  1. Or think outside the mainstream.  I saw one of these last week and looked it up.  I don't have a clue about build or ride quality, and the looks are quirky, but the on board kit is impressive:

GALLERY: MG GS SUV makes debut at Bangkok 2016 Image #466457

"The kit list is generous, and standard equipment includes LED DRLs and tail lamps, cruise control, automatic air con with rear air vents, keyless entry with push-start ignition, electronic parking brake, six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and 18-inch two-tone alloys wrapped with 235/50 series tyres.

The GS also features an eight-speaker entertainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen, navigation and 16GB of built-in storage. There’s also an InkaNet app that displays a variety of information and status of the GS on owners’ smartphones. The range topping AWD adds on extra bits such as HID headlamps with washers, steering wheel paddle shifters and a four-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, plus roof rails and an electric sunroof

    ...

As for safety equipment, the GS comes with front and side airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control as well as traction control. Also in are Isofix mounts and a hill-start assist system. The GS is priced at 1.21 million baht (RM138,317) for the 2WD and 1.31 million baht (RM149,748) for the AWD"

  2. My daughter called me to say that she had to drive her small front wheel drive car along some flooded roads in town the other day.  She said it was for a few hundred metres and the water was about half way up the wheels. Everything seemed okay, but this morning there was a pool of thick brown "hydraulic" oil, not engine oil, as she described it, below the engine bay, and more was dripping out quite fast.  She doesn't want to drive the car to a mechanic in case of further damage, and wants me to look at it (more likely, pay for it) before doing anything, but is up country and I can't go and take a look for myself for another week.  By the way she described the oil, it sounds like diff fluid, but I'm not sure why floodwater would cause it to be okay while driving home and parked for a day, and then suddenly start leaking like she says it is.  Unless she hit something on the underside, which she says she didn't.  Has anyone got any ideas as to what it could be, so I have some forewarning of just how bad things are?  Thanks in advance.

  3. No mention of nationality but i would not be shocked if he was a Muslim they love spreading their religion of peace.

No mention of nationality but i would not be shocked if he was a Christian they love spreading their religion of peace.

excellent, but probably beyond the grasp of many drunken cro-magnins.

...........who at the least, can spell Cro-Magnons.

    Or, given the thread, Pro-Magnums

  4. I watched the video and, assuming it was unedited, it appeared as though he was proceeding past the guard box when he was rushed by the guard.

It seems to me that some kind of "check-in" procedure with the guard was required in order to enter. Otherwise why station a guard at the door? Perhaps the man forgot or didn't know the procedure or was distracted.

Also, why did the man continue to try to get through the door after being assaulted by the guard?

If a "check-in" procedure was required then how could the guard be faulted for his rapid response? Also, why wouldn't such a guarded door have an electronic lock that could be activated only by the guard?

I know, I know. It's Russia (and I ask too many questions)!

You mean, give the key to the US embassy to a Russian policeman? Good idea. What could possibly go wrong?

  5. The bed was found guilty but it did not confess since it was empty.

The mirror is, however, taking time to reflect, prior to making a decision.

While another witness was taken away and given a blanket amnesty. A police spokesman said "We're also looking into a stain on the sheet's character, and we certainly have a case for the pillows. And, as for the mattress' role? Well, it's been sprung, and now it's stuffed! The sing song has sung, and it's off to Sing Sing."

  6. Seems I'm in the minority. He's a scumbag, worse than any of the immigrants he's vilified. We are known for standing our ground and fixing problems, not pulling up the drawbridge and hiding in our now, very little corner of the world. I am rather ashamed to be English.

I am also ashamed that you are English.

This man has done his job - a constant battler against the EU gravy train.

His job in the UK is done, he will continue as an MEP until we are out.

And I'm just as ashamed of you for riding the bandwagon. I was a soldier and we fought the enemy, we didn't run away from them. Touche.

History proves you wrong. As in the last great Brexit from Europe, why not sign Article 50 on the beach at Dunkirk and then sail back to blighty in a fleet of small boats. That'll show them.

  7. Well, I have been thinking about how much longer will I stay here. I like many things here but the reality is that there are other countries with decent weather that I can probably work from and have a much easier time of it.

It appears to be getting more violent, less friendly and despite the ruling parties promises even more corrupt.

So, the day I have to provide very personal information (including my bank account details) in order to get my visa renewed or 90 reporting done is the day they will make the decision for me to remove myself from this place.

We all jump through hoops to protect our bank account details when using an online business with secure protection, who in their right mind would trust that this information will be secure, written on a piece of paper floating around an immigration office in Thailand...? Absolutely no way would I do this.

Don't know of any other country doing this kind of ridiculous thing.

Anyone using the retirement or marriage extension is already providing the details of at least one bank account to them every year. While those on a work permit previously didn't have to, it's not too hard to open a petty cash account and enter the details of that. I was sent this form by my company's immigration agents and asked to fill it in a couple of months ago. It's not too hard to honestly do so without "incriminating" yourself. eg, for places often visited: Central World, Social media: LinkedIn, etc. Just no need to tell them everything. If you're a member of the "I love democracy, down with all juntas, and death to generals" forum, for instance, it's probably a good idea to leave that out. Some of it would even be quite useful, such as the emergency contacts section, but, unless they have a bunch of interns entering all of them into a database, no doubt the documents will be stacked in boxes in a warehouse somewhere and never looked at.

  8. So several different agencies and personal are all idiots, not just one. Well done Govt.

    They sure are:

"Bolton's device, the GT200, was also backed by British embassies in Mexico City and Manila, through the then Department of Trade and Industry".

"In fact, earlier this year, the device surfaced in Egypt with claims from the Egyptian military that it could detect hepatitis and HIV.

And the bogus detectors are still in use at checkpoints across Baghdad. They were also deployed at a recent security conference in Djibouti and, just this week, the BBC filmed them in use at a shopping mall in Pakistan".

    Well done British Govt.

  9. Listen France, and everybody else for that matter, just wait for the World Cup in Russia and we will even the score, Big Time !

They will be banned from all sports including the Olympics because they have been drugging their athletes for decades.

    Go cry in your vodka
