Right now Thailand is worse off than when he was here, but only because the last few years Thailand has had to endure all kinds of political 'noise' surrounding him, including several major protests, with the last one being very disruptive to the country and her economy. This comes from both sides, Red and Yellow.

I think, if these political uprisings had not had happened and Thailand could concentrate on her future instead of her past, Thailand would be better off now.

Anybody who calls for the red shirt criminals to do jail time without calling for the yellow shirts criminals to do time, or vice versa, only shows what gang they belong to.

Thailand will break apart if Sondhi and Thaksin are not BOTH in jail before the next elections. There is quite simple ways to make that happen.

Tuk Tuk is a national treasure, nation symbol, national icon, nation pride, and unique to Thailand.

An farang came, and want to take away tuk tuk, and turn everything to the world's standard meter taxi.

Isn't Tuk Tuk is what farang comes to see in Amazing Thailand?

Tuk tuks are not unique to Thailand, and what foreigner in their right mind wants to sit in one of those dirty, uncomfortable and dangerous bits of scrap metal!

It's also not the main reason people come to thailand. Depending on your demographic that can range from White sand beaches to cheap alcohol (and women) - i bet if you stood at the airport and asked the question of every tourist who arrives in Thailand, you would get a very very low percentage of people who come here for the Tuk Tuk's

Last option, can you try to get a bank account opened here, some banks/branches don't require a work permit to open an account, might be worth trying a few of the banks and seeing if you can get an account opened.

Maybe its time for the Phuket residents to make a stand against the Tuk Tuk Mafia, after all these guys are now causing damage to your home, your livelihoods and the prosperity of your island. I lived on Phuket for 5 years, i wouldnt use the Tuk Tuk's unless absolutely necessary, they are greedy, nasty little bar-stewards and should be removed from the Island

The Government did state at the begining of the protests that any Foriegners involved would be deported. I call that fair warning. However, what these guys did was more than participation. The Irish guy incited rebelion and the English guy carried an offensive weapon and threatened looting and arson. As already seen, those Thais charged with breaking the emergency decree were charged and found guilty, but given a reduced sentence for a guilty plee. Perhaps these guys should take note and show some remorse and take responsability for their actions as well.

Actually, the Government did say that any Foreigner who got involved in the political rally would face upto 5 years in Prison followed by deportation, So if these guys get anything less than that (like the 2 years being quoted) they are getting off lightly. At the end of the day they will be sentenced, do only part of their time then get deported with the red stamp.

One of the guys was here illegally (no visa) anyway, how stupid do you have to be? Here illegally and then get openly involved in illegal activity? The guy was asking to get royally screwed...

I know my friend has reported seeing the Desire for sale in real shops (Department Stores etc) - the kind of places you wouldn't get Grey Imports.

Id give www.bask1.com a shot however, a few people have ordered from there (myself included) and whilst one person did have a few issues with the delivery outside of Bangkok, it all worked out ok in the end. Plus the 'high street' price is 21,900 and Bask was selling theirs for 19,700 (plus delivery) - so will save you a few beer tokens

The official 'release' of Android 2.2 for the HTC Desire - i think the phone itself has been released here officially already

One thing i did - which seemed to improve the battery life quite a bit - was to lower the intervals where it checks for data (email clients, facebook, news, weather etc) - some were set to 15mins, i changed a lot of them to 1hr or 2hrs and had a nice increase in battery life.

Android 2.2 apparently supports Thai Script - that is due out for the HTC Desire this month (end of June) - so that removes the only real difference between an import and a thai version.

Depends on the night out - if i'm headed home around mid-night then around 2,000b If I'm planning something a bit larger... then anything up to 10,000b.

But i do have a rule when it comes to lady drinks - if you ask me for a drink, you ain't getting one. I was getting somewhat p*ssed off going into a bar, drinking 2 beers and getting asked for 4 or 5 lady drinks (and then getting a 700b+ bill). If i like a girl, shes good fun whatever, i will offer her a drink, if some hooker grabs me 2 mins after i've got my first beer and starts asking for a drink.. she usually goes away disappointed I get called cheap sometimes, but i don't give a rats ass... its my money

I've had all three consoles... the Wii, Xbox360 and PS3.

The Wii is great fun, but more of a 'kiddies' console in my opinion, the games with the motion sense controller can be a lot of fun - its worth considering the Wii if you just wanna play games with friends etc.

The Xbox 360 is also a great console, a good media extender and has good game support. Mine died with the RROD/Overheating problem and as i was primarily looking for a media streamer and not so much a gaming console, i went with the PS3 as it was cheaper and had more HD support than the Xbox 360 (True HD, Blue Ray player etc)

Its a difficult call really... Xbox vs PS3 as a lot of it is dependent on your own personal tastes and what you intend to use the console for primarily.

There are still a lot of Data Migration scripts running - we are converting *all* data for the last 8-9 years - this takes time and puts a lot of load on the database, please bear with us for a few days whilst we get all of this done and fix up the bugs/teething problems.
