  1. We are about to install a new above ground water tank due to endless problems with our below ground tank. I had expected to have a concrete base poured but my wife just received a picture from a friend of what looks like plastic shipping pallets that are supposedly used as bases for water tanks. I have never seen such a thing so was wondering if anyone has had experience with such a base. The size is 120 cm square. If these bases make sense would shops that sell tanks have them? Any idea on price? I have searched to no avail.
  2. Amaranth Suvarnabhumi Hotel. About 15 minutes from the airport. Same day so 10.5 hours total time. It was 6900 Baht for the entire test and go package,.
  3. Arrived just before midnight Friday 19th. Flew LAS-SFO-NRT-BKK on UAL/ANA. Had to show Thailand Pass, visa, and COVID docs at all three departure airports. At NRT they asked for even more documents including my checked baggage stickers. At BKK arrival the test and go hotel tried to pack 3 of us in one van. I asked nicely for a separate ride and someone from AOT graciously volunteered to drive me in an AOT vehicle. First thing at the hotel was an ID check and swab test. Then check-in was a bit tedious. They wanted my seat numbers on all of my flights. Was told I could not leave the room until test results were in. They had no room service until 6 AM and the refrigerator in the room was not stocked. There were two complimentary liter bottles of water. Test results were ready at 11:00 AM. On checkout they gave me a self administering COVID antigen test kit and wrote the date 26-Nov-2021 on the box saying to email the results to the hotel on that date. Note that on arrival at BKK the only document checking at the airport was by immigration. They couldn't figure whether or not to staple the printout of my Non-O eVisa in my passport. He ended up just handing it back to me. All COVID document checking was done at the test and go hotel. Arrived at the hotel at 1:00 AM and departed at 11:30 AM.
  4. As I reported before my wife paid 2054 Baht for both shots. Here's the screenshot from the app.
  5. Retirement extension expired, arriving on new Non-O visa. Staying one night in a test and go hotel in Bangkok. Same question, is a TM30 required when I return to our home in Chiang Mai?
  6. Not sure if this will help many people. If you have ImageMagick installed on your system it is easy to convert PDFs to JPGs and to concatenate JPGs. Command examples: % convert Luma-Insurance.pdf Luma-Insurance.jpg % convert Luma-Insurance-0.jpg Luma-Insurance-1.jpg Luma-Insurance-2.jpg -append Luma-Insurance.jpg The first command converted my 5 page insurance PDF to 5 separate JPG files. The second command concatenated the first 3 JPG files into a single JPG file. On later versions the "magick" command replaces the command "convert".
  7. I've used McCormick annually for many years for health checks and the price is less than 5000 Baht for extensive tests. It's always an easy process. The nice thing is that my doctor there actually responds to email. When I first moved to Chiang Mai I lived a few blocks away from McCormick but since I like the hospital I have kept going there even though I no longer live anywhere near it.
  8. My wife had two Sinopharm jabs at Lanna Hospital. The app is in Thai so the only thing I can make out is that the cost was 2054 Baht. My daughter set it up for her and I'll ask her about it when I see her next but that will be a few days as I will be in transit to Thailand in less than 24 hours.
  9. I am using worksitelabs.com. They have a number of sites in the US and some at airports like SFO. Their cheapest test is $90 for 24 hour turnaround for the results. They have a couple of higher prices for quicker turnaround.
  10. EVA was always my first choice especially after they started direct flights from TPE to CNX. ANA is my second choice so I will be flying them SFO to BKK (Codeshare UAL) next week.
  11. That would be nice to get tested right after reaching the hotel. My flight arrives just after midnight so I will getting to my hotel around 2 AM. I had just assumed that I would not be tested until 8 or 9 AM. Getting results before noon would be great so I can get on a flight to CNX. Anyone have experience with the Amaranth Suvarnabhumi Hotel?
  12. Update on my TP application. Received my approval and QR code this morning Nov 10, approximately 7 working days after submission.
  13. Submitted TP application using CDC card Nov 1 with 3 Pfizer shots. Uploaded card 3 times in places for doses 1, 2, and 3. Received email Nov 2 confirming my registration. Have not received anything since then. My flight leaves Nov 18 and arrives Nov 20.
  14. A bunch of hotels were designated as SHA hotels in Chiang Mai but I gave up waiting for an international flight to CNX. I just booked a flight to BKK and will do a Test and Go in a hotel near Suvarnabhumi and take the next available flight to CNX.
  15. I booked my Bangkok Test and Go hotel directly as I wasn't about to set up a Line account just for this booking. After getting a confirmation from them I sent the required documents. Then they sent me the so-called Test and Go certificate marked paid in red at the top.
  16. Good to know. I still have some time so I will wait until someone who submitted CDC cards reports immediate approval with the correct arrival date.
  17. I suspect that people that got immediate approval had vaccine certs with QR codes. Did anyone without QR codes get immediate approval? How about with the CDC cards from the US?
  18. Some SHA+ hotels in Bangkok allow 6 PM check out for test and go guests.
  19. My SHA+ hotel in Bangkok for one night test and go has asked for copies of a bunch of documents 72 hours prior to check in except the PCR test results which can be sent 24 hours before arrival. AQ form (supplied by them) Vaccine certificate Passport Flight itinerary Visa (if using) Health insurance COE or Thailand Pass PCR test results prior to flying Not sure why they need all of this but they claim it is due to Thai government regulations for SHA+. I will just make a large PDF for them with all of the docs, reduce the size and encrypt it and then email it. Later I'll just send the password out of band and hope they eventually lose it. It will also be locked from printing.
  20. Finally got my registration confirmation by email around 24 hours after submitting the application: Thailand Pass system has received your registration. The result of your registration will be sent to this email within 7 working days. * This email is automatically generated. Please do not reply. *
  21. So many posts on this topic now that I may have missed this. Has anyone who successfully submitted their application and did not receive an email confirmation but subsequently received the email approval with the QR?
  22. No luck at all on MacBook Pro running latest Mojave. Safari and Firefox do nothing when clicking "Next" on Vaccination page after uploading CDC vaccine card. When opening the page in Opera I get: Opera has recovered from a crash. Chrome either hangs or says it cannot load the page. Anyone able to successfully register using a mac? Ive been trying both https://tp.consular.go.th/en/registration and https://tp.consular.go.th
  23. I can't get past the Vaccination page. I was able to upload my CDC vaccine card after reducing the jpeg size but after I check the box at the bottom of the page and hit next then nothing happens, no error, nothing. I tried uploading the vaccine card for the QR but still nothing happens when I hit next. I'm using Safari on the latest Mojave. Has anyone got better results with another browser on macOS? The check boxes are very faint. Is there more than the one at the bottom of the page?
  24. My friends, a US couple in their late 60's, are planning on visiting me in the new year. They have Medicare so they will not have medical insurance coverage while in Thailand. I've done a bit of research for them but am at a loss to find exactly what they are looking for. First, they are not interested in the non-medical travel insurance coverage like lost luggage, trip cancellation, etc. but if left with no choice they will accept it. Second, they are looking for more than emergency medical insurance, more like full medical coverage while they are here. As far as pre-conditions both are type 2 diabetic but otherwise in good health. They expect to come on a 60 day tourist visa and may extend another 30 days, so they may need up to 90 day coverage. It would be a bonus if it included the required COVID coverage but they can always buy a separate Thai policy for that. I have searched for short term international health insurance as this seems more like what they need. However, most of the search results seem to actually be travel insurance. As real international health insurance may require a minimum term of one year I was wondering if one could cancel such a policy after 3 months. In any case my friends are less concerned with the cost of the policy than with the extent of the medical coverage. Is anyone aware of any insurance like this? How about non-US based international health policies like European policies that accept US citizen policy holders? I am assuming no decent Thai policies are available. Is this correct?
  25. It's possible that this should have been posted in the Chiang Mai forum but this forum seems to have more general posts of this nature. In the new sandboxes (Thaliand Pass?) is it a requirement that the flight arriving into the sandbox is an international flight? I've been trying to book a flight to CNX from the US and none of the airlines I've tried (Star Alliance mostly) have CNX available as a destination. In the Phuket sandbox it seemed like arrival on an international flight was required. Is this still the case on the new sandboxes opening on November 1st? I can book a flight to BKK and then a domestic flight to CNX but have not seen anywhere whether this would be allowed by the sandbox rules or not. It would be nice to get my flights booked as soon as possible. I do try to keep up but haven't noticed anything that addresses this specifically. Does anyone have any insight on this? Or a pointer to specific requirements? Thanks in advance.
