  1. The Yellows were a major inconvenience and cost many of us a lot of us business and money with their airport stand-in, but they never resorted to violence of the type we saw perpetrated by the Reds last Songkran.

Actually they did - i dont remember which thread it was but someone posted a link to a YouTube video that showed some pretty horrific stuff that happened during the Yellow Shirt Protests, small arms (hand guns) - beating people - setting fire to cars/motorbikes - all nasty stuff!

I agree with your other point tho - Anti-Red does not mean Pro-Yellow

  2. The reds, I presume.

    That goes without saying...

We will never know who it was, all this speculation is purely for our own entertainment...

However, saying that, i suspect its this Sae Dang fella is involved, The Reds recently disassociated themselves from him, freeing him up to wage the war he wants without disrupting the Reds 'Peaceful' protests. If i were Chief of Police, him and his cronies would certainly be high on my list of suspects...

  3. Light beer - oops I mean Wolfie, just give your local Motorbike taxi guy 100 baht to go pick up the beer mate.

Exactly. There has to be the typical little shop full 'o alcohol, smokes and snacks ( and hardware items ) run by a Burmese on your soi...

Get the phone number and call, I'm sure they will deliver almost anything your heart desires..I said almost.

Even out here in the middle of nowwhere I can pick up the phone and presto, within a period of 10 minutes the guy with the load bearing motorcycle ( 4 wheeler ) is in front of my door with my scoobie snacks, beer, coke/pepsi,ice, gas, som tom, etc.

Yeah not a worry, i just used Villa delivery service in the end :) I dont have a 'Mom n Pop' store on my soi, just a 7/11 - no biggie :D

  4. Great the Thai economy hasn't lost enough money in this latest round of the "hilbillies visiting town". Next time the relatives ask for money I tell them to call on Thaksin as mybusiness has lost over a 100.000 baht already and I cannot afford to sponsor supporters of the person whom is negatively affecting my income.

Maybe time to vent my anger on the nearest redshirt I encounter.

    W

Denigrating "class" comments and attitudes like this are one of the reasons they are participating in non-violent protest.

It's a pity that ThaiVisa tolerates this kind of insulting talk, but it seems anything can be said about the Red Shirts, including veiled threats of violence directed toward them. :)

Didn't the Reds just announce a 'class' war? It would seem that WAERTH has already declared which side he is on...

But WISteve does make a good point - lets keep the insults (Red, Yellow, Green Brown or Blue) out of it - thanks!

  5. Get yourself a Full HD (1080) model - you will not regret it in the end.

Whilst UBC etc isnt HD yet, it will be at some point, plus if you download stuff its easy to get the HD version nowadays

I saw a 50" Plasma for sale in Power Buy for around 40k and a similar size LCD for around 50k, both Full HD

  6. Thanks for the Replies, i looked at ChefsXP (and food by phone) - but im not prepared to pay 1,000b for a case of beer (24 cans/bottles) when i know the supermarket price is approx 800b a case (or less)

I checked the Villa online store, seems they only have the specialty imported beers on the site and not your standard Heiny etc :)

There is a Villa Market not too far from my place, i know i can just go there, buy what i want and ask them to deliver... which is my 'Plan B' - i was just hoping there was an online ordering system for this.

  7. I am looking for an online based grocery service to deliver to my place in Bangkok.

Primarily its for a beer order (3 cases) but if the service is reliable and not overly expensive i would use it in the future for other grocery shopping.

Does anyone know of a website that can allow me to order, pay online and arrange delivery?

I looked at places like FoodByPhone and ChefsXP - but the prices are coming out several hundred baht (per case) more than the typical super market prices due to the fact you have to order by the bottle and the prices are (slightly) marked up anyway - so its not cost effective to order from them. I know places like Villa/Tops will arrange delivery if i go to the store and buy the goods there - but what i am looking for is a total online solution.

Does it exist in Bangkok? Anyone know anywhere?

  8. Of course this is again a very sloppy translation of what he really said. We all know however that abhisit is not at all in charge. He is just the concierge or the bellboy. The real man in charge is Suthep. Given the fact that Suthep, the yellow shirts and their leaders have compared Thaksin numerous times with Hitler and how Hitler came to power there should be a little bit more evenhanded comments.

At least Thaksin came to power legitimate, the abhisit government came to power because of the army and people close to the highest circles.

Suthep orates about how he will easily win the elections but he does not take action, knowing that he is in power and taking lots of commissions without the support of at least 60% of the Thai population. Thaksin at least dared to call for new elections during the height of the yellow shirt demonstrations.

The reason Suthep did not take part was because he knew just like now that he would lose again. Suthep is a dictator, Thaksin is not.

The homosexual comment is taken fully out of context. But who cares? Someone writes something down in a forum and everybody takes it for the truth.

You actually believe what you have written, dont you?
