"It's particularly inappropriate to politicize an event like this ... entirely premature to be discussing about legislative solutions, if any," McConnell said.

No, it's perfectly normal to wonder why events like this happen so often, and discuss whether the rampant availability of automatic weapons has anything to do with that.  Shouting down those who do so in the interests of your own agenda is politicizing it.

So nobody use a fully automatic coffee machine here apart from nespresso ?

We have a Saeco, which is a Philips brand, automatic machine in our Bangkok office pantry.  It's had heavy daily use for at least 3 years now and never gone wrong.  I like that I can stagger into work in the morning, put a cup under the outlet, press one button, and it grinds, brews, and dispenses quicker than I could make an instant coffee.  The water tank is automatically kept topped up from the filtered  supply.  Just (have the maid) pour a bag of beans into it when it runs low, and empty the drips tray and grinds box when the display tells you to.

    "Trump slams Facebook"

of course he did, he is a Twitter guy

And it has the dirty "book" word, which is a big no no for Trump.  Call it FaceComic and he'd be all over it like a fat kid on a cup cake.  If some one came up with TwoFaceTwitSpace they'd make a fortune off of him.

An interesting bit of info but just to discuss further, So when the explorers went and found the pacific Islands were there pigs already on the islands? I find that hard to believe that pigs were on the islands, unless the missionaries took the pigs themselves, cooked them up and then the locals said "nah, people taste much better" and are much easier to come by, - as pigs don't sail ships.

That's a good question.  The settling of the South Pacific was comparatively recent, and spread out over a number of migrations.  It looks like the first wave brought pigs with them in their canoes, and evidence suggests that, although the people came from Taiwan, the pigs came from Vietnamese stock.

"Pigs made a harrowing journey about 3,500 years ago to the most remote islands of the Pacific alongside their ancient human owners, and that partnership is revealing how the region was colonized".

Therefore the inhabitants were already eating pigs, and each other, before the first western explorers arrived.

    Chicken, maybe.

Funny peculiar that cannibals don't get asked that question more often.

    Pork, apparently.

"Long pig is an antiquated term for human flesh, eaten by cannibals. Purportedly, the term long pig is a translation of a phrase used in the Pacific Islands for human flesh intended for consumption. Early explorers and missionaries who contacted cannibal Pacific Islanders were told that human flesh tasted similar to pork, thus the term long pig".

In "The happy isles of Oceania", Paul Theoroux came to the conclusion that former cannibals of Oceania now feasted on Spam because Spam came the nearest to approximating the porky taste of human flesh.

Trump on delivering aid to Puerto Rico: "This is an island sitting in the middle of an ocean. It’s a big ocean, it’s a very big ocean." pic.twitter.com/d3zkbKmQxr

Wait till next week, the great self-contradictator will be saying "it's a tiny ocean, a very tiny ocean. We have bigger oceans than that in our bathroom.  It's bigger than Hillary's ocean of course, but still tiny".

"President Donald Trump told Texans bailing themselves out from Hurricane Harvey's floods that the storm, which caused the most extreme rainstorm on record, was an unprecedented event.  And when Hurricane Irma ramped up to a Category 5 monster in the Atlantic, Trump tweeted that the storm "Looks like the largest ever recorded in the Atlantic!" ...

... Yet when a reporter asked Trump on Thursday whether the two hurricanes, which were aided by warming ocean and air temperatures, as well as added moisture in the air, have caused him to reevaluate his views on climate change, Trump directly contradicted himself...

... "Well, we've had bigger storms than this," Trump said while on board Air Force One en route to Washington, after viewing the damage from Hurricane Irma, which hit the Florida Keys as a Category 4 storm, in southwest Florida. "And if you go back into the 1930s and the 1940s, and you take a look, we've had storms over the years that have been bigger than this," he said."

There are a group on the net convinced that the atomic elements on the craft are of such weight that under the atmospheric pressure they will all crunch together, reach critical mass and cause a fusion reaction that ignites the atmosphere and turns Saturn into another Sun !!. Seriously! The truth is out there somewhere Scully. Google is your friend, or in this case your worst tin foil hat wearing enemy!! There is loads of stuff on this. Get your popcorn and sun glasses.

That doesn't matter.  Any day now the Earth will be sucked into the black hole that the Large Hadron Collider will surely create.  If only we could go back and stop those cave men from banging rocks together.  Nip the spirit of experimentation in the bud.

Three sources confirm Donald Trump’s Pee Pee Tape

"Paul Wood recently wrote in a major British publication, The Spectator, that he also heard about the blackmail material from “two sources months before the Steele dossier came to light” (link), this means we’re looking at three sources confirming the Pee Pee Tape."

"Steele is not yet known to have testified for U.S. investigators looking into the Trump-Russia scandal."

"But it has been confirmed that he recently turned over all of his sources to investigators."

And when asked the difference between a lentil and a chick pea, Trump replied that he wouldn't pay to have a lentil on his face.

  9. There is a restaurant down the other end of Soi Kola that is often frequented by local MPs (or ex-MPs these days) of all political persuasions, and high ranking army officers.  I doubt if the well connected owners, or their "Hi-So" customers, want a foreign turf war on their doorstep.  These people definitely have the power make this problem "disappear", and are a very good reason for the army to get involved.

  10. What if it wasn't a biker gang?  What if someone had an issue with a bar owner, rounded up his mates, came back and beat up the owner?  Would there still be the same arguing over whether what these guys did was right or wrong?  It's wrong.  No matter if it was a group of bikers, a group of football fans, a group of nationalists or a group of clergymen, it's wrong.  It doesn't matter one bit if other members of the gang, or other gangs, do charity work, help old ladies across the street,  pick up litter or go around handing out money to everyone.  What these guys did was wrong.
