  1. I remember the good old days. Sitting in the staff canteen, down the pub or just round mates' houses, talking about personal experiences and sharing thoughts. No one ever asked for links or categorical proof. They were experiences and accepted as that. Help and guidance, knowledge and information for future use gained, acknowledged and thanked for. It's not difficult to ascertain who amongst us would have been sitting in the corner having been black balled for being cantankerous. It's a sad state of affairs when those in the mix of things are ignored because of what has been in the media, politically motivated most of time. Never mind.
  2. I think you'll find they left after the referendum but prior to Brexit. Those that sat it out soon realised the settlement scheme was quite straight forward.
  3. Yes. I know. You are one of the two I mentioned above.
  4. I believe your original posts regardingvthe UK economy were regarding UK post brexit. In that case, Brexit has not affected the value of the pound.
  5. My experiences are of EU nationals working in UK after Brexit. You appear to have attempted to nullify my experiences by using those of Brits and EU nationals in Belgium during Brexit negotiations. Strange.
  6. Because most people would accept personal experiences as truth and not make accusations suggesting otherwise. Only you and one other poster have a problem with my experiences. The rest of the posters are happy to accept them.
  7. Singularly? With no other outside factors? Difficult to say. I agree that sterling was affected on the announcement of the result of the referendum. That was down to speculation as the UK had not left at that point. Therefore Brexit cannot be blamed. As for the labour market. I have worked jobs with high levels of workers from EU. Most of them are still working in UK. In turn, when I asked them how difficult it was for them to stay after Brexit they replied it was not difficult at all, providing they had proof of salary, tax payments and NI payments. etc. Those that left the UK after Brexit obviously couldn't show the required documentation. I would say that was a good thing to come out of Brexit.
  8. Surely you found out on your last trip.
  9. Are you accusing me of being a Brexiteer? If you read my post I said both negatives and positives of Brexit are difficult to quantify because of other issues. Didn't Covid affect government spending? Didn't Covid decrease taxation collected by the government? Didn't Covid affect output and production? Didn't Covid affect imports and exports? Hasn't the war in Ukraine affected imports? Hasn't the war in Ukraine affected oil prices, gas prices and the price of heating homes?
  10. I've never even suggested the government will get off the hook. I believe a general election is a good idea. A general election has been mentioned before on this thread. At that point, Labour become part of the conversation. Why else would any one call for one if it were not for a change? With Parliament as it stands, that change can only be a Labour government.
  11. Nothing about the cost of Covid19 or the war in Ukraine??? As I pointed out, we will not know the drawbacks or benefits of Brexit until the economy is back to pre Covid and pre war levels. Then we can talk.
  12. You may wish to see my reply to Placeholder. You could give him a hand collating the data. I look forward to seeing that.
  13. To know the full answer to that one would have to take into account the levels of financial help each nation's government gave to their public. You would also need to check the levels of help given to Ukraine in defence aids and that given to Ukrainian refugees. You would also need ti show the figures of other economically developed nations, whilst at the same time defining what nations are economically developed. I look forward to seeing that.
  14. Oh dear. At least the question mark has left you with some credibility.
  15. Really? How do you know? You say "longer term" but then use "is". Are you making a prediction or is your longer-term now? Do you really think Brexit has even had the time to be gauged with the other distractions that gave occurred since it happened? In order to suggest Brexit is going to mean UK lagging behind the EU, we first have to get the economy, growth, inflation and currency levels back to pre Covid19 levels and get the war in Ukraine stopped. Then, with Brexit the only factor, we can see what happens.
  16. It would also be put at risk if a Labour government levied windfall taxes on the oil companies, caved in to the trade unions asking for huge pay rises and, therefore, couldn't handle inflation so in turn would raise benefits in line with inflation.
  17. You are correct. Then again, only the recent mini budget can be blamed on the government. Covid19 is the biggest blame followed by the war in Ukraine. How Labour would have handled things we'll never know. What are their ideas for the future? We don't know either. As usual with any opposition parties they belittle all government moves without offering alternatives. If an idea is ever put forward there are no figures. I do believe it us time for a general election. However, other than planning a windfall tax on oil companies, which would damage investment and a plethora of pension schemes, and caving in to the trade unions asking for 10%+ pay rises, thus fueling inflation, it will be the same. Every government can only give so much. Someone is always going to moan. Until people realise the damage Covid19 did to the world economy and just sit tight and wait for things to climb back, instead if believing everything will magic itself back to normal, the better. That includes politicians. In fact, Jeremy Hunt's first couple of days in No.11 have seen him basically say that.
  18. Hardly a charity. Funded by Christians in USA. @notrub 90kms north of Buriram is pretty much out in the sticks. I guess you are in the region of Puttisong or Nong Song Hong. My advice would be to give them to a local school. One of the smaller village schools. This is where poverty lies and where the people would be appreciative of a little help. Most of the kids will be running around with no shoes on and not do clean, very worn school clothes. By giving directly to those in need you also know that the clothes will end up where they should. There will be lots of schools like this in your area. You could even split the booty between a few.

    Circumcision

    Neither was your last comment.
  20. Surely you checked that out on your recent trip around Isaan.
  21. Are you on marriage extension or retirement. The reason I ask is that marriage extensions are not agreed at local level. They have to be sent to regional HQ. If you are on a marriage extension it would appear your agent did 1 of 2 things. They either got the required paperwork for you or went to the immigration office and offered a direct bribe for immigration to forget about the extra documents required. If the latter, the documents required were invented by the IO. You could easily have questioned them about it and " offered" to call the help line to confirm requirements.
  22. If the OP has enough money to buy a van, tax it, insure it, run a smart phone, etc he should not be worrying about being homeless.
  23. It only takes 5 minutes. Also, you know exactly what's in it.
  24. Thank you gor finally realising your precious links are not cast in stone figures. I have never said the averages published were wrong. I've never said people aren't struggling. What I did say was, with those published figures and the figures of our usage, I believe some households naybe use too much energy or even waste energy. If we are way below average, there must be some considerably above average. Simple mathematics. It was you who posted " I wonder who we should believe" Now that you have defended the averages published, I can only conclude you didnt believe what I posted. Now that I have proved I was telling the truth, you owe me an apology.
