  2. Guess how much I miss you

    เธอไม่รู้หรอกว่าฉันคิดถึงเธอมากแค่ไหน

For Siri. Guess how much we miss you! Are you missing us too? Let's read this book together. We love you! Love Mommy, Daddy, Dale and Jack.

    ถึงศิริ เธอไม่รู้หรอกว่าเราคิดถึงคุณมากแค่ไหน เธอก็คงคิดถึงเราเหมือนกันใช่หรือไม่ เรามาอ่านหนังสือเรื่องนี้ด้วยกัน พวกเรารักคุณ! รักแม่ รักพ่อ รักเดลและแจ็ค

You know that I love you more than words could ever say. But do you know how much I miss you when I'm far away?

    เธอก็รู้ว่าฉันรักเธอมากกว่าที่จะเอ่ยออกมาเป็นคำพูดได้ แต่เธอไม่รู้หรอกว่าฉันคิดถึงเธอมากแค่ไหนเมื่อฉันอยู่ไกลอย่างนี้?

I miss you more than flowers would miss the sun.

    ฉันคิดถึงเธอมากกว่าดอกไม้จะคิดถึงพระอาทิตย์

I miss you more than a squirrel would miss his favorite tree.

    ฉันคิดถึงเธอมากกว่ากระรอกจะคิดถึงต้นไม้ที่เขาชื่นชอบ

I miss you more than eagles would miss the chance to fly.

    ฉันคิดถึงเธอมากกว่านกอินทรีจะคิดถึงการโบยบิน

I miss you more than a dolphin would miss the sea.

    ฉันคิดถึงเธอมากกว่าโลมาจะคิดถึงทะเล

I miss you every day that we're apart, but I don't feel too blue….

    ฉันคิดถึงคุณวันที่เราห่างจากกัน แต่ฉันไม่รู้สึกเศร้าเกินไป ...

…because I know that with each day , I'm one day closer to seeing you. We love you Siri!

    ... เพราะฉันรู้ว่าในแต่ละวันที่ผ่านไป หมายถึงอีกหนึ่งวันที่ฉันใกล้จะได้พบเธอ เรารักเธอศิริ!

I adjusted some words for smooth sentences. Hope these help.

  3. ซึ่ง ๆ หหน้า is in the dictionary means ต่อหน้า an adverb describing the manner of doing something; in this case 'face to face' 'to her face'. I guess personally is good enough. ๆ this symbol is written with a space before and after but the space after หน่า is a comma.

ๆ is written with space after it.

    For example: ผู้หญิงคนนี้สวยจริงๆ นะ

  4. In 1904-1907, the French and Siamese decided on a line along the "watershed line of the mountain range". That puts the temple on Thai soil.

Some of the maps produced at that time moved off the watershed line around the area of the temple - including, apparently, some official maps - putting the temple on Cambodian soil. There was no discussion as to why the border moved off the watershed line at this area, so IMO, the Thais did not realise this at the time.

The Cambodians used these maps in their arguments to the World Court. The Thais used the principle of their agreement with the French of the watershed line.

The Cambodians won the decision in the world court because a majority (9 to 3) of judges ruled that, basically, the Thais had accepted the maps, so the maps should be used. The decision was NOT because of the Khmer heritage of the site.

It's easy now to see that the maps don't follow the mountain range watershed line (which was the generally agreed line at the time of the original demarcation) with all the satellites and technology, but in 1907 and even 1962 that wouldn't have been so easy.

As far as I understand, in 1904-1907, the temple was never drawn in Thai territory. It can argued back then that the Thai government overlooked this issue, which was either intentional or not. The land around it turned into a squabble after 1962 because Thailand occupied the temple and was compelled to give it back.

Your reference is the Siamese-French treaty or the map.

Which one are important than other, the 1904 and 1907 Siamese-French treatys or the maps?

And have you ever read the treatys?

  5. Actual stat from Immigration Office classify by types of visa.

    http://www.immigrati...e.php?page=stat

    1.นักท่องเที่ยว = tourist visa

    2. คนอยู่ชั่วคราว = Non-Im visa

    3. คนเดินทางผ่าน = transit visa

    4.ยกเว้นการตรวจลงตรา = visa exemption

    รวมต่างชาติ = foreigner in total

    Doesn't this show that http://www.immigrati...2010_nation.xls

about 1.5 million foreigners entered Thailand January-May 2010?

Compared to January- May 2009 http://www.immigrati...2009_nation.xls

    about 4.8 million entered Thailand.

But then again, I might be reading it wrong... Google translate is many times not very accurate between Thai-English.

    6,951,238 foriegners entered Thailand in January-May 2010.

  7. I was told :

If number start with #3 means Thai by birth

If number start with #5 means for those born in the hilltribes and registered in Thai hospital for birth cert.

If number start with #8 means for those transfer of citizenship. So far, I only seen transfer of citizenship for those long term hilltribe immigrants.

Can you please tell us what is your the first number on your Thai ID card?

I've got a 5 at the beginning of my Thai ID number. And yes, I'm an overseas born Thai national.

My Daughter, born here while not having an ID card yet (she is only a baby), the first number of her ID is a '1'. This may or may not change when she grows up ang gets her ID card.

Hi Txs Samran for the reply.

It is interesting to know all the different 'classification' of the Thai ID numbers.

I am lucky to see one id card starting with the digit #1 today !

With yours. it makes 2 person I know having #1 as the first digit.

To start with #3 means Thai by birth who was born before 1985.

To start with #1 means Thai by birth who was born in 1985 and thereafter.

  8. I read some really interesting ones during the World Cup events. One country was referred to as Samba. Another was referred to as something like free sex or something... Rather nasty... But they don't think so.

    Samba (แซมบ้า) = Brazil

    Free sex = Sweden

    Co-nom (โคนม) = Denmark

    foy-thong (ฝอยทอง) = Portugal

Kra ting du (กระทิงดุ) = Spain

    jingjo (จิงโจ้) = Australia

kang han lom (กังหันลม) = Holland

na li ka (นาฬิกา) = Switzerland
