sabaijai replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Yes, an outcome in which one building in a city of 10+ million collapsed. -
The 'very potent sex drug' is sildenafil, widely known under its most famous brand Viagra. Sildenafil is legal in Thailand and is in fact produced here under a different brand name. Kamagra is a common brand imported from India. It's not officially registered for sale in Thailand so it's technically illegal.

Something that this forum doesnt understand about Trump
sabaijai replied to hotsun's topic in Political Soapbox
According to the most recent poll from what is widely considered the most reputable poll source, a majority of Americans do not approve of Trump's actions thus far. Personally I could care less either way, but I call bs when I see it. https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-approval-rating-poll-tracker-march-18-2046375 -
Thailand Bars Alcohol Sales on Trains and at Hua Lamphong
sabaijai replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And the rapist/murderer was an SRT employee, not a passenger. He had been drinking heavily - this is the first I've heard that drugs were involved - but he wasn't consuming alcohol sold on the train but rather his own. -

It's not a new requirement. If you look through the extension of stay application forms it's explicitly mentioned. I renew my stay permit and work permit each year for the last 15 years at One Stop in Chamchuri Square. Some years, officers there ask for my current Thai tax receipt/clearance, and some years they don't. I always bring one in case.

Not anymore. They also did away with it at land crossings, not too long ago. -

Belgian Man Rescued from Locked Car After Fan Drains Battery
sabaijai replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News

Thanks. My friend also has free online access. I'm thinking I need to visit the central Silom branch and see if there has been some kind of error, even though it was explained to me at great length that this was a new policy enacted on 27 May. I'm the only SSA-receiver I know who has had this happen so maybe there's been some kind of mixup.

Bangkok Bank has locked the savings account through which I received monthly SSA payments via direct deposit from Bangkok Bank New York. I went down to talk to my local bank branch manager and she said I can still make withdrawals or transfers from the account in person, but that online transfers visa website or phone app, as well as ATM withdrawals, were forbidden as of May 27 this year. She called the central office in Silom at my request, and the staff person she spoke with there confirmed that's the way it is from now on. I have a friend in Bangkok who also takes SSA direct deposit from BKK Bank New York, but his account hasn't been locked. I don't mind going in person every month, but it means that whenever I travel out of Thailand, I can't access the money online or at ATMs, which makes it difficult for maintaining travel expenses. Anyone else here faced this issue? I've searched the forums to see if there's already a thread on this but haven't found anything.

Thailand mulls allowing foreigners to buy 75% of condo units
sabaijai replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes. This is akin to Thaksin's sale of ShinCorp after he changed the law to remove capital gains tax on such sales.
