Yes he should - The bar was for sure in his wife's name and she employed thai's. He stayed without visa, he worked without permit and when his wife died he didn't care about the bar neither the employees sitting and drinking feeling sorry for himself so no reson to glorify a helpless wretch who never cared about the rules in the country he choosed to live in and finally must pay the price for it …

From photos in the earlier post, he had work permit before his passport expired. So, I don't understand why he doesn't renew his passport in the first place.

I don't see the connection between overcharging and the need for insurance.

If you cannot afford the insurance then you certainly can't afford the hospital bill if you get seriously I'll or injured. So why take the risk of staying?

In the UK, everyone gets charged the same in private hospitals which, as in Thailand are commercial enterprises. NHS hospitals are paid for out of our taxes so some foreigners are charged the full cost of treatment.

I presume he was either treated in a private hospital or should be charged as a Thai due to his status.

Hauhin hospital is a government hospital so why foreigners expect to pay the bills same as Thai. Even in EU and US cann't do that for foreigners.

  4. I don't know why this news is different from Thai smile statement.

In the statement, they mentioned that the foreign husband said "I'm not terrorist" when FA asked to see his boarding pass and "I'm terrorist, this (their carry-on baggage) is bomb" when FA offer to stored their luggage into the overhead bin. The Thai wife didn't say anything.

The government was not forthcoming with the information too. It was leaked out by spokesman Sansern when answering a question on the financial health of the government. To counter a question that the government was going bankrupt, he blurted our a counter response that the government still have 74.9 B Baht in the reserves. That slip piqued the curiosity of an economic lecturer who told Sansern there was 420B Baht in the reserves. Then after comes a ton of excuses and white lies and a new treasury level set by the junta at between 50-100 B. Obviously, they know there are no ways they can pay back the reserves withdrawal. Obviously not normal as some here attest to.

I don't know why the economic lecturer commented like that. I think he should know that TR in May usually higher than TR in Dec or Jan and it can't comparable. He should wait and compare it with the same month except he has an other agenda.

  6. Treasury reserves.jpg

From this chart, you can see that the highest treasury reserves is in September every when all tax and revenue are collected from every sectors and then it will be decreased sharply every year.

So. I think the low treasury reserves in this period of the year is normal.

And for the old news, I think they compare apple to orange because they can't compare TR in May vs TR in December or January.

Day 5 Month 6 of lunar calendar in 1902, winter season, rabbit year is the finished date of Phra Malai.

We, Sorn, Toh and Deang, produce Phra Malai for the Buddhist.

If we are still travelling, we wish to be bored sin and obscene.

And we wish to born in Phra Sriariyamettri era.

  8. Translated to the current Thai language.

First paragraph is stated the finished date of Phra Malai in Lunar calendar.

Second paragraph is honored to the Buddhist.

  9. As my mother used to say!! there are people with brains, and some people without.!!

I am not that harsh and feel some pity for those who hit the wrong day.

    It's indeed quite a mess.

This Royal Ploughing Ceremony (May 9) is an absolute no event anywhere out of Bangkok and has no effect on ordinary peoples daily life. But good enough for a government holiday.

And today is a present of Mr. P. to his loyal subordinates tongue.png

I think there are 39 public Holidays this year.

Surely this is a populist policy, and from my experience damaging to the Thai economy.

I am waiting of release of things from Customs, documents from DBD, appointments with Tesabaan, and even the Postman. I am only on the fringe of Thai Society, but Feeling like I am the only one who cares. Is that Thainess? I am fed up.

There are 16 Public Holidays this year (extra holidays included). I don't know where you get 39 days for public holidays.

  10. One big holiday for immigration offices. They just had 5 days off for songkran. Pathetic

I agree it is pathetic. From what I hear from my Thai friends the decision to have holidays on today and Monday was only made yesterday, namely Thursday. This sudden decision to give themselves more days off will adversely affect a large amount of people who had planned or needed to visit immigration and it will also greatly inconvenience many others who find banks shut again.

So as well as being pathetic, its' selfish too.

Today and Monday were announced as holidays since last year so I doubt the information from your friends.

  11. I have a few Thai calendars that show the Thai holidays, and none of them show Monday May 9th, as being any kind of holiday.

Just trying to help the OP, because if they are open on Monday, and he goes on Tuesday, then he will have an overstay to deal with.

+1...sure! May 9th is not an hollyday of any sort coffee1.gif

May 9th, 2016 is a Royal Ploughing Ceremony Day which is a holiday for only government sector. Like a labour day is a holiday for only private sector.
