , I'll stick with 22621.1928. Even if I wouldn't use Edge , it is good to have it as a backup if there is a problem with the other browsers you use. "The last Windows update has elevated most programs to WEB programs and are now part of the MS WEB." Wich ones ? Linux like some posters recommend is very frustrating and disappointing. It is with good reason that after decades and a million distro's, linux is still nowhere on desktop computing for the masses. Try it and you'll find out for youself.

Strange what you write about W11, Confuscious. I come from XP and I got used to W11 . You can totally get rid of all the forced Microsoft ads and news . Edge is ok , it is not forced , I like it better than firefox. Photo is not that bad. I haven’t found anything better. Video and audio all open in potplayer or MPE-BE , I deleted all the W11 audio and videoplayers. Much of the bloat and crapware can be uninstalled. You don’t need a Microsoft account either. W11 updates can be blocked , even in home version with a good firewall. I’ve tried Linux Mint and Zorin OS ,and as much as I hate Microsoft , I was glad to re-install W11. If you get annoyed by W11 , you’ll be even more annoyed by linux. If you have a new computer , linux will not fully support all your hardware.

You don't agree or understand , so I'm a troll ? Evasive ? Where ?

Being a loner in retirement
More to this ? I don't get it. No there is no more to this. Is it mean I don't want that the money I made goes to someone else ? Maybe a donation to AJ in Austin Texas. ????

Being a loner in retirement
Yes , I read that too , but I don't get it. Say you "give" your money to such a company , and it pays you back monthly. If you die , the money that they received most likely hasn't ran out. So by your death the insurance (or other) company keeps your money (if you don't want anymore payments to someone ). That company wins . You leave it to them. Only when the money you gave them runs out before you die , there will be nothing left . Then also : you give them nearly all your money ? Or what is left with you is again going to the wrong hands. Some tax collectors might look at those payments as income , and tax it again. Or am I wrong ?

Being a loner in retirement
Hey , I'm like you but I don't want to give anything so explain what an annuity is . When I read about it , I don't get it. If you don't want to leave anything , only 2 ways : spend it or destroy it. I go for the second but impossible with an unexpected quick death. I've come at the age where I only get more money because of the generation before me , dying off. It is hard to spend when nearly nothing is worth spending your money on. I don't do hookers. Certainly don't want to leave it to the state , which ever it is , Thailand or my euro s-hole.

Prime Minister Srettha should listen to the experts on cash handout
So , let's say 50 milj Thais get 10k ... that's 500 Billion THB or about 13 Billion euro . That should be possible .

Being a loner in retirement
If you want no one to get it , it is impossible. And to get back to the topic : maybe the only downside of being a loner (with no kids) , is the things you leave behind after you die. Yes it has been said already , this subject is becoming morbid.

Shrink-flation in Thailand
Lays are 58B for the big family pack (158 gr I think). Lotus or Bigc have them often in "buy two get one free". 38,7 B/pack .

Being a loner in retirement
I don't want to leave anything. With a slow death like cancer , there is enough time. With quick death like stroke or accident (thailand !!) or heart attack , there is no time , and that worries me a lot !

Being a loner in retirement
Being alone does not mean I can't contact "outside" help. If you are completely helpless , you may have hundreds friends or family , but you can't contact them either. About assets , I can't take steps to ensure where they go.

Being a loner in retirement
I have completely no interest in festive days , western or here in Thailand. The decorations for Xmas in the supermarkets are kind of stupid because it is a buddist country . Only "holiday" I keep out of sight is songkran, of course. It is great here in Thailand , all western holidays are ignored , except for new year .

Being a loner in retirement
Another thing I don't understand . What does it matter if I'm dying alone or some family member or friend is there with me ? I'm more worried about the assets I leave behind.
