  1. I had to laugh. The leader of LibDems talking about how the Government "played" with the UK economy with unfunded tax cuts. Then he goes on to say he would give struggling households £300 A MONTH to help with mortgage payments. Thank the lord he has no chance of becoming PM.
  2. For me, as some one who does not overstretch my budget, does not buy unless I can afford, understands that interest rates must rise at some point and plans for the future, interest rate rises mean I'll get more on my savings. It makes me laugh when the whingers that got into a mess by over spending want the government to do exactly the same to help them out.
  3. Totally disagree. There are many great kindergardens around for lot less. As I previously said, my daughter attended one for 3k a term. It was a state run kindergarden. They start at 3 years old. Great school.
  4. So long as the temperature of the thawed food did not exceed +4 degrees, it's OK to re freeze. If it was still cold to touch but you are unsure of temperature, cook it and have a party.
  5. School teachers write their own tests. There is not a national test until P3. Don't fall into the Thai trap of teaching your kid to pass a test. Bring them up speaking English everyday, reading and writing often too. Also, be prepared for your kid to never get full marks in the English test. Some questions, they are all multiple choice, will have no correct answer and some will have more than one correct answer. Mainly due to the teachers ability in English.
  6. I don’t understand you differentiating between Public and Thai. You say local school. That could mean anything from local village school to largest school in town, depending where you live. My daughter attended Anuban Buriram. Most if not all main towns will have a school named Anuban + Town/District name. They are government schools and all teach the same curriculum. Great schools too. In 9 years my daughter was there, kindergarten to P6, I only ever had one cause to complain. Fees were in the region of 3k per term. General study was free. Payments for computers, learning with foreign teacher, food and insurance. Sounds like you are sending your kid to a private school (public in England). As one other poster commented, often in Thailand paying high fees doesn't mean better school.
  7. Have you been to the place I recommended?. I have. That's why I recommended it.
  8. He didn't say he'd worked. "True, only signed contract and then headaches" Problems before he started work.
  9. I do hope you are not jumping on the "all the good doctors, dentists, medical professionals are in Bangkok" bandwagon.
  10. That's it right there. Game over. Your contract quite probably states you must attend during holiday, at least dign in in thr morning. If so, you broke the contract.
  11. If you have a good case, contract and sll the correct paperwork Department of Labour will help. I've seen it many times. If the local department decide not VTO help obe should refer themselves to the HO in Bangkok. There are many cases where the employee, both foreign and Thai, believe they have a case but don't. A legal contract of employment will be in Thai. I wonder how many of those teachers you know carefully read their contract or got a reliable person to read it for them.
  12. Heading away from Buriram railway station. With the station and clock tower behind you, head straight on down the street opposite. Pass the CAT office on your right. About another 50 to 100 yards on your right is an eye clinic. It's very good.
  13. Exactly right. Marry the right woman in the first place. My wife and I have been married for 22 years. 2 houses, 2 plots of land and a condo, 2 cars, 4 motorbikes later and still going well. I've never felt the need to protect anything.
  14. That's a very large area and thus a very large gerneralisation.
  15. I was replying to the comment that party members select all candidates for general elections. They don't.
  16. You are funny. The slightest bit of criticism and you resort to petty little digs. You never fail to entertain. Thanks.
  17. No they don't. Having been involved in local council, I can assure you 160000 members did not choose our candidate for MP. The system simply does not work like that.
  18. Are you aware of how food poverty is calculated? My usual food shopping day is Wednesday. If I did the food poverty survey today, I would indeed be put in the bracket of being in food poverty. The figures really are not a true reflection of reality.
  19. Please explain how she avoided paying tax? She published all her tax payments. All experts agreed all tax required has been paid.
  20. 160000 people. Not going to make much difference in a general election.
  21. Excellent. So they weren't forced to leave after all.
