  1. Theres no reason not to get an xbox 360 in Bangkok if your worried about the import duty, it will be a modded one (which has its own set of pros/cons) but should be fairly reasonable in price.

I'm half tempted to do a day trip to Singapore, flying over with Air Asia isnt that expensive and would make for a nice day out :)

  2. i have only ordered once from these guys, everything was fine with the delivery and service etc, but it did get stopped for customs, and i ended up paying something around 30% (it was a long time ago, i dont remember exactly)

  3. ^Nope, they can't do anything for broken fingers & i might not of mentioned before but i really hate doctors and hospitals. I like the nurses butt (pardon the pun).

Trust me, they can... they will reset it and then put a splint on it... many moons ago i broke a finger and they did that in the hospital...

  4. Lets keep the red/yellow talk out of it shall we?

Agreed, there are enough political threads out there for you guys to discuss politics, lets not derail this thread by bringing Reds, Yellows, Thaksin or Abhisit into it. Consider this a public warning

  5. if Thailand is better now than under his government.

Right now Thailand is worse off than when he was here, but only because the last few years Thailand has had to endure all kinds of political 'noise' surrounding him, including several major protests, with the last one being very disruptive to the country and her economy. This comes from both sides, Red and Yellow.

I think, if these political uprisings had not had happened and Thailand could concentrate on her future instead of her past, Thailand would be better off now.

  6. Yes very likely i will get one, i saw the pics and it looks totally cool!!!

I will also have to buy a new console, so im hoping to get one of the Xbox360 Slims - might do it at the same time. Bit worried about ordering it from Play-asia.com as i'm very likely to be stung by the customs charges... but will wait and see...

  7. Anybody who calls for the red shirt criminals to do jail time without calling for the yellow shirts criminals to do time, or vice versa, only shows what gang they belong to.

Thailand will break apart if Sondhi and Thaksin are not BOTH in jail before the next elections. There is quite simple ways to make that happen.

You must have missed this part...

Somkiat said Thaksin, the red-shirt people, the yellow-shirt people and black-shirt gunmen could not seek compromise with courts but they must defend themselves in court and accept the penalties handed down by judges.
  8. Tuk Tuk is a national treasure, nation symbol, national icon, nation pride, and unique to Thailand.

An farang came, and want to take away tuk tuk, and turn everything to the world's standard meter taxi.

Isn't Tuk Tuk is what farang comes to see in Amazing Thailand?

Tuk tuks are not unique to Thailand, and what foreigner in their right mind wants to sit in one of those dirty, uncomfortable and dangerous bits of scrap metal!

It's also not the main reason people come to thailand. Depending on your demographic that can range from White sand beaches to cheap alcohol (and women) - i bet if you stood at the airport and asked the question of every tourist who arrives in Thailand, you would get a very very low percentage of people who come here for the Tuk Tuk's ;)

  9. Get a trusted friend to help you - get the money transferred to their account and then get them to draw it from the ATM and give it to you.

Otherwise your buggered, you need Western Union etc.

Last option, can you try to get a bank account opened here, some banks/branches don't require a work permit to open an account, might be worth trying a few of the banks and seeing if you can get an account opened.

  10. Well I hope they don't....it's slow enough here without anymore bad things happening !

And by your comment I can see you only want the worst for Phuket....hope you don't live here,

if you do , you should move! Everyone here knows how terrible the TUK_TUK situation gets,

if it was your rice bowl that was affected by USN $$$ , maybe you'd see things clearer !

But the whole island benefits or loses with bad press , or even bad comments !

Maybe its time for the Phuket residents to make a stand against the Tuk Tuk Mafia, after all these guys are now causing damage to your home, your livelihoods and the prosperity of your island. I lived on Phuket for 5 years, i wouldnt use the Tuk Tuk's unless absolutely necessary, they are greedy, nasty little bar-stewards and should be removed from the Island

  11. The Government did state at the begining of the protests that any Foriegners involved would be deported. I call that fair warning. However, what these guys did was more than participation. The Irish guy incited rebelion and the English guy carried an offensive weapon and threatened looting and arson. As already seen, those Thais charged with breaking the emergency decree were charged and found guilty, but given a reduced sentence for a guilty plee. Perhaps these guys should take note and show some remorse and take responsability for their actions as well.

Actually, the Government did say that any Foreigner who got involved in the political rally would face upto 5 years in Prison followed by deportation, So if these guys get anything less than that (like the 2 years being quoted) they are getting off lightly. At the end of the day they will be sentenced, do only part of their time then get deported with the red stamp.

One of the guys was here illegally (no visa) anyway, how stupid do you have to be? Here illegally and then get openly involved in illegal activity? The guy was asking to get royally screwed...

  12. As has been stated above, if your not interested in this news, don't read it... either way posting here to moan and complain isn't a very constructive use of your time and doesn't add anything to the discussion (which other people might be interested in)

And be careful attacking George, you might find your stay here short lived :)

    Thanks :D

  13. If you came and did my washing up Ekk, i'd give you a kiss on the cheek :)

Doesnt work like that for friends Wolfie :D

Well you aint getting anything more than a kiss on the cheek! :D

  14. I live alone, so i change the bed myself, do my laundry myself (and have done for years) - however i draw the line at Ironing, I'd much prefer to pay someone to Iron my shirts! I guess that's a throw back from my chef'ing days, those chef whites are a biatch to Iron and my mum refused point blank to do them for me...

I used to clean my own place as well, but as i changed apartments and got bigger places, i just couldn't be arsed in the end, so i now employ a maid to come clean once a week, im not a dirty person (well not in *that* way) and generally clean up after myself as i go along, so really my maid just has to do my ironing, sweep and mop the floors and give everything a wipe down.
